I was going to give up on Chi Nhien due to her lack of responses to your inquiries. However, she will work on your tax correction and contact you unexpectedly. It took her a while to complete the EIC schedule and submitted to IRS for my case. She also made the inquiry to IRS on my behalf. It can be very frustrating to wait for answers from Chi Chien, but I always try to give her time and patience because she has so many clients to work on. My cousin recommended Nhien to do my taxes for this past year when I quit my full-time job to start my own business... so I had absolutely no idea what to do. The wait to be seen is forever (worse than the hospital) even if you come on a weekday. I had to wait at least three hours in the middle of a Thursday. Fortunately you just put your name and phone number on a waiting list, so if you fancy going shopping or grabbing coffee while you wait, it's pretty convenient. The actual process was confusing, because Nhien's assistant kept throwing questions at me about my finances, and if I didn't know how to answer them, she would answer them for me. Seemed sketchy at first. When it came down to it, Nhien was very helpful in offering bookkeeping advice in the future years of my business. She was quick (the actual process of doing my taxes took less than 30 minutes) and very professional. She told me that she receives the majority of her business from referrals, which is pretty awesome. I was charged $300, and while that felt like a LOT, I would rather pay that much knowing that my taxes are done right... which I'm assuming they are if she is a legitimate business. This place is a horrible place that scams you for your money! I came here to seek help in filling out documents because I wanted to sue a company that scammed me for my money. I came here and paid her thinking she would do what she said she would. She called me once and I called her once. After I paid her I didn't hear from her anymore. She said she was going to fill out all the documents necessary and send it to both the court and BBB. After months of not hearing or receiving anything I gave BBB a call and they told me she had filed some paper but she didn't file it to the right place. BBB told me she was suppose to file these papers to small court claims. I tried calling her multiple times and she didn't respond. By then I had taken matters into my own hands. I did everything myself and I ended up taking her to court too for scamming me for my money. Once I took her to court she tried to threaten me saying that if I don't dismiss the case, she will give all the documents to the company I was trying to sue for scamming me. Wow. Just wow. -100 stars if I can. Today was the last straw. Been going to this lady for several years and never in my life did I think she would do me dirty. I just came back home from waiting in the freezing cold for 15 mins just to get my tax folder back. Long story short, she filed my taxes and I trusted her. Turns out, she filed it however she wanted. I specifically told her not to file my joint taxes if it affects the other party. Well, guess what? She said "don't worry, it won't affect the other party, trust me." And of course, after years of going to her, I trusted her even though I kept repeating to not affect the other party. After giving her a few (unexpected) hundred of dollars - I thought yay, don't have to worry about my taxes for this year anymore. WRONG. I received noticed from the other party that their tax person saw something fishy in the report. I questioned Nhien and said "did you file my taxes wrong? It has affected the other party." She screamed through the phone and said she did nothing wrong! Then tell me to come by to remove some information. I did what I was told, I came by Friday thinking I can talk to her but she told me to drop off my folder and that she can't drop what she's doing to help me. She said come back night time. I gave her the weekend to work on my taxes. I came back noon time (lunch time from work) on Monday and she told me everything is done but she can't help me cause she's too busy so come back night time. I came back after work, She screamed at me "I'm too busy right now to help you! Come back a later time!" I asked her what time would be best cause she never gave me a time. She said "I don't know! I'll call you." With my sister experiencing the same thing with Nhien (took Nhien a year to amend my sister tax cause my sister kept bugging her), my sister told me don't let her manipulate and bully you! She said Nhien will never call you. You have to come real late at night when there's no customers. So I came back at 9pm that day. Still the same customers waiting from 5pm so I said I'll come tomorrow in hopes it'll be less busy. Well, I came back 9pm on Tuesday and yes, it was less busy but there's still a few customer so I didn't bother to come in to ask her about my taxes. I told myself, Wednesday will be even less busy! If not, then I'll come back next week. So today is Wednesday. Yay! As I approached her store, there was just a couple doing their taxes and a worker with her. SCORE!! But nope, as I reached to open the door, it was locked. They all looked at me and asked Nhien if they should open and I'm sure she said no. So the whole time they avoided eye contact. Being the person I am, I doubted that she would let me stand in the freezing cold. 5 mins past, I was in disbelief. I called her. She didn't pick up. Okay, I will knock on the door. The people looked and looked away. Outraged. I looked up to see a mail window, poked through it and screamed "can I get my folder back please!" Ignored. Pissed at this point - 10 mins have passed. Called someone for advice but could not calm my anger and I was screaming in front of her store like a crazy person. At this point it was 9pm even more cold then when I first got there. My nose sniffling. My body clenching itself to keep warm. My other hand in my pocket to keep warm. After 5 mins of screaming in front of her store, she told her clients to hand me my folder through the mail window crack! Probably scared I was calling the police on her like her other previous clients. Thanks for letting me wait in the cold for 15 mins just to get my folder back. Totally unnecessary. Could