Super rude blonde lady snapped at me after I came in to look at pictures in the front corner room. She was in there organizing and I was waiting out by the window looking at other things waiting for her to be done. She said something to me , didn't quite hear because of her accent. I asked what she said and she snapped back "this zone in closed! " I said do you mean the picture area or .... She said this whole zone ! There was no signage saying this nor was the section closed off and the security didn't say anything when I walked into the section. She then told me she was cleaning the floor in this section. She had no broom or mop anywhere around. Just super rude about it. It was ten minutes until the store closed. Mostly this store is full of overpriced garbage anyways . Sometimes you might discover a decent find but it's rare.

It's a tad rough, stinky and dirty but on occasion there are some great treasures. I've bought ice skates for cheaper than renting them, designer shoes for cheaper than lunch and random quality kitchen items for less than a bargain store. Clothes, shoes, housewares, art, furniture, sporting goods - they seem to have it all in limited space. Staff are great, pricing is fair. Worth a look. Inventory changes very regularly.

Dior eyeglasses Prada eyeglasses ( I needed frames after I lost my Prada glasses in Vegas ) both with cases. Photoshop CS3 Manuel Martha Stewart hardcover book ( new ) Nemesis teardrop watch All for 55$ This was all thanks to my husband and my ex who bonded over shopping here while waiting for me. I've been here before, and like all second hand stores, it's hit or miss. You really need to take your time to be able to really investigate everything they have. I don't come here often, but after the last score, I may have to.

It's set up nicely, it's clean, and organized well. My favourite part though, is that they have lots of gorgeous older pieces. You can tell that each piece is hand picked for the shop. So glad I finally stopped by!

Vancouver's vintage and consignment is already notoriously expensive and caters almost exclusively to a small dress size. Community, a Vintage and Consignment that is run by a non-profit Downtown Eastside housing and resource society not only engages with the neighbourhood it lives in, but also works to diversify its size range to engage with shoppers of many sizes. It hires women from the neighbourhood to work in the business and portions of the proceeds go back into the neighbourhood, which feels great while you shop! The space is small but well utilized and well decorated. Great jewelry by local designers is on display and the clothes have a very consistent and curated turnover rate. And the prices!! Compared to Vancouvers vintage scene, Community is absolutely the fairest price I've found yet. These days even Value Village is getting pricey so to go to a shop where the selection is so well picked out and find something affordable feels great. Again, I'm a plus size shopper who finds an amazing score here 90% of the time. Pieces from Community make up probably 50% of my wardrobe. See you there this weekend!

But something piqued my interest when I heard of Community Thrift and Vintage. I knew this one would be different then the rest. Man was I right. One part social enterprise, one part thrift store, all parts awesome, this pretty little boutique is retail-with-a-conscious to the highest order. A firm believer that the "thrift" in "thrift store" should be observed, I was beyond relieved to walk into an unpretentious, well-curated, and cheap(!!) vintage shop. Adhering to my "no uglies" policy, this not-for-profit opts for natural fibres when choosing their wares, and has a strict no polyester rule (thankthelawd). With its reclaimed wood and exposed brick walls, its well-curated wares, and its social advocacy and support of the DTES, Community Thrift could easily upsell cool to the masses. But they don't. And I love them so much more for it.

The selection was very hip & trendy, even though they label themselves as vintage. The abundance selection of scarves were impressive. I think if you're looking for a good selection of gently used unique scarves, this is the place to check out.
