I visit this Turnabout quite regularly! On multiple occasions I have left with great items in wonderful condition. I love popping in here because I never know what I'm going to find. They have a great selection for women and a decent menswear selection as well. From shoes, scarves, dresses, skirts and everything in between I've never been disappointed. First time shopping here and found so many great items! Staff were very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. Love their women's clothing and bag selection, was pleasantly surprised at how many designer items they had! Great bags from high end brands like Chloe, LV, even Mulberry, Chanel and mid range ones like Kate Spade. They price well and any issues are added to the tag, ie: a bit of wear in the collar. Beware of products when buying something here. Bought a pair of jeans and didn't realize at the time of purchase that the crotch had a hole. Usually at used goods stores all imperfections are pointed out on the tag but this was not the case. Called the store when I found out and was told since they are a consignment store returns or exchanges are not possible even if the product is faulty. read more

The prices are still pretty high for used clothing. Designer or not, $400 for a jacket is a little steep. You can find the odd thing for $30 or $40 but this store is really only an asset to those who insist on wearing designer labels. read more

Fantastic experience at the Main store! I find clothes shopping difficult and so asked the staff to pick out outfits for me to try on (I described the occasions and they picked out the outfits). It was a first class experience - the staff have great taste and the prices made it really easy on my wallet. Walked out with 5 outfits in less than an hour. Couldn't be happier! Well-presented store and very nice things but very bad staff especially the girls who pick out clothes to resell. I waited an hour and a half when they told me 30 minutes just because they forgot to text me because they didn't pick any clothes. I haven't been to Turnabout on Main for several years so I thought I'd pop in to have a look as my husband was having day surgery at St. Joseph's hospital nearby. The last time I was there I wasn't impressed with the clothing selection the prices or the unfriendliness of the staff. Nothing has changed in the last three years. I walked around for about 30 minutes and not one person authentically engaged with me, though three staff were fawning all over a woman near the change rooms. Perhaps she's a regular or spends lots of money. The clothing is highly overpriced and I found the layout a bit confusing to navigate. It felt very cramped and with Covid still an issue I didn't like this very much. I still had some time to kill before picking up my husband so I went to a small thrift store a block away. In 15 minutes I found an Isabel Marant top, Marc Jacobs blouse and 7 other great designer pieces for about $80. Just one of those items would have been over $80 at Turnabout. At least I found a great new thrift store! I'm also going to stick with my favourite consignment store in the west side of Vancouver on 41st that I reviewed previously. It is without a doubt worth a regular visit, but Turnabout is definitely not. read more

Let me start by saying that I took 1 star off for how pricey it is here and 1 star for an awkward pricing system. They have huge variety of medium to high end brands, for both men and women. As a seasoned thrift store shopper, I find them way too overpriced for items that are often out of style. Or quite many season's outdated. I dont mean that the items are in bad conditions or not fresh, they are just not exactly the most current ones. Otherwise, customer service, cleanliness and organisation, etc are all great. But I feel that I can get better value for my money at Salvation army or Nordstrom rack or even Winners. I was there yesterday with my bf, the staff are incredibly rude, look at you up and down, it was a very uncomfortable experience for the both of us. I would like to call out the specific staff members that were horrid. One of them following us around the store to see if we were really going to purchase something, and one of the staff members in the changing room area asked me in a belittling way, "are you ok hun". I wanted to get out of there. Racial profiling to the max. We won't be back there and everyone should be pre warned about this place, it's not worth it. read more

