Most everything about this store is terrible. Prices are erratic with many vintage items regardless of condition priced over $30 And others over $50 or even $100. Other items are cheap despite being valuable. Items sometimes still have the original store price on them and it is often lower than the thrift price which is insane. The store is littered with broken items still priced high. Knockoffs are priced like the real deal. Items with little value like Hummel figures are bagged and priced outrageously high even with heads broken off or hands missing. So many items are bagged and you cannot see what is in the bag. Identical items are split up and spread around the store. Items that should be sold together are priced separately and irrationally. I once saw two identical items in two different locations. One was priced at $8 and the other at $26. Neither was worth even the lower price. read more

Value Village had came up in my social media feed pretty frequently, and I saw that it was about an hour away from Manhattan, so I chose a weekday, after work, that did not seem to be a beautiful possible beach day, and drove to New Jersey to check out this very large thrift store, That the videos were made to show quality items at decent prices. Value Village is very organized, and carries a very, very large selection of goods. All the way in the back, you will find miscellaneous, electronics, and small pieces of furniture in addition to books, records, DVDs, CDs, and the quintessential shelves of knickknacks. I believe they also had the little baggies of smaller items hanging off of hooks, not really things that I find interest in, but it did seem to be smaller items such as arts and crafts. I did observe a large section of comforters, very large section of dresses, including party or prom dresses, which I've honestly not seem too many times before but then again it's not really the thing I'm ever looking for so. they did have three tag color sale, 25% 50% 75%. I did observe a Kate Spade handbag, green leather marked $74.99 with the tag color that would have been 50% off. I am not new to the thrifting game if you wanna call it that and $35 for a handbag at a thrift store still a bit of a stretch, however high value the name brand is. I only bought four items for myself I spent less than $17 (brands I purchased - Guess /Express/Kenneth Cole/ Ae) they have a self-serve kiosk. I put a $20 bill in, took my receipt and walked away forgetting my change and the young man chased me down outside to give me my 3$ that was probably the sweetest thing anyone has ever done and I appreciated it very much! read more

This "thrift" shop is a joke. Their prices are through the roof. The bags behind their counters are priced usually higher than eBay. I asked the manager why a bag was listed for $340 when on eBay it is $200. She looked me dead in the eyes and said "so when the color goes on sale we still get a good price". I asked her why half the bags behind the counter were fake and she shrugged and turned away from me. read more

As an avid Thrifter when I'm in an area and have some time I always want to check out a local thrift store. This location happened to be near my other appointment so I figured I would check it out. It is in a large shopping center so there is plenty of parking and it is relatively easy to find. It's a pretty large store so they had a variety of all of the things that you would expect at a thrift store some clothes, books, electronics, toys, housewares, etc. The only cool thing about it is the self check out. It's the first time I've seen a self check out at a thrift store. Oddly there's a sign on the door asking not to take pictures. But of course as a yelp elite I got a few win. I made sure not to include any of the people in the pictures. It gets one star for a few reasons. It had a very very low inventory. I've never seen racks this empty at a thrift store. I don't know where they get their items from but clearly they aren't getting enough donations. Second these are very low end items. You are not going to find that designer treasure that I often find at other stores. The prices also didn't reflect the low quality of the items. This is one I definitely will not return to and I couldn't recommend to others. read more

This thrift store has the most outrageous prices. $6 for a used DVD, $12 for a mug. $9 for a stuffed animal they put holes in with staples.

