I love a good thrift, it's my therapy! This location has plenty of parking. The goods are very hit or miss depending on the day. My latest trip scored me 3 pairs of leather boots and flats from quality brands! Knocked a star off for pricing, it's still the cheaper thrift option compared to the various boutique local shops. Ex/ $25 for a pair of lightly used adidas gazelles. The pricing went way up the last few years. VV definitely caught on to the resellers, trends and brands. I enjoy using the coupon you receive when you donate, but note that it is a max $10 value only. Not a non-profit organization , this is very much a for profit company. read more

I WAS ACCUSED OF STEALING! I WAS DISCRIMINATED AGAINST, I WAS PROFILED. EMPLOYEES ARE AGGRESSIVE AND EXTREMELY RUDE. IVE HAD THE WORST TRAUMATIZING EXPERIENCE. On April 24 2025 I visited one of your stores in Richmond B.C and was accused, and profiled. I am so beyond upset, angry and humiliated after the encounter I have had with one of your employees. I am a loyal customer who is also a young mother of 2 and I enjoy thrifting especially taking advantage of your fill-a-bag system. It has helped me find clothes for an amazing price for my toddlers. I have always came to Value Village for our needs but now I am traumatized by the actions of your employee. I happily found two large bags worth of baby clothes which is priced at 12.99 each. As I was checking out at the self checkout area, one of your employees kept circling around me even though she was not even working in the check out area. She then proceeded to stop me from paying and say I QUOTE " I need to check all of your bags because it is our new policy." She then proceed to DUMP all of the clothes out and she then found an item that was apparently "tagged" and said to her co-worker " SEE, THIS IS WHY WE SHOULD CHECK THE BAGS. THEY WERE GOING TO STEAL THIS." I am absolutely so flabbergasted and disgusted of her behaviour. She then also went into my cart and dumped the other bag out and inspected and was feeling every single piece of clothing to ensure I wasn't "stealing from them". She then told me not to touch it and she will do it herself, then walked away. With nothing more to say but accuse me of stealing. For one! I am a loyal customer who spends their hard earned money at your stores. I was buying BABY CLOTHING for my BABIES. THAT store is so unorganized all of the baby sections for the fill-a-bag are all mixed up with every thing you can imagine. TWO! I AM NOT A THIEF! I would never ever do something even remotely close to what she accused me of. I was so humiliated. She specifically profiled me from my looks, she discriminated against me. There were so many other customers there but no one came up to them to search their bags? Their carts? But I was the only one to go through this?? There was even other families there who were doing fill-a-bag and she literally didn't even check them? And why would I even steal. To accuse me of stealing is BEYOND WRONG. If I was stealing don't you think I would have not paid? Mind you, I have boughten these fill-a-bag multiple times before. Never have I gotten an employee to stop me to say it's your "new policy" to go through my items- or DUMP all my items in front of EVERYONE! And then say "SEE THIS IS WHY WE SHOULD CHECK THE BAGS THEY WERE GONNA STEAL THIS!!" There was no supervisor or manager there to talk to. I have had the absolute worst experience there that has me traumatized to ever step in that store again. You guys need to speak to your employees at the RICHMOND B.C location (8240 GRANVILLE AVE) as there are PLENTY of complaints about how rude and demeaning your employees are. OVERPRICED! THRIFT ELSEWHERE! Items perceived as "trendy" are marked up to exorbitant premiums. Things here are often priced higher than you pay to simply buy the item brand new! Returns? You're not allowed to try anything on due to COVID, but you also cannot receive any money back should you choose to return something -- same-day exchange only policy. I recently bought a pair of jeans I was unsure about the sizing of. There was no visible tag, so the lady at the front priced the pants at the till at $16.99. I felt this was expensive and said so; I was told "Zara" is a name brand, so the cost will be higher. When I got home and tried the pants on, I found the original tag in the pocket -- $8.99 -- as well as a large stain on one pant leg. No, Zara is not a fancy name brand. Zara pants retail for $45, oftentimes much less. I hate shopping retail, but at this rate, why have a negative benefit where I lose $18 AND have no pants, when the alternative is a pair of pants or an actual return policy? This is one of many poor experiences I have had at Value Village with its predatory pricing on donated items. It's a for-profit enterprise that re-sells things they are given for free back to the people at a premium. I'm sick of being gouged at a thrift store. read more

