It's amazing how long people hold onto furniture and clothes them release it for it to be discovered by who? Someone who refurbishes old pieces?! Because that's all that comes to mind. I want to strip them down and revamp the design however it would be a huge undertaking and in the end I would rather just have fun looking. The clothes here are not as abundant as value village but I found a cute dress for $5 and that's the kind of thrifting I like. I like to have lots of outfits to use for working on movies as an extra, or just to have. I've always enjoyed a good well loved piece, something clean but lived in with personality. Their are 3 thrift stores all located within minutes of each other. I also donate here , Talize and value village. Its all about the recycling of household items and clothes. I recently downsized after a move and it felt good to re-home some treasured gems and useful possessions.

( The proceeds from this store go to help children in one of four orphanages in Mexico. ) The store isn't huge, but the prices are so great. I couldn't believe it, after seeing what some of the other local larger thrift stores charge -sometimes more then the actual retail price ... *cough*VV*cough* Anyway I came just before closing, so I didn't get to look around much. They had a sign for 50% off yellow tags. I found 2 new in packaging Ty Beanie Baby's for 1.00$ each ( but they were yellow tagged making them 1.00$ for both ! ) my friend collects them, so I couldn't resist. They made an announcement that they were closing soon. Which I loved- I hate it when a store is closed with no prior warning. I then saw the shoes on display. Again, unlike VV they were clean and gently used. I had only brought my boots with me ( I was in town for a few days ) and really could of used some casual shoes to slip on, instead of wearing my thigh high boots all the time, during this trip. I wear a 10 in footwear, so it's not always easy finding my size. I asked the lady if it was too late to try them on, and she was super nice. She told me to go ahead. Both pairs fit, and at 2$ and 3$ each how could I go wrong ? I also bought a glass heart necklace ( see pic ) for 1.00$ ! They had a good sized book selection at the back. I love to read, and go through 4-5 books a week ( another reason I like thrift stores- I can get my book fix ) there was only a few minutes to spare, so I didn't have time to browse but I did pick out a hardcover book. The lady on cash was also super nice and friendly. She rang me up and got me a nice box for my necklace. The total for everything ? Only 9.60$ !! I'm sure if I had more time to look, I would of probably found more stuff I really didn't need. But thrift stores is a fun way to spend some time, and not a lot of money. The first shop among a dozen cafes and restaurants along the walk from Fort Langley into the village, this one is hard to miss. Step inside and immediately be transported to some stage of your life that you had forgotten, longed-for, or wished you had left behind. Find treasures and trinkets for everyone on your gift/souvenir list and then some. Be careful when talking through, especially with larger bags (which you are supposed to check at the stony) or with kids. There is a lot that is fragile and so much that can lure them in. Overall, a fun shop!

Coming to Fort Langley to spend a day is a treat in itself, but I can't but visit VAM almost every time I am in Town. With countless dealers within the mall, the selection and collection is incredible, there are items from different time periods and categories. The display in each dealer's enclave is outstanding in most cases, imagine how to display so many items in such a small area and still attract your audience! Personally, I started to collect Fire King Jadeite about 15 yrs. ago and I have bought more then a few pieces from this Mall. Currently, I am trying to expand my toy car collections such as the Bat Mobile, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the very rare Yellow Submarine!! This will give me more reason to keep coming back and see I am lucky enough to find one of them!

To my surprise, I found a Smart Set dress that was in an exceptional condition (SS was one of my fave stores that was discontinued). It fit like a glove and even better it was prized at $4! What a steal! This thrift store was a bit far off from downtown Langley but was worth the drive out. The shop, though looking small from the outside, has two levels of displays inside, and is well-stocked with a fine range of various collectibles, antiques, and such. I liked and appreciated the ambiance -- it was quiet (background music, at low level), with lighting appropriate to the kind of establishment and offerings -- and our cordial and informative host. We enjoyed browsing the several areas of the shop, and checking out the various displays. And amongst the looking around, asking our host a few questions about the shop, and some of the items we found of most interest. It was good to see this fine shop back in business, and wish them well in their endeavours.
