I brought my Mazda here for brake work because the car was vibrating when braking. They inspected the brake system and replaced the brake pads and rotors. After the repair, the vibration was gone and the car felt much smoother and safer to drive. The price was not the cheapest, but it felt fair for the amount of work and the result. They explained what needed to be done, finished the job properly, and the whole experience was easy. I liked that the work was done cleanly and there were no surprises at the end. Last time I came here, there were items on my bill of work that had not been performed. Another time they damaged the posts by over tightening my lug nuts and the owner tried to charge me for the repairs after it had been established it was their fault and their employee told me they would fix it for free. Do not go here, they will try and scam you. I have been going to this auto service center for about 12 year now for oil changes and basic services. In the last two years the service has been terrible. I have had the same thing happen twice now. I will bring my car in for a simple service such as an oil change. When they call me for pick up my car suddenly needs over $1000 worth of repairs. The first time this happened I got a secound opinion and it was proven by another mechanic they were not being truthful and my car didn't need any of the repairs stated by this store. I decided to give them a secound chance. This last time the issue occurred, I confronted their claims and they decided to double down. There was a man wearing an army green shirt and shorts eating in the lobby, I think he's the owner? Or a manger? Not sure, but he seemed to run the place. He got up went out to my car to check the issue and told me the same thing I was told over the phone. He told me he decided to check himself because if there was a discrepancy he would "need to yell at someone for that". I found it odd he openly told me he yells at his employees. I told them I just wanted to pay for my service and leave, but this man kept pushing the issue. It made me very uncomfortable. Once I paid and was trying to leave that man was out by my car ready to show me the issues, again I said "no thank you I would like to leave". He then walked away from my car and I left. Due to this I do not trust them anymore, which is unfortunate. Absolutely do NOT waste your time here! I made an appointment a week prior for a 12:30 rotate and balance. Was told for sure it would be done in 2 hours (in time for me to pick my children up from school), at check in I reminded Bob- that I was told it would be finished by 2:30. He said ok. I went away. Came back at 2:10, asked if they were almost finished only to be told by Bob that mine was "next to be STARTED." What the actual -_-_-!? I said "What do you mean started? You think you're going to finish a rotate and balance in 20 minutes?! Not a chance. You guys told me it would be finished by 2:30". Well....not so good customer service experience so far. This is a corporate business, not locally owned. I know there is a lot of pressure, that's why I try to deal local. Sure it was the end of the day, Friday, and I caught the manager Jim Walker off guard at the end of a break. He looked wrecked. But no matter, I felt like I had to plead my case instead of working with me. Just not fun, probably for either of us. He gave me some corporate policy that the free alignment check is ONLY that. It does not check if the car is ABLE to be aligned. (Suspension problems) I guess it doesn't even go up on the rack to do a simple "wiggle the tire" check. I took it my mechanic and 3 of the 4 tie rods were shot, so he told me he could not align it. I understand the quick in and out of a business, but I would have liked to know that at the time- that's just bad mechanics to me. I could be wrong. When I took it back, the man at the front desk tried to tell me that my washer was faulty and it happens sometimes, just a coincidence that it happened to me right after they did an oil change. Kudos to this tire shop. I tried several service stations, trying to use their tire pressure gauges, only to be blocked from using them. I drive an electric car, and service stations sell gas, which I don't need, so they aren't keen on helping me out. I finally decided to try Goodyear in Capitola. I discovered a nail in my tire on a Sunday afternoon. Expecting to get an appointment maybe for Wednesday, I brought my car in, and the guy looked at my tire and said, "let's get you written up." Half an hour later i was out the door, my tire repaired, having spent just over $21. And I can't stress this enough: on a Sunday afternoon! It was fast, efficient and no-frills. When I got there to drop off a mechanic made up some excuse that they couldn't work on fleet vehicles today (Friday) since the manager was at a meeting. Told me I could come back Monday. Wouldn't listen to what I was trying to share with him, which was your alignment guy doesn't know how to align trucks and I wanted to cancel my alignment package that I've been trying to cancel for over a year. He would continue to talk over me and interrupt me and was extremely rude. I contacted corporate they said they would handle it. I haven't been able to recommend Capatola Goodyear tire for many years. I had my tires replaced by them and they broke off one of my wheel studs. The guy blamed the previous tire shop I went to, but told me he could fix it for $110 and if I went to an auto shop and got the new parts for him. I called a few weeks later and they told me to come that same day and they'd get it done. When I arrived, the same guy told me they couldn't use any parts that weren't theirs. Then, he told me that they couldn't fix it that day and I'd need to come back. I wasted money on a part they told me to buy, and then they wasted my time having me drive there and then leave. Visited this business as directed by Goodyear Customer Service. An employee was called to assist. This individual immediately talked down to me and was dismissive of any of my concerns. I was prepared to do what I had to do to purchase tires that day yet having someone so disrespectful for really no reason I was not going to contribute my money. I was provided a quote that according to the associate was discounted, yet after reviewing identified multiple charges that were either double charged or didn't apply (must of had to compensate for the discount). I got a quote from a business down the way- same tires and no discount and it's less??? I am a business owner in the area and could not imagine allowing this at my facility. This whole transaction really wasn't / isn't about the money and is more about the experience and integrity. Bottom line if you want to be treated like your choice to go here doesn't matter and be ripped off at the end this is the spot. This place needs to be reported for fraud and abuse. After over $4 thousand in work that I believe was unneeded my car is now stalling when I start to drive and the engine and tire balance lights come on and off. I simply went in for a routine maintenance. I had been going to the same mechanic for over 20 years. I had followed all maintenance schedules on this car and done oil changes. I was told by a mechanic this particular mileage level would need the timing belt done and likely cost total with labor $1k for my type of car. This was told to me by a well respected local mechanic. He was warning me that it would be UP TO that price. I had to find a new mechanic and ended up going with Good Year in Capitola for the first time. My car is a 2009 PT Cruiser and Kelly Blue Book price for my car in GOOD condition which it WAS when I brought it in and now it may not be considered even good being it is stalling is less than $5k. Meaning, if a car insurance were to say I needed over $4 thousand in work on my car? They would say my car was considered totaled and would say it was not worth working on it. I have had 4 cars in my life time and never at one time have I been told I need over $1000 in work done. They also of course told me I need two new tires. What I found odd and interesting (in a bad way) is a place that specializes in tires left two of my tires without caps on the air valves. Of all places! So bad it is funny. Kinda! They told me that I needed more work done than my car is worth. and now won't even honor fixing the mess they made. The most expensive thing they worked on (see pics attached) is cam shaft belt and the engine code read says that the problem is surprise surprise "Cam shaft position sensor. Bank-1" So, the very thing I spent the most on has a problem? The manager Joe says to me I should have asked them to fix the sensor too. I told him I can not ask them to fix something I had no idea even existed. I did not know that part existed till I was made aware of it's very existence when the scanner told me it existed after the engine light came on and it was read with a scanner. That is ludicrous logic. I am supposed to foretell problems and have knowledge of parts I have never heard of before. And He says to me that "is what they get paid big bucks for" and claims he has no idea what this code means or how much it would cost or how long it would take to fix etc. He says they would not pay for nor guarantee the work and that they did not cause the problem in any way. Even though they were just working in that area of my car. They just took as much money from me as my car is worth (or more) and expect me to pay more? I do not even trust them. To be honest even if they said they would check it and do any following work for free at this point I'd not trust them. This is very shady. I only allowed this work to be done because I am at a very low point in my life with a son who has almost died and they knew this info and took advantage of a person not thinking clearly. Not ok. BTW Manager Joe says "I have people check the tire balance 25 times a day." That is his rationale to why my tire balance light keeps coming on since they had my car. I paid $50.25 for a new tire sensor on one tire. Maybe it was not put in correctly or I did not get one at all? I had to add the main reason I picked this place as my new mechanic shop is that their website said they have a shuttle to pick you up and then when I went to take my car in they told me they do not have one! The check in process was horrible too. A very old man was there and I do not think he knows how to type. It was excruciating waiting for him to get the most basic info into the computer. Don't bother trying to give him any important info or anything other than your name and car. But no they do not have a shuttle. I should have walked out then. That was a sign. read more

