I dropped off some prized-pieces of dresses, shoes and clothing items I have been trying to keep for years, wishing some day I may be able to fit in them again. Well, some wishes don't come true but I didn't forget to drop in and check out what they have in season. Their clothing boutique is small but quite sweet and was visually appealing. To my surprise, I found a Smart Set dress that was in an exceptional condition (SS was one of my fave stores that was discontinued). It fit like a glove and even better it was prized at $4! What a steal! This thrift store was a bit far off from downtown Langley but was worth the drive out. I would definitely come here again, especially when I donate again but also will be checking out any rare find!

I didn't even know that was the case at first, as it's so bright, clean and organized. It looks like a smaller department store. Clothing is arranged by size, and then within that size, by colour. They have a good selection of cool clothing that looks to be in good to excellent condition. However there were a few items that screamed retire me please ! Besides woman's, men's and kids clothes, they have -Toys - they had some Monster high dolls for cheap ! -Books - good fair price -Housewears -Accessories -Footwear The change rooms are large and you can bring up to 9 items in at a time. They have a loyalist card which earns points with every purchase. You can also get 30% off coupon with large 2 bag donation. Overall Impression Penny Pincher is a classic…read morecommunity‑driven thrift store with a more personal, small‑shop feel. It's quieter, less chaotic, and often more affordable than the big chains, making it a great stop for budget hunters and anyone who enjoys slower, more intentional browsing. Strengths of Penny Pincher - Lower prices -- One of the most budget‑friendly thrift stores around. Clothing, books, and household items are often significantly cheaper than Value Village or Talize. - Community vibe -- Staff and volunteers are friendly, and the store feels like a local staple rather than a corporate chain. - Hidden gems -- Because it's smaller and less picked over, you can find unique items that would disappear instantly at bigger stores. - Calmer environment -- No overwhelming crowds or massive aisles. It's easy to take your time and actually enjoy the hunt. - Good for household basics -- Kitchenware, décor, linens, and small home items are usually well‑priced and in good condition. Things to Expect - Smaller selection -- Inventory is limited compared to Value Village or Talize, so you won't always find what you're looking for. - Electronics are rare -- Speaker hunters won't get much action here; the electronics section is small and inconsistent. - Stock depends heavily on donations -- Some days are fantastic, others are dry. - Shorter hours -- Being a community shop, it doesn't stay open as late as the big chains. Who Penny Pincher Is Perfect For - Shoppers who want low prices without corporate markups. - People who enjoy quiet, relaxed thrifting. - Hunters looking for unique home items or vintage pieces. - Anyone doing a full Surrey thrift circuit who wants a calm mid‑stop between the bigger stores. Quick, Review‑Ready Summary Penny Pincher is a cozy, community‑run thrift store with excellent prices and a relaxed atmosphere. The selection is smaller but often more unique, and the staff make the experience warm and welcoming. It's not the place for electronics or big hauls, but it's a great stop for affordable clothing, home goods, and unexpected treasures.

I like thrift stores when I'm out of town, and have time to kill. It's fun to see what kinda cool…read morestuff you can find, as well as helping out a good cause. ( The proceeds from this store go to help children in one of four orphanages in Mexico. ) The store isn't huge, but the prices are so great. I couldn't believe it, after seeing what some of the other local larger thrift stores charge -sometimes more then the actual retail price ... *cough*VV*cough* Anyway I came just before closing, so I didn't get to look around much. They had a sign for 50% off yellow tags. I found 2 new in packaging Ty Beanie Baby's for 1.00$ each ( but they were yellow tagged making them 1.00$ for both ! ) my friend collects them, so I couldn't resist. They made an announcement that they were closing soon. Which I loved- I hate it when a store is closed with no prior warning. I then saw the shoes on display. Again, unlike VV they were clean and gently used. I had only brought my boots with me ( I was in town for a few days ) and really could of used some casual shoes to slip on, instead of wearing my thigh high boots all the time, during this trip. I wear a 10 in footwear, so it's not always easy finding my size. I asked the lady if it was too late to try them on, and she was super nice. She told me to go ahead. Both pairs fit, and at 2$ and 3$ each how could I go wrong ? I also bought a glass heart necklace ( see pic ) for 1.00$ ! They had a good sized book selection at the back. I love to read, and go through 4-5 books a week ( another reason I like thrift stores- I can get my book fix ) there was only a few minutes to spare, so I didn't have time to browse but I did pick out a hardcover book. The lady on cash was also super nice and friendly. She rang me up and got me a nice box for my necklace. The total for everything ? Only 9.60$ !! I'm sure if I had more time to look, I would of probably found more stuff I really didn't need. But thrift stores is a fun way to spend some time, and not a lot of money. Langley seems to have a awful lot of thrift stores, so if you are in town, add this one to your list of places to stop by!
