Prices have been rising in recent years, so don't be discouraged if you go and find $40 boots, no designer jeans and cracked coffee canisters. You have to go back on a regular basis to diamond dig. I try to go here looking for something in mind. (Example: I come here a lot in summer to pick up canning jars, a dozen for $4, and then I'll peruse over boots, sweaters and coats -best to find in summer because people are mostly looking for shorts, tank tops and sandals) I don't always leave with the thing I was looking for, but I might find it next time I stop by. Such a unique thrift store…read more The Exchange is located on Orcas Island. It's not far from the ferry drop off, and an easy pitstop when your driving towards East Sound. This warehouse is filled with two-stories of second-hand goodies from the island. You'll find a large selection of kitchen gear, board games, winter items, and lightly-used treasures. They've done a great job separating each of the spaces, making individualized rooms and isles to showcase different categories of goods. There's a large space upstairs for all their outdoor and sports gear. I even saw a number of skis, boots, poles, and jackets that instantly caught my attention! Well, some wishes don't come true but I didn't forget to drop in and check out what they have in season. Their clothing boutique is small but quite sweet and was visually appealing. To my surprise, I found a Smart Set dress that was in an exceptional condition (SS was one of my fave stores that was discontinued). It fit like a glove and even better it was prized at $4! What a steal! This thrift store was a bit far off from downtown Langley but was worth the drive out. I would definitely come here again, especially when I donate again but also will be checking out any rare find!