When I got home there was oil leaking that went on my driveway and the tire they balanced made the tire pressure light come on. I checked all tires and light will it turn off. I had 3 of 4 tires worn to a point of being unsafe. Didn't realize until I got a smog check. The smog check place would have been about $560 to replace my tires. While they did a great job with smog check it was not in my budget. As a senior I am on a limited budget. I went to Quintero tires this morning and they told $80 ea for 4 tires. That it would be 15 or 20 mins to finish. I asked if I needed an alignment and they said no. I am so grateful and blessed to have found this place. $320 total and so grateful. read more

I wish there was a zero star because one star is too much for this place. My sister in law had a front end alignment done a few days before she drove to our house which is 146 miles away. No one checked her tire pressure after the alignment, it's a nationwide policy by Goodyear to check tire pressure after any service performed. When she arrived not one tire had pressure over 18psi. They put her life in danger. I called and spoke with the Mgr. he sounded concerned but failed to follow through with contacting my sister in law. He offered a free service or something like that, I sent him the pictures of the air pressure on the tires but no response from him. Don't know if he gave me the right email address. Called him the next day, he was busy with a customer, left my name and number and I still haven't heard from this so called manager. Stay away from this nightmare of a shop! read more

I took my 2002 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner in to have the tires rotated and re-balanced along with a plug put into one with a nail. I was the first customer at opening. When I got home I checked the lead weights on the tires and the only one showing new weights was the one with the nail. The others did not appear to have been rebalanced. None of the weights had been moved or changed. I paid a good deal to have these re-balanced and it was very disappointing to have discovered this. I suppose it could have been a mistake on their part or they could know that the typical car owner would have no idea if the tires were balanced. read more