Lots of good stuff to be found here, but prices can be quite high. It's nice to know you are helping save clothing in good condition from the landfill. And you can find older styles that you still enjoy which aren't as popular anymore. However, stuff like shirts can exceed $10, so even purchasing a few items can really add up. And keep in mind they are not a charity themselves, they simply establish an agreement with one so they can sell donated items. The rewards program makes you give your phone number each transaction instead of simply scanning a card like every other major store on the planet. I guess this saves them the expense of issuing cards, but seems highly inefficient as each customer needs to read out a 10 digit number which the cashier punches in. They handed out cards for a short period years ago, but discontinued them. read more

A smaller value village located in Richmond. Parking was a mess when I visited around 4. Had to wait a bit to get a spot. Store interior was actually quite neat. The majority of items were clothing with some houseware. I was disappointed with the electronics & media section. Prices here varies. Some items are priced pretty good but others were overly overpriced. I saw a pair of True Religion and a pair of Joe Fresh jeans both priced $20... The line for the fitting room was VERY long. Probably around 10 people waiting. There is a 6 item limit, so I left my cart outside with some clothing and other items. After finishing I exited to find my cart disappeared! So I spent 15 minutes wondering around the store like a lost puppy attempting to find my cart and the stuff in it! Frustrated I decided to just purchase the items I had in my hand. After paying I gave my friend a call. Turns out her basket also disappeared! read more

Extremely high prices. Used, stained, and torn UGGS for 100$. CRAZY! They are getting these cloths for free and selling them for retail price. I remember coming here when I was younger and I could find nice clothing for a decent price. Non existent. Not to mention you cannot try on clothing. Additionally, their return policy is 14 days and you get a store credit for the value of the product. You must pick something the same day. Management does not understand the concept of thrifting. I came here a couple times before and I had a pretty good impression. The space was clean and organize. Today I came here to exchange something that I purchased from this location. The cashier that assisted me was friendly but she said she need the supervisor. The supervisor came and was shaking her head and said "the tag doesn't match the item but the tag matches the receipt". And she gave me this look and was accusing me changing the tags. She said "I will honor it this time because checking the camera would be a waste of time." I was shocked and furious at this moment what kind of customer service is that? I told her to check the camera because the tags were the original tags when I purchased the item. The supervisor just walked away and the cashier said " it happens sometimes". I wish I asked to speak to a manger about this and ask them to check the camera. Just came here to look around when I came by this neighborhood. It has a lot of the same used goods you would normally find at most thrift stores. The good thing about this place is that the items aren't really hard to find in this store despite the size of this place. The prices on the items I've seen (the DVD and CD), were pretty average. It also looked pretty tidy and somewhat organized. It also has free parking up at front, or at least I'm pretty sure its free. Lastly, their store doesn't feel as cramped as a lot of the Thrift stores usually are. Sadly, there's a few things about this store that is a bit of a downer. For one, this store just felt sort of empty, like their items just doesn't feel as selective as you would normally expect from Salvation Army, or at least compared to the ones I've been to. Its a fine store to go to if you just needed something vaguely specific but aren't too picky on what you're getting. A rule you should always follow with pretty much most Thrift stores, but especially with this store in particular. read more

I dislike the corporate overhang of Value Village, but you can sometimes find some real gems here. The fact that you are donating to a corporation for profit kind of irks me, but it is what it is I suppose. Prices could be cheaper for what you are getting. Especially when it comes to T-Shirts. If you're looking for some cool vintage cloths or some cheap shoes it is best to check out some of the local thrift store such as salvation army or private, but Value Village is usually a pretty good bet. read more

