Since they removed the change rooms, I was told I could get store credit or exchange within 14 days if the clothes don't fit when I try them on at home, but no refund. That's fine. Now I hear when I go back, they'll make me use that credit up right away? Their clothes don't turn over much in 14 days, so I won't have anything to exchange for. I guess I'll see. Also, no cashiers anymore. Just self checkout. I use a cane and am disabled and I was struggling with cashing myself out. The clerk saw me and walked by several times, not even asking if I needed help. Then I mumbled to myself "this is why I hate self checkouts, they're not disabled person friendly". The clerk obviously heard me and said very snarky "I can't read your mind, do you want help?" I just declined and said I'd get through it and then my cane fell and she just walked away leaving the cane on the floor and then watched me struggle to pick it up. I wish I got her name, but I just wanted to leave at that point. After I get my exchanges done, I will never shop there again. Maybe I'll try another location. read more

very similar layout to the fennell location, short wide and medium to larger sz not renovated. no finds and one lulu top I saw (tag missing) was 17.99. I bought the same one in Toronto for 6.99-8.99, can't recall. ridiculous. they must really treasure any good donation they get. haven't purchased anything here. too far to ever return. read more

Beware!! No dressing rooms anymore so you have to take everything home and try on. Now if you bring them back they will not credit you at ALL. You have to buy something right away. i used my debit and they wouldn't credit my account or even give me a store voucher or credit. Super expensive. Clothes cost more than they would in a store. It makes more sense to buy things new. I didn't buy clothes here but noticed this. What I did buy were used, antique books, but they're way overpriced. Most are $6-$10. It's way too much. Book from 1930 at Value Village = $8 Boom from 1860 at Salvation Army = $0.50 read more

It's a normal size store, not huge and not small, they have quite a bit of selection but to be honest a lot of it seems like stuff nobody wants and nobody's buying it. When you do find something great it's the same price as buying something new from a store, I can get a nice dress for 19$ at Walmart, why would I pay 19$ for one used in that scenario? Sure it was "less used" and looked brand new if even worn at all, but it sort of defeats the point of thrifting for deals at that point. Most staff are nice to deal with (I have had business around this area a few times and have seen a lot of different staff each time so they must have a huge team working here) BUT some seem almost snobby or miserable. Not my business to pry but it's not pleasant to deal with a cashier who seems like she's contemplating just quitting at all moments while ringing you out. On the other hand other cashiers are friendly and great so it's certainly not a problem all around. They only do paper bags now which is nice and environmentally friendly so that's a plus more places should switch to paper bags! The one thing that is unpleasant is how unclean the place is, stuff is just thrown around by customers, especially in the change rooms which have dust piles in the corners from never being sweeper out it seems, and the once white shelves are all stained randomly. I get that it's a thrift store but surely if you've got staff there paying them to be there then there could be some time spent cleaning the floors and shelves at some point in the week? The cleanliness has not changed any of the times I've been there so I'm fairly sure it's not something done regularly at least. I've only visited the St. Catharines one as well and that one has a similar issue so it's possible that this is company wide but I'm not aware if every location runs that way too. Because of the color scheme of white inside the store, it doesn't help it look any less dirty I suppose. Prices on books seem fair enough especially for things like textbooks that can be very expensive brand new, and other books that are 30$ new but 8$ at value. The only thing I dislike is that they price books based on original sticker price on the book, which if a book brand new costs 40$ it ends up in the most expensive value village book price bracket even if that book has several pages ruined , which in my opinion should mean the book should be even cheaper as it's not even fully readable without skipping some pages. I did not see any washing being done to the donations when I walked past the back where they do sorting so make sure you give everything a wash and a good wipe down when you bring it home! read more

The store is NOT checking toys battery compartments for safety! Bought a toy from here that used batteries and the super OLD batteries were left in the OOZING acid! DISGUSTING! A child could have been severely burned! These toys are being sold to CHILDREN and they are not being thoroughly checked?! UNACCEPTABLE! Buyers buy at your OWN RISK! read more

Usually love this location.....today however, a staff member took a piece off of her cart and took it to the front of the store (it was a glass bowl).....I thought perhaps it was being put into the showcase, but, no......I assume she put the bowl somewhere at the checkouts so she could purchase it before she leaves for the day. I had specifically followed her because I wanted to look at the piece. I assume staff can purchase items AFTER their shift but I seriously doubt that they are supposed to be shopping for themselves as they are stocking the shelves. One would think that customers are supposed to come first. read more