PROS: The staff here is very nice and all lanes are express checkout. Loads of parking and nice little nicnacs on display as well. This place used to be my favorite thrift store. The past year or so, the prices have become so high that there are literally no deals to be had anymore. It's like someone is sitting in the back googling what things are worth and ADDING a few bucks. It's a shame that you can't even get deals as a THRIFT store anymore. Also, the lady that handles the jewelry will ignore you all day. Doesn't matter how long you stand there, you will be invisible to her. I have donated to this store for years, which is why I am so disappointed with how their new security guard treated my daughter. A few weeks ago, while thrifting here my 86 year old mother was able to rest by the furniture section and sit on a second hand chair, as were other elderly people. Today it looks like they have a new security guard in the store. My daughter who has an immune disorder was sitting on a chair waiting for me to get out of the bathroom. The security guard told her to get off the chair that the store has a policy now that you can't sit on the used furniture. My daughter explained that she can't stand for long periods of time. The security guard told my daughter then you can sit on the floor (which is dirty and puts her and others in harm's way). My daughter is also neuro divergent and got very upset by this treatment. My daughter was told she needed to leave the store and was banned from coming back because she used explicatives at the Security Guard. It was a very embarassing scene that could have been avoided had the security guard took the time to understand the reasoning and been informed of the American Disabilities Act. The ADA states: Do thrift stores have to provide somewhere to sit for people that are disabled? Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), retail stores, including thrift stores, are required to provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. This can include providing seating if it is necessary for someone with a disability to access the store's services. The ADA Standards for Accessible Design require that public accommodations remove barriers to access and provide an environment where customers with disabilities can shop with ease and dignity. If seating is necessary for you due to your autoimmune disease, the store should make reasonable efforts to accommodate your needs. If you encounter resistance or non-compliance, you can report the violation. I'm still trying to decide if I should report the security guard and the store. I want all disabled individuals to be aware of this and to reference the ADA should you be harassed by this security guard. It boggles the mind how at a thrift store, a place where people spend hours looking through the merchandise the store is really not going to provide a place to sit for people that are elderly or have a disability. Wow what a craphole place. Heres a little background on me. I have been professionally reselling for years and I make more then the average income for a person in NJ. I know what im talking about. Ofcourse im salty because the prices are ridiculous. But I cant understand at all why people still shop here. And the place is busy too. I firmly believe people shop here because they have money to waste from there government checks and its the only reason the doors are still open. There are other places to go with better quality stuff and way cheaper prices. People obviously arent aware of that. The prices at a thrift store should be affordable. The idea should be to turn over all there items and actually sell them. But im pretty sure they mark off the stuff they throw away and get a break on taxes or something like that. Otherwise this business model is a complete failure. You have homemade stuff coming out at $25 or $35 or more. Everything that looks nice is over 10 bucks. The only reason this all works is because things shift to 25-50-75% off. So when the price drops its finally may be worth it. But they stick a price tag more expensive then prices you can get stuff for online. I personally would not spend any money here unless you are buying something valuable they missed. By supporting them you are supporting there price gouging. Again shop around. There are other thrift stores nearby. Specifically one a few blocks away with half the prices and the quality is 10x better. Another thing to note is their intense security. Its literally a thrift store and they act like its a bank with the security and the tenseness around the registers. People always steal in businesses, so I get countering it..but I dont think security at a thrift store needs a gun. Not to mention the workers stare you down even if you are a regular. The place thinks everything they touch is worth a fortune when in reality they are supported by customers that are ill-knowledge buying their junk. Shop other places and let this place go under so the goods they receive can actually go to a store with good business practices. Ill be honest, seeing this these days makes me sick to see how the world works and how most business's goal is just to gouge their customers. I find the store to be very clean and organized.I donate as well as purchase,going home satisfied in both subjects. I live on a low income and purchase clean sometimes even new items. Lamps boots curtains the variety of items goes on and on.Being open on Sunday is also a plus .I never go home empty handed and brag about this place to almost everyone I'm in contact with.The girl that brought me here is the only thing I could even thank her for. This is a very well organized thrift shop relatively conveniently located near the Hawthorne train station as well as route 208. They have everything from housewares to flannel shirts- the latter is my favorite item to buy there in the men's section. Everything is clearly priced; they do have sales but I think you have to be on their app to get that information. It does get crowded but they opened up more automated registers. They also accept donations across the spectrum of items; the only challenge is when you bring your donations you might want to shop! I always thought it would be funny if I ended up buying something that I had donated years ago. Please think twice before you throw things out; there's so many places that except your second hands -sending them to a landfill is not a solution! Even rags can go in the clothing dumpster you see at your local grocery store. And buying used clothes avoids the deleterious impacts from 'fast fashion.' read more

Best thrift shop in the area by far. Tagged prices can be high but be sure to look for the daily mark downs. Price tags are all color coded and every day three colors are picked to be 75%, 50%, and 25% off. Those mark down deals really can't be beat. The store usually very clean and organized. there's a lot in this store and they have various items that aren't just clothing and accessories. i got three t-shirts there yesterday and it cost me over $16, i got something on sale too. i think it's a bit pricey for second hand clothing... i've been to a few other places that sell stuff for much less than this. something i really didn't like was their lack of air conditioning. i can never get through the whole shop as wished without heat exhaustion! i really want to get a good look. i've gone here @ least twice and every single time i overheated very quickly. read more

Really really big thrift store with a ton of stuff. If you've been to a MyUnique thrift store, it's owned by them. 50% off on New Years Day. Some of their high-end, high price stuff are fake (LV, etc) so definitely look closely. Otherwise large store if you like to browse, although I'm not sure if you'll find anything super good. read more

Personally me and my friend had a very nice experience at this thrift store it was a little bit pricey but my friend saved $125 on a pair of Jordan 4s and I saved 84 bucks on air forces I will admit that the staff was a bit rude but not tooo bad it was very organized and clean overall it is a must go! read more

