Great experience here recently. They had a 70% off clearance sale going on with plenty of merchandise to browse through. Lots of shoppers in the store and the clothing was a bit disorganized in the men's section... Probably as a result of the traffic flow. Expect to find everything from shoes to shorts, sweaters to jeans and everything in between. Regular prices seemed fair... Few items priced more than $20. On this visit I bought a couple tees and a couple sweaters. I was picky with what I chose and was pleased with the final haul and price paid(under $40)! This was my first introduction to this franchise and I was pleasantly surprised overall. I did not have much interaction with staff except for paying for my purchases but they seemed nice. My girlfriend of many years just died and I have been like a second mom to her daughter so I am trying to get funds together so she can pay for the funeral home. My girlfriend was basically bedridden the the past 7-8 years but that didn't stop her from shopping online. So I washed everything except for clothes and shoes that still had tags on them. I was referred to Plato's Closet so I took about a third of everything to them. There is about 100 pair of shoes 80% brand new, purses brand new. Dresses and pants brand new still with tags or in original plastic bags. A tote full of Betty Boop stuff in new condition.There was no insurance so I was selling everything. When I had taken the 6+ boxes in the 2 young girls Stephanie and Savana said they wouldn't take them because they could smell smoke on them. Yes I had a cigarette on the way to the store, I wasn't aware of this policy. As I said I had washed every item so they could undoubtedly smell smoke on me but all of these clothes were in sealed boxes and these girls never so much as open any of the boxes. There are other stores and never will I recommend this store to anyone. I even offered to rebag everything and bring them back but I could tell it would be a waste of my time. Maybe because I'm in my 70's they thought these clothes wouldn't be "young" enough, how wrong they were. I'm so angry right now because they never so much as opened any of the boxes. Management shouldn't allow teenagers to be making these kind of decisions. Shame on Plato's Closet! Guess I'll jump on the wagon of people saying they should have checked reviews before wasting their time. So I went in with a pretty big bag of high end items. Figured I'd have to get something decent. They said it would take about 20 min to go through it. So I just went and grabbed coffee. Got a message saying my items are ready for an offer. So the lady says, we picked 12 items from your bag and will give you $36. I nearly fell over, good thing there was a counter to lean on. I was like what the hell did they want. Keep in mind they were almost brand new clothes. They wanted a couple pairs of jeans, romper, a zara dress, nike shirts and a few others ...... anyways so she said. Oh you have a new Michael kors dress which is new but unfortunately we can't give you what it's worth. Like what? I guess they would feel pretty stupid giving me their max amount per item which is $4. So I said ok. I'll just take all my stuff back. So ya... better off selling on market place or other online platforms. read more

It was terrible. The place looked like a dump and clothes were everywhere, shoes were in containers on the floor. It was messy and clothes were in terrible shape. If you have clothes you want to resell do NOT go there. They give little money for expensive items, it is terrible, again they give you NO money. I was watching the workers and they took all the decent clothing for themselves, pretty much handfuls and left crappy old clothes behind to be picked over. I have sold to Plato's and sadly each time I feel as though they give you a limited amount for each product that you give them to almost an extreme. For tops that sold to them you're given approximately $2-3 and they are turned around and sold for $10-$12. Plato's is a good option to shopping and reducing environmental consumption of new products, if you strictly stick to their used products not their new ones. They have the majority of their selection in smaller sizes, and they only stock casual to semi formal clothing. They do have some great finds, you just need to check regularly, and look through all the racks. Because it's a fancy value village/ second hand shop. read more

Never going back. Took a big bag of very well taken care of clothes, some never worn and still with tags. And even a Kate spade bag. Walked around the store for an hour waiting for them to finish, because I came from Chilliwack and didn't want to drive back again. They took two things and gave me $6. Didnt take the bag, or any of the other really good items I brought in. But they'll for sure take any ripped up disgusting sweatshirt. Cause that makes lots of sense. You're better off posting to 24 hour bidding or market place. Don't waste your time. read more

The staff are rude and act as if they are selling high end items. They offer you 1-4$ per item and that's if it's perfect. I brought in $138 lulu pants with the tag on and they offered me $4....? Better off trying to see on marketplace on Facebook or a better consignment store. read more

Not worth the visit. Every time I've come in the staff have been extremely snobby and rude, making me and other people I know feel very unwelcome! There is also a huge lack of continuity in what they accept, they rejected all of the clothes I brought in... but then a week later I took them in again and almost half were accepted. Unfair payout as well, gave them an $80 pair of vintage Urban Outfitter pants with the tag still on and they expected to give me about $3 for it. Now, I'm no expert on fashion but that seems like a really bad deal, lol!! I normally do not like to be harsh with places like this, but I feel it's necessary as well as accurate, and I know for a fact that many other people in this community agree completely. If management sees this, then I hope your main takeaway is this: demand a better attitude from your staff, their attitude is reminiscent of the mean girls from high school. read more