Anyone who thinks this place has good deals has obviously never been to the mall when there is a sale, that pretty much represents the prices at V V. I remember back when donated used clothing was cheap. Back when the world made sense. Nowadays thrift shopping is a popular hobby therefore thrift shops like Value Village are raising their prices (thanks a lot Macklemore). I spent a good 2 hours in this place and ended up buying 2 things - a large batwing navy blue cardigan and a black and gray pinstripes pair of shorts. Both of which were fantastic quality so i didn't feel that bad about the $26 I spent on them (in total, of course). When the cashier asked if I had any coupons I felt my heart sink. Had I known that there were coupons floating around in the universe for this place I would have printed them out before coming here. Only come here if you are in search of something specific. For instance, if you need purple pants for a class project or if you have an interview and need a relatively cheap blazer, then sure, visit this Value Village. If your goal is to score a bunch of amazing deals and go bargain hunting....eh. I'd look elsewhere. read more

As far as thrift stores go, the Value Village in Richmond is okay but, nothing special. I find the shoes section to typically be quite bare, the shoes to be quite worn, and I've yet to see anything in my size that I even bothered trying on, never mind actually purchased. I will say that when I was there last week there were three or four pairs of Italian made heels that, though outdated, I found quite cute. Much too small for me though and they were a first. Their dress section is about half the size of the Value Village in Surrey on King George at 68ish Ave, which I'm always quite disappointed about but, I have seen some very cute pieces in there. They do however seem to get some very good furs in... Surprisingly good furs. As with all Value Villages, considering that everything has been donated, things can be quite overpriced and I probably wouldn't suggest a special trip out to it but, if you're in the area it might not hurt to check it out. read more

I like visiting this location and find it a fairly well-organized store. Getting into the parking lot can be a bit tricky because you have to be going east on Granville to get into it and the driveway is easy to miss. Parking is somewhat limited, so on sale days, it can fill up quite fast. The staff is usually cheerful and friendly and they seem to work hard to get items placed back out on the floor after people try them on. I like how a lot of kitchen and decorative items are color-blocked on the end of the aisles, as this helps draw the eye to what is available. You don't usually have to wait too long to try things on in the change-room area and there are some 3-way mirrors available outside the change rooms. If I plan on coming here when it's really busy, I'll dress in leggings and a t-shirt so that I can even try things on without being in a cubicle. The layout of items makes good sense and it's easy to find the section and size for the category you are searching. Purses and shoes are also well-displayed and organized. I find prices a bit on the high-side and many times an obvious "knock-off" item will be priced as if it's the real thing. But if you go frequently and try to hit the sales, there are some great bargains to be found. read more

I am a loyal VV shopper, my initial location being Victoria drive for 4 years and then Hastings for 7 years, and now I am a Richmond resident and live on the same street as my favorite place to shop!! I was delighted to learn this upon moving from East Van where I had to spend money on a cab to get to the nearest VV. Anyone who knows me can verify that I spend a considerable amount of money at VV every time I go there and I always get to know the staff, often befriending some of the friendliest employees being a repeat customer on an extreme scale. I have lived in Richmond a year almost and recently halloween wound me up at VV on a very busy day with my partner and we were in the back by the leisure equipment when an employee that I had never met came storming out of the employee only back room and caused the swinging doors to hit our cart accidentally but did not break any items in the full cart and didnt bother either of us at all but the employee seemed pissed right off to have almost impaled myself and my partner (jk) and sneered full face at us so instead of asking for help with the excersize contraption we were trying to figure out at the time I said under my breath, "Thanks for your help lady" because clearly she wasn't in the mood to help us lol. So we continued shopping and our cart was full but my partner went to 711 right next door for a drink before he had to face the eternally long change room lineup and I was in the shoe section headed towards the change rooms with our cart. That was when that very same unhappy lady VV employee came up to me with a security guard in plain clothes wearing a backpack and put a camera in my face and took a few pictures. He then said "excuse me Miss you have been identified as one of the people who have been banned from shopping at our store." I immediately assumed it was a mistake and said you must have the wrong person because this is how they treat people who shoplift from what I have observed in my many many years of shopping at VV. The security guard assured me it was in fact me who wasnt allowed to shop there and explained that they have the right to refuse ANYONE service and they are not obligated to give any explanation. So I asked to speak to the manager, starting to panic that I would not be able to take home the many amazing items including a stainless steel garbage can that was not even an eighth of the price it was originally. The mad lady employee spoke up to re-phrase the little security fellows original statement saying "we don't have to give you any reason to ban you and the manager isn't here." I am familiar with the little russian girl who is the store manager but I hadnt seen her on that day so I put my coat on dreading the walk out the door feeling very abused and clearly mistreated. So with no explanation and no respect I left my favorite place to shop with a thought in mind to somehow get them back or see justice. I am not a shoplifter nor are any of my peers and we never go in that store without money to spend. I gathered all the VV receipts I could find today because I don't throw them out and they added up to 800 dollars and change. I have only lived near this location for barely a year. I dont know how to remedy this by way of complaint to head office or some other department I am not sure so if there is any advice I welcome it but for now I am just gonna yelp. read more