I had my first Turnabout experience on Saturday on the recommendation of a friend. Recently I've been looking for something different from the usual clothes redistributors and suffice to say, I think I've met my match! I'll first mention the service, as that made a huge impression on me. Every one of the four employees I interacted with was an absolute pleasure. I do not like overbearing store clerks, and am usually the type that does not appreciate being approached repeatedly. However, at this store, on this day, they were nothing but sweet, helpful and genuine. The employees helped me choose a few articles that suited my style and fit me nicely. They took my backpack and jacket for safekeeping behind the counter and subsequently were happy to offer their opinion on how the clothes I was trying on were fitting outside the dressing room. I can't speak highly enough about my experience. As for the selection itself, I was pleasantly surprised. Most other stores of this type do not carry menswear, but Turnabout is the exception to the rule! They had a small selection of jackets, suits and jeans and a much broader selection of t-shirts, sweaters, cardigans and hats among other things. Another nice discovery was their discount rack, where I found a number of articles to be very reasonably priced, with a few dress shirts for under $10. On the day I visited, they had 20% off everything in the store, including the discounted items, which was a nice bonus. Finally, I'd be remiss not to mention the quality of their clothing, which was exceptional. You won't find any stains, holes or missing buttons in their clothing, and it seemed like everything had been gently worn and/or very well cared for. The store is by no means massive, but is nicely laid out. There's elbow room and than some in most areas. There are several changing rooms in the corner complete with curtains, and the staff members just outside were more than happy to help me swap out items as I discarded them. Given that their motto is "luxury resale", I was expecting a higher price point than I was used to for this kind of clothing, but in my opinion, everything was fairly priced for what it was. I found a number of items I was looking for at very reasonable prices. I would highly recommend a visit to Turnabout, and I'm very excited to check out their other locations at Granville & 16th and Broadway & Balaclava. read more

The staff are delightful, warm and friendly and I've often found many designer items in great condition. There are numerous consignment stores around Vancouver with upscale brands, but only a few that cater to men as well as women. While Second Suit on West 4th is my favourite, this one runs a close second. Dress shirts, sports coats, suits, and casual wear can all be found here for men, and the range of women's clothing is similar. Great savings over new clothes, but keep in mind that you're getting great curated clothing here, so you're going to be paying more than thrift store prices. One plus to this store over many others, including Second Suit, is that in addition to the price on items dropping each month, they also have occasional sales--for instance on Victoria Day all items were 20% off. If you're selling items the good news is (I'm told) that the store eats the entire cost of the reduction, meaning you still get the same amount you would if it sold at the regular price. Well worth checking out, and if you live or work around Main Street you'd do well to stop in regularly. read more

I think chain consignment and secondhand store location is a about a 3.4. It was well-organized, but crowded, when I was there on a Sunday afternoon. No one greeted me when I came in, or spoke to me while I looked around, so couldn't really assess much about the store other than the merchandise they had out that day. The people working there seemed really busy, so I did not approach anyone. I didn't see anything that interesting when I was there, but I couldn't tell if it was typical of the store, or if it was just because it was the end of the weekend and stock was low. I got impression this shop focuses on more classic and conservative styles. They appeared to sell both casual and career clothing. I missed the special occasion selection, but I saw a cocktail dress in the window, so they do carry some here. Lastly, they have menswear, but I did not look at that closely either because that area seemed particularly busy. I would come back and look around again. There just has to be a reason it was so crowded in there, and I am curious about it.t read more

They have some nice designer pieces. I bought a pair of Tiffany Elsa Peretti earrings for 100 dollars, which retails for over 300 and often sold used for 190. If I were in the market for purse, this would be a nice place to peruse. I like that they have online store so I can shop when I return to the states. read more

I phone the store and am told they take all sorts of labels for resale, I was just looking to sell some clothing that is more high end. They go through 3 bags of my things and tell me they are too old (which they are not and other clothing in their store looked much older than what I brought in) and buy nothing. If you aren't taking clothes worth hundreds or thousands of dollars, don't bother. Their prices on used clothing are overinflated and they are very snobby. read more

FYI the map on this particular Yelp profile is confusing especially for tourists like me. It's actually on Main between 13th and 14th ave or so. More in Mount Pleasant than Strathcona. I first visited the Granville store, got lost on the way to the Broadway store, and then decided to hit the Main street store when I found out my flight home was delayed. I love the space here. It's very large (quite nice, esp compared to Granville) and has an urban industrial feel. Again, really nice/high end shoes for ladies with size 9 or 10. :-( Their designer bag collection (the authentic ones) is killer. Still couldn't afford any but it's fun to look. I don't shop here but I do consign, and I've found it a great place to sell gently used goods! I like Turnabout because the staff are friendly and unpretentious and they are able to sort through your items quickly. I've had really good luck here - they usually accept about 75% of what I bring in to consign, and then every 3 months there's a cheque waiting for me for 40% of what my items sold for. If I have higher end designer goods I prefer to put in the effort for the extra cash and sell them myself, but for run of the mill pieces from places like J Crew and Banana Republic where it's not worth my effort, Turnabout is a great option. read more

