medium sized, could use a reno! otherwise, mostly picked over and many chinese/noname brands, understandable given its location. very hit and miss! some prices super high, $20-25 per pair of pants etc 5

    Review Highlights - Value Village

It's always fun to go on the hunt for some vintage clothing or that perfect skirt for $3.

It's set up nicely, it's clean, and organized well. My favourite part though, is that they have lots of gorgeous older pieces. You can tell that each piece is hand picked for the shop. So glad I finally stopped by!

Community makes me believe in vintage and thrift again. Sound dramatic? Maybe you haven't been…read morethrifting in Vancouver as a plus size woman! Vancouver's vintage and consignment is already notoriously expensive and caters almost exclusively to a small dress size. Community, a Vintage and Consignment that is run by a non-profit Downtown Eastside housing and resource society not only engages with the neighbourhood it lives in, but also works to diversify its size range to engage with shoppers of many sizes. It hires women from the neighbourhood to work in the business and portions of the proceeds go back into the neighbourhood, which feels great while you shop! The space is small but well utilized and well decorated. Great jewelry by local designers is on display and the clothes have a very consistent and curated turnover rate. And the prices!! Compared to Vancouvers vintage scene, Community is absolutely the fairest price I've found yet. These days even Value Village is getting pricey so to go to a shop where the selection is so well picked out and find something affordable feels great. Again, I'm a plus size shopper who finds an amazing score here 90% of the time. Pieces from Community make up probably 50% of my wardrobe. See you there this weekend!

This place is hidden in a warehouse plaza of sorts, which is why you may have never seen it. There…read moreis so much stuff in here, but it's not exactly organized well. I will say that I'm clothing-centred when it comes to thrifting, so this review will focus on that. There are general labelled sections -- men's clothing, women's clothing, kids clothing, etc. -- but all the sizing for the clothing is mixed together. Additionally, all the clothes are tightly packed together on the racks. It's hard to look for stuff. Also, the selection is obviously not curated, so there is a lot of not-great stuff. That being said, if you're the patient scavenger type when it comes to thrifting, you could strike gold among the rubble. What the establishment lacks in organization makes up for in their prices! (!!!) I got two shirts for $4 each -- one of which was a very nice ruffled and lace-detailed button-up. I also got a 100% silk floral Wilfred button-up for $6. (They have a whole Aritzia rack in there, lowkey.) Also, they don't exactly have a fitting room -- when I asked for one, they nicely directed me to the bathroom in the back. (At least they let you try stuff on! Most thrift stores don't even have a fitting room, much less offer up their bathroom as one.) I would definitely come back every once in a while if I'm in the area (and if I have enough patience to dig through the racks). The prices are super worth it.
