I love antique stores and the Alsum Trading Company in Lynden reminded me of the quintessential,…read moresmall town antique shop. There's two floors to explore in this absolutely huge building and they've got just about anything you can think of. During my most recent visit, I got a beautiful new bread basket, a 1969 Life magazine detailing the moon landing, and some new Christmas decorations. It's all over the place, as any good antique shop should be. The woman at the counter (I presume she is the owner) is super friendly too. They seem to run a fair amount of sales, so you might find something old you love at the perfect price. Have fun, take your time, and check this shop out!

I'm sure rents have gone up and Goodwill is feeling the pinch like a lot of businesses/not for profits these days but when your closest competition is Value Village and your prices match or exceed VV's, that's a red flag to me. Our most recent visit was definitely our most disappointing one. I found a number of interesting looking games, two of which had multiple price stickers. These two were both card games and when I brought these to the attention of an employee I was told that the higher of the marked prices were the most recent. Each of those card games was priced at $10, which to me was ludicrous. On the other hand, large boxed games like Monopoly were less than that. Clothing was also more expensive than I'm used to in this shop and so I found very little of interest. The selection and quality varies widely as you might expect, so you never know what you're going to find. Plenty of parking out front and the staff were friendly enough.

I don't want to seem selfish, But I would love it if your hours were extended later in the day. As a swing shifter, it's really tough to get there before 3:00pm. So, Mystery Thrift seems to have everything. Take extra time to navigate the entire store. It gets better and better. What makes it all worth it is the yard sale prices they always offer that cannot be beat by anyone. Have you ever found a hidden gem and secretly wished you could keep it all to yourself? I always find treasure at this local female owned business. They have a great selection of…read morehousehold items, furniture, art supplies, books and more. Clothes & shoes are more hit & miss. Vintage earrings for $3. Handmade art for $5. A vintage wooden leg ironing board for $15! Really kind people, and truly old school thrift shop prices that all of us long time thrifters appreciate. The location has plenty of parking, and the shop is quiet and cozy.