*3.5 stars* I am new to the Consignment world and all I can ask now is...what made me wait this long? Turnabout is great for finding a new home for my work clothes that I don't fit into anymore or only wore once or twice. Even better, this means the the clothes they have for sale at also of a mid-upper scale quality... The upsides and downsides in my mind depend on your point of view. For the buyer, prices aren't the lowest but keep in mind you are getting great quality gently used clothes. They also have regular sales on different ticket items, which means for great discounts if you go at the right time. For the seller, they can be picky with what they are looking for but as mentioned above, it's because they want to keep their quality control in check! They have locations across the Lower Mainland..glad to see this local chain expanding. read more

Not a good experience at the Main St one!!! I totally regret bringing my brand new (with price tags still on) clothes to Turnabout. I was recommended by a friend who told me afterwards she felt ripped off! If she had told me earlier, I wouldn't have gone here. That was exactly how I felt. My daughter and I were asked to go back after 15-20 mins while they looked through our stuff. Almost every item I brought in were brand new! 2 Levi's jean jackets, Levi's jeans, Lululemon top/lanyard/shorts etc. I had forgotten to list my items. when we went back after 20 mins, we were asked to wait a little longer, so I walked around the shop. when they were done, they waved my daughter to them and handed her $110 for 11 brand new items! by the time I walked over they were kind of rushing us out by handing me back my luggage with the stuff that they didn't want. The girls (buyers) were kind of sneaky in their behavior. I didn't even have enough time to react or observe what had happened and we were out of there. When I finally realized that they basically paid me $10/piece I almost died! I would have given those to my niece or anyone instead or sell on marketplace myself and made money instead being ripped off. YES that's how I felt big time! read more

I've just recently started thrift shopping for my clothes and this was my first visit to a consignment store. My review is based on this one visit, my first impression. It seemed to me like all the clothes on display were at least decent pieces and in good condition, which is better than some of the other stores I checked out on Main Street. I'm size XS which is hard to find in most men's sections, but I found quite a few things to try on that fit me. I ended up buying a pair of Nike shoes that looked brand new for $40, a beautiful peacoat with a removable hoodie inside for $40, a funny graphic shirt and a (brand new looking) red bomber jacket for $16 each. Considering the store has more women's clothes than men's, I can only imagine that a girl would have found even more things worth getting. The finds at stores like this always depend a bit on luck when you go, but based on my first experience I'd say Turnabout is definitely worth checking out! It's a long way for me to go but I plan to go back soon and see what they get in. read more

I consign here and at the Granville location. It's a large space and no appointment needed. Normally takes 15-30 mins to sift through my pile and at least 3/4 of what I drop off are taken. I receive 40% of the sale price. That is great for the clothes, but for many of my high end designer bags, 40% seems low. If $1500 price, you can get 50%. They have now started a buy out option, which I am interested in. I find the Granville location has more high end items for sale. They do frequently have sales of 20% off. read more

It's not worth your time and effort and better to sell your more pricey items yourself. Out of a bag of 20+ items carefully selected. I brought in Italian long sweater, new banana rep jacket, designer wool shawl picked out by a gothic looking staff member who offered me $5 a piece. Yep $5. I thought she was joking. Three items costing more than $300 for $15 cash or $20 store credit. I am sure they would sell each piece for $50-100 but they can't even offer what the sales tax people pay for it. Seriously it is robbery. I know that store must turn a profit but c'mon! It was insulting. I would rather keep my items and do eBay, Craigslist, FB marketplace and be responsible to my favourite charity than let this store profit from you like this. This will be my last time consigning anything because just not worth it. I heard another Facebook review stating she brought in $250 designer bag with tags and low balled $18 pay out and $10 for Lululemon items. This is accurate given they do inflate the prices after buying your item for $5. I don't know who agrees to this scheme. Give to your charity and sell your items yourself. read more