Im a lot of cases Marshall's or TJ Max are better deals! Owners need to understand that thrift shops are for folks who can't provide stuff at normal retail rates! The other thing is that the way their app randomly select people for 50% discount is unfair ... I never got selected or recieved any notification, while my inlaws get it every week!? I am excited to have a big thrift shop nearby, however there are some negative things about it. The pros are that it's usually well stocked and the self checkout is convenient. There's always seasonal items and a wide variety of unique finds. As others have said, the prices can be ridiculous. There are different sales daily and you can get some great deals. But a lot of the stuff is way overpriced. They also sell used toiletries which is just ewwwww. A half empty bottle of VO5 shampoo was $2... there's a dollar tree a few doors down where you can get a brand new one! I also saw a single roll of TP for $2...???? Also some of the staff seems to speak little to no English, which makes it impossible for many of us to ask questions. And staff frequently is rolling around big carts of merchandise and asking customers to move which is rude. Some are very nice though. All in all I recommend checking it out and you may find a great deal. I'd give it 3.5 stars. read more

My first time going here and I traveled a long way. I came from jersey city to come here specifically. The store is very huge and have a ton of selection of all items. I picked out about 10 items to try on. And I left with only 4 items due to sizing and etc. The employees were nice, not great customer service but they were nice. No complaints there. However a lot of the items were wayyyy over priced. And I thrift a lot so I know they price ranges for most items. Some items had stains on them and were like $20+. Out of the items I got the most I paid was $11, originally $15 but there was a 25% off. I couldn't bring myself to spend more than that. But like I said they did have a lot of selection available. And I'm super happy with the items I got. Another complaint would be the bathrooms which smelled terrible and only allowing 3 items in the fitting room. I think atleast 5 would b good. I was there with my wife , then I saw a chair that I like it . I sat on it and I told my wife I want this chair , it is comfy and good price. I was sitting on the chair for a few minutes while my wife went to the lady's department and get something for herself while I was waiting for her a guy came to tell me that I can't. seat on that chair. I assumed he was a security guard. He didn't show me any ID or wear a vest or t-shirt that indicate me so. He asked if I'm goanna buy it. Which I answer yes then he kept saying that I can't seat on the chair. I ask him if he can't wait for me to go to the register why don't you take one my cards I had few cards on my hand . he said no I can't take your card then I said you have to wait for me to go to the register my wife is not here yet . so the argument escalate by him saying I can't seat on the chair so I got and went for my wife , he was following me saying I have to leave the store . I can't leave the store with my wife still in there without knowing what's going on he escorted me to my wife and said you have to leave the store. so we left empty handed . We are disappointed because we been there for years, and I was surprised he was rushing me to pay for the chair or don't seat on it. read more

If I could, I would give this place 0 out of 5 stars. I have been to a 100 thrift stores and never in my life have I been so outrageously confused and flabbergasted beyond belief at the prices in this thrift store. someone had to say it and its going to be me. most if not all the clothes are very old, fabric worn and tattered. The clothes are very outdated with what seems like little turnover from recent donations. all of the items i picked up were 15$, 25$, 40$ .... etc. I would never write a review like this and am a very kind person, however, I am appalled by the prices in this "thrift store." Things would be different if this was a vintage consignment shop with very nice pieces but not a single thing was worth the price in this thrift store. This is not how you do business as a thrift store. it's like they missed the mark completely. have you ever been to goodwill? no thrift store should have items over 20$ unless they are high end designer or vintage pieces. The best place to go around bergen county is American thrift in passaic. Very organized store, by item and color and nothing looks 100 years old. pretty recent donations all the time if i must say. Be wary shopping here, they decided to change the price of a dress I wanted to buy from $25 to $50 and accused me of changing the tag. I don't even know how to do that and they SHOWED ME. This store has amazing treasures that they get FOR FREE. Everything is extremely over price and the company is extremely greedy. I've only just discovered this place, after just moving to Glen Rock. It's pretty hit and miss, but I've picked up the odd kitchen item in good repair for a good price - some tea cups, a serving platter and some sturdy ice cream scoops. It's extremely well organized and the kitchen and homewares are nicely arranged, but I'm still looking for a real bargain. I'll just have to keep visiting. read more

Prices are cheaper in stores than at Value Village. And most people don't know this, but it's a for profit store, none of the money collected helps anyone but the owners. Fun selection and ok pricing [some things were priced pretty high]. After making selections for an hour or so we went to check out. They had self checkout and no bags for items. Lastly, when a shirt didn't have a tag, I asked the attendee who said I couldn't buy it and walked away with my item. I'm sure the employees at value village aren't paid the highest, but when did it become ok to be blatantly unhelpful? It's a thrift store right? Shirts in general are $15 or less and it shouldn't be too hard to code in a price for an item you sell all day everyday.