I whole heartedly agree with the person who wrote what an ordeal it is to exchange items. You would think that the staff at this store are protecting the crown jewels!!! Have they ever thought about that they get this stuff for free and are working for some very wealthy people! Honestly if they spent more time catching the all too obvious shop lifters rather than comparing price tags for possible tampering, they would fare better. Some of the staff particularly the managers are the rudest I have every come across and as I shop in these places for my work...I try to avoid this one. No where else are customers treated in this way and I ended up making a complaint to the district manager. Got a back handed apology but it still continues. Quality of stock is very low as well as organization...racks are too close together for people and staff to shop and work effectively. As in many thrift stores, I am seeing English being dropped by staff and conversations are either in Chinese dialect or Phillipino dialect. So much for learning the language of the country that they have chose to make their own! Awesome Value Village. Lots of near new designer clothes. Sometimes the prices are ridiculous. The kitchen, books and housewares selection is great too. Very clean and organized except for the toy section sometimes. Poor selection of shoes for bigger sizes. Super helpful and friendly staff. I also donate her at least once every couple months. They have a good selection of men's and kids clothing as well as mostly women's clothing. I just love shopping here. read more

Lately I noticed a different kind of people in the store than the usual crowd....so I am glad that more people are finally taking this "used goods exchange" as a part of recycling system. True, it brought along much higher prices....some of them not really matching the original value of the items...... but you can still find your "treasures", because of huge selection of items you can not find in regular stores. But I did not like what I heard yesterday in the store announcement...."We have a new point system to save you even more money ! " That is a FALSE ADVERTISEMENT....those discontinued Punch-in card's value was far from this new system where you now need a 100 points ...... 1 point per $1spent.....and they both are traded for a 30% discount...... so you have to spend $100 in this "new, improved, more money saving" system !!! There is not a rating low enough to place on this store. The cashiers are somewhat friendly but the stockers have a lot to be desired when it comes to customer service. The pricers have no idea about the value of things and the prices are sometimes higher than the dollar stores on items. The motto seems to be to get every penny out of the customers. Do they remember it is customer donated goods? The testers have the brains of jelly fish ! So many products are placed for sale than are not working properly or damaged. Some items can be repaired by a handyman, but why pay their prices ? I wanted to buy a tv and was advised by the cashier to check it before I purchased it, Luck I listened, the tv screen was damaged. The next day I returned to the store and the same tv was on the shelf ready for sale again. Cheaters ? I purchased an air fryer and after taking it home and cleaning it, I discovered it was not working properly. I told told to make an exchange but when final sales came, I was informed that I had lost my 30% discount. Value Village management, you are scum bags, that cheat the customer at every turn possible. I ask that people stop donating to this chain and help the smaller stores. I have visited this store for 7 years and have become a weary customer. It's all buyer beware or the leeches will get you. I always visit the Richmond store when I have the chance. I find it worth the time as I have found great buys there, sometimes I find the prices a little higher than other stores but it always evens out. One thing that I do notice at this location in particular is that they actually allow you to look through their roller racks and encourage you to do so, at other locations they make you feel your annoying them or just breaking a cardinal rule by touching incoming stock! Richmond location has a wonderful manager who always takes the time to say hello and always offers help to customers needing it. I commend her for doing so. She is always willing and ready to step in and lend a hand and I have heard her speaking with her staff members on many occasions and she is truly a team player. read more