I've brought stuff from this Main St branch occasionally. Staff is usually friendly and attentive. My most recent purchase was a pair of brand new pair of Geox dress shoes. While paying, I noticed some heavy dust particles floating down on me and my new shoes. I looked up and saw someone dusting the chandelier above. Naturally, both myself and the cashier were somewhat displeased by this as the chandelier was very dusty and Cinderella just couldn't take a hint that all the flying dust was extremely offensive. The cashier kept jumping back trying to avoid the dust, but didn't have the balls to advise her colleague to stop. I appreciate that they're keeping on top of the house cleaning, but such work ought to be done before and after opening hours, not when customers are paying. The last thing customers want is to have themselves and their new goods covered in dust. Also, I had brought in some garments for consignment. This included a gorgeous silk BCBG cocktail dress. Intricately beaded, worn only once and in fab condition. The buyer told me there was a stain on the front so couldn't accept it. I brought it home and examined it with my 20/20 vision and a magnifying glass. Definitely no stain. So weird as I've noticed garments there with stains, wear and tear, etc. The buyer expressed interest in taking my beautiful black silk bustier. Again worn just once and in great condition, but only offered an insulative $6 for it. It was bought in the U.K for well over a £100.00. What a joke. I'd rather donate it then have them sell it for me. read more

This is the new location that is now situated where the old BlockBuster used to be. They make the good use of the space and there is a lot of selection that is geared more toward the 40+ conservative mom's, however, I found a very nice dark grey basic pencil skit that is good for family functions and in the summer time for work. Customer service was neutral. read more

My first time consigning I tried this store. I need to wear Eileen Fisher for work but have dropped a few sizes and need to refresh. I took my 5 pieces of Eileen Fisher into the store. I was told to go to the counter on the left for appraisal. There was a young girl who wasn't familiar with the Eileen Fisher label and said that I should wait for about 20 minutes to see if they are willing to take any of the pieces. I wandered around the store and didn't see any high end clothing that was in good enough shape to buy. Just a lot of things crammed on to round racks. Nothing very elegant or useful for me. I returned to the counter only to be told that they would take all of the 5 pieces of Eileen Fisher but they wouldn't consign it. They would pay me out $34.00 for all five pieces. I was shocked and disappointed but decided I might as well donate to the Salvation Army. I talked to a few other of my co-workers and they recommended I try selling them on line. I did and I was thrilled. The first piece went for $115.00 US. the other 4 pieces sold for a RANGE OF $48- $76 EACH. I will never go to this store again and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. One more thing....there was a dreadful smell of body odor throughout which I guess is understandable but really doesn't make the store appealing. Sorry read more

Turnabout on main is friendly, fashionable, with a large selection for both men and women, staff are super helpful in helping you find what you're looking for, and the consignment counter is professional. I also love the selection of high end bags, shoes, sunglasses and jewelry, if I'm in the mood to shop with a budget it's my first stop. I consign here and have picked up more than a few pieces myself. Louis vuiton, Michael kors, coach, Prada, you name it they'll have it. But I also like the range, you can find anything from bb dakota to Aritzia to high end, even with tags attached, and the prices are great, I sometimes wonder why I even buy from stores at regular price when I find things here at a fraction. I went here as a favour to my mother. Let me say I have been reading Vogue since elementary school and read about fashion online almost daily so I know something about it. This place is just sad. Nothing old enough to be cool, but not new enough to be on trend. And beware of the 'designer' section. Real Prada does not have its tag only sewn on 2 corners to be flapping around. It's $4000+ new, do you think a shoddy sewing job is a sign of high fashion? And I don't expect to pay $150 for a fake Prada dress. Seriously, the same week I got a pair of dries van noten sandals at Value Village for $8! At least they have real vintage and aren't trying to be something they're not. Wonderful selection - curated without being overly sparse like some other vintage shops. Items were fairly priced, which seems a rarity nowadays (I'm looking at you, San Francisco consignment stores!). The store clerks were helpful, and although you could tell that they keep their eyes on people (I'm sure shoplifting must be a huge problem there), they were never overly invasive about it. Walked away with a beautiful Burberry chambray shirt for only about $40, and the husband made off like a bandit with 3 tops! The friend I was with told me about this new location and in that we were in the neighborhood we went in to check it out. I was immediately impressed with the huge size of the store and the clean and orderly layout. I didn't intend on buying anything but they had such a great selection to choose from and had just marked down some of the clothes so I ended up with three new outfits.