This place is an absolute joke they offered me 13$ for 10 items TEN that's a dollar .20 per item that was including jeans and dresses and shirts that retailed for 20-50 dollars each. Very upset with Plato's closet. I put a hold on an item online.... Was the first comment. Called beforehand to make sure the item was still available. Drove from maple ridge to abbotsford. Only to check my phone and see the item was sold..... so I called them before walking in only to be told it was sold..... what's the point of having a hold policy if u can't follow it..... wasted gas for no reason. I wish I would have read the reviews on yelp before driving an hour to bring my lightly used items here - I called before visiting and asked to have the process of how things work explained to me over the phone - they did NOT explain to me that I have only 24 hours to come back and get any money and items that they did not accept. The concept of this store is great. However, they are very disorganized, rude, and not understanding. They treat this store as if it was a high-end store. They told me it was a 24-hour phone call policy then they changed it to a 24-drop off policy. When they called me, they were trying to force me to drop everything I was doing and make my boyfriend drive all the way back. I called back saying I signed a contract for 24-hour phone call policy and picked my stuff up the next day. They were very rude and making me feel very unwelcomed. The girl was giving me attitude about how it was a 24-hour drop off policy, and I told her I was informed it was a 24-hour phone call policy. As someone who was a supervisor in retail, they need to accommodate situations of customers and learn their store policies prior to notifying customers. A "sorry" or a reasoning for the misunderstanding would have been greatly appreciated. In the end, they chose very limited items from my donations and left brand name clothes (brand new adidas sweater and lululemon). I'm thankful I only stopped to this store on the way to my friends birthday celebration and didn't make the drive out for such horrible customer service and little cash received for the amount of trendy, gently used clothing I was donating. 5/5 will not go back. read more

If I could I would give this place a zero stars. First of all the staff is always rude, the clothing they sell is ridiculously expensive for second hand. They say it's because it's all in "great condition" but the clothing in store is so out of date, ugly, stained, and dirty. I always bring in name brand items, and they Always pass. I brought in blundstone boots that are over $250+. They offered me less then $12... kind of ridiculous. Selling your stuff to this franchise is a scam. They lowball all the items and sell it for almost quadruple the price. Don't waste your time selling here or shopping here. Value village has better stuff then them. Sell on marketplace or bidding sites. It's way easier and you'll get the actual value of your items. I will never shop here nor sell to here again as I am tired of being scammed. The first time I dropped off clothes and some shoes they gave me 40$ then the next time I go in with some Aldo shoes and name brands they only took the shoes and 1 shirt and gave me 8$ and said the other clothes were not in good enough condition felt ripped off and pissed. I tried a last go I had champion , Nike , ex in great condition never really warn and they only took 1 shirt and made me wait an hour to get 2 fucken dollars but as I walk around the store I see shoes and shirts that has stains and rips and that just look like shit tbh and they won't take my stuff when it might have barely some use as all used clothes do but they are so unfair and will just rip you the fuck off and pretty much throw you to the curb with 5$ for 50$ shoes don't waste your time at this place it's not fucken worth it! read more

Wouldn't recommend coming here, brought in a big bag of pretty much all brand new or brand named clothing including an excellent condition kate spade bag. Waited around for hours for them to finish up, while the staff were quite un helpful and rude when I would ask when around they would be done with my order. After waiting for about 2 hours they offered me about $40 for my whole donation including my bag. You're better off selling online or going to any other consignment store. read more

Over all, really awesome place! I go there very often! Friendly staff. But when it comes to bringing things in there... they are VERY PICKY! I took a brand new nike bra there... and a bunch of other nike, American Eagle, lululemon brand things and they only took one thing! Out of a bun of probably 20. Not super impressed. And also there selection of sizes... a lot of Xsmall, Small, medium... but lacking in the bigger sizes. My items still smelled like bounce dryer sheets as i washed everything before taking it in. Was told to wash them and bring back the items and they may consider looking at them at that point. Store owner called to explain the reasoning and that he reviewed the video and conversation i had with the staff. friends and i have brought clothes in many times and will come away from the store with only 9 items taken and $14 in our pockets (an experience we had the other day). they will only take 'name brand' and if it's not name brand it's meh, looking clothing which is what i see in the store. ill be denied 3 bins of clothes, given a small amount for kappa, american eagle + crooks and castles brand items. i feel ripped off everytime i walk out. i walk around the store and see items with stains or small tears but if it's my stuff or others i know bringing their stuff in they wont take it in because its 'not good condition' read more

They were super friendly when I came in. Scripted greeting on what they are looking for. Very picky on what they take. Which I think is good because you want to have a good product. But They are geared towards teens so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised they took my garage and American eagle items. But passed on the guess dresses, talula, lululemon and items from mantique because it didn't match the target age. And they don't want business casual wear. The garage dress they bought off me was 7 years old only worn once so they can't tell me they only buy stuff 1-2 years old. Lol. Horrible customer service. Yes, the store is at this time brand new and accepting literally bucket loads of used clothing. I had to wait an entire day for staff to have a chance to go through and "make me an offer" on my gently used clothing. I don't mind making the drive out here as consignment is always worth while for me and I have visited Plato's Closet in the states with great success and satisfaction. However, I do not recommend this location as the staff needs a serious attitude adjustment and a note for management, an electronic system to locate boxes of clothing efficiently when people come to pick them up. If you need help, ask for it they say, however due to inexperience and a serious lack of leadership, staff were unable to locate my items right away and they did not ackowledge my frustrations, no apology (hello customer service 101, empathy) AND staff had the audacity to make up excuses and basically tell me to p*ss off. I don't expect this location to last long at all, do not waste your gas or time to make the trip out here. read more

drove over and went in with only 1 person ahead of me in line it took them an hour and a half to process a medium bag of items,they had 1 staff member greeting everyone that walked in but then that staff member was apparently the only one that could do this and put through the items in the computer while the other staff just stood around and walked in circles.its supposedly "first come first serve" but they only seem to care about the people who just walk in and then leave you standing there for an hour + , I get they are new but you think you would figure out a better system then this.. I hope they find out a more productive way to do things , unless you are okay with ditching your clothes there and coming back again within 24hours not even worth your time read more