have told me to find another tax person to amend my taxes instead of going through all this!! I received my tax folder exactly the same as when I handed her to fix. She did jack. I personally have been going here for my taxes for 2 years and I really like Nhien's genuine demeanor even as someone who is very business orientated. Though she doesn't take bs from anyone.. Which is a good attitude for the location (no offense- I grew up around here). She remembers me already and shares great advice/stories. It's interesting to see. She sometimes has students that she helps train to do this kind of work to prepare them for licensure tests. This place does not look like an fancy office- don't expect that going in or you willl be thrown off. She is good for complicated taxes ( in example : someone who has multiple w2s and attends school) and she's quick. In 2011 a co worker brought me to this tax place, slash travel, slash book keeping, slash everything. She tells me to pay her $250 to get my taxes done. I pay $250 cash and my taxes get done. No problem. I have some back taxes from 2008, 2009, 2010. She says she has to charge me $250 for each year. I pay her the $750 and she said she will take care of it. On the same day I asked her to cancel a corporation I had started. She said that will cost me $500 and she will take care of it. I give her a total of $1250 in cash that day and she never gives me a receipt when I asked for one. She says, dont worry about it, I know you, between me and you, you dont need one. So assuming it should be fine, no worries since I got my first tax refund back, no problem. time to file my 2012 taxes. She does my taxes and my wife's taxes. I pay her $250 for myself and $150 for my wife, a total of $400 dollars. We swipe my credit card and mysteriously her machine is broken so she goes, just come back tomorrow and pay me cash. I was like okay, no problem. Next day I come back, her office is filled with people. I come in, I pay her with my cash and waited for a receipt and she kept putting it off by saying that she is super busy and kept reassuring me that we should be fine without a receipt because she knows us. Again, I agreed. We filed in feb 2013 and we waited until about may 2013. We sit her wondering where the heck is our tax return! I check the IRS website and it says no records found. Im hoping we somehow entered the information wrong. So we give Ms. Nhien Le a call. To my surprise she says we have a balance??? I was like we paid you, How much do we owe you? She says $400!!!! I wanted to rip out my hair, waiting 3 months and getting this type of response? On top of that, the taxes from 2008-2010 barred me from getting my taxes in 2012! So I paid her for those years and nothing was ever done! The corporation that I paid her $500 for was never even cancelled because til this day I still receive statements from the Franchise Tax Board asking for my tax returns!!! SHE IS A THIEF! When you provide a service and you dont deliver, that is considered stealing in my book and the total amount that she stole from me is, $2050 for everything. NEVER AGAIN. I know I am not the only one she stole from. When the cops came they even said that this isnt the first time theyve been here. Even the neighboring businesses came by and asked my wife, why was she crying. They said that there is people that come here everyday and complain! I agree with every one's comments about this place. The owner Nhien Le is horrible and tricks people into believing that they will get more money back from their tax returns. She charged me $500 and never filed a tax return to the IRS. After numerous phone calls and drop ins at her office and 7 months of waiting, I called IRS myself and was told that a tax return was never filed under my name or SSN. I finally went to her office and confronted her for scamming me. I called IRS while inside her office. I put the IRS agent ON SPEAKER and in front of the customers who were inside her office at that time so she couldn't deny it. She finally refunded me $400 and kept the $100 saying that it's for document fees. At this point I didn't even care any more I just wanted my money back! This year was my first time getting my taxes done by Nihen and she was great! My wife and I drove all the way from Daly City just to see her. She tries her hardest to accommodate all of her customers and there are a lot of negative reviews here but I never had any of those experiences so I can't comment or say anything bad about Nihen. She is by herself sometimes during tax season and she gets busy. I did observe her hard work ethic (skipped going to the restroom and eating lunch just to finish her customers taxes) and kind personality. You got to respect that. I file as single with no property or investment so it is just imputing 3 forms into their turbo tax software. 3. I recently got an audit letter from the IRS and I can't get a hold of my tax preparer. This place is a scam! The owner/tax accountant, Nhien Le is unreliable. She charged me $500 for a tax amendment, promising me that I would get a $4000 refund. It's has been a year & I never saw the refund. Every time I stopped by her office, she has a "will return" sign up, but never does. When I first filed, she said it would take between 6-8 months to see the refund. After 8 months, I called her up and inquired about the status, she told me that the IRS needed a copy of my original return & asked me to drop it off at her office. After a month went by, I called her again for the status. Every time I called, her voice mail is full so I can't leave any messages. When she does answer the phone, she either says she's busy with training, on vacation, or I have to call her back at another time. Then I received a letter from the IRS saying that I owe them $2000! This lady literally took one whole year to file my tax return. She literally went to Vietnam, came back, and still did not finish my taxes. It wasn't difficult, it was a trust fund account/investment and because it took her too much time to go through the paperwork, she left it aside. I literally could not contact her for two whole months. I found out after calling her over 100 times, when she came back from Vietnam that she didn't know how to file my account.
