CAUTION: if you for some reason you go here, DO NOT stay at this place if you're number 4 on the waitlist! We waited for 8 hours just for her to serve 3 people!! She's so slow and when it was our turn she did not give us a good deal. What's worse is that she'll never answer the phone and you have to guess what time the place opens. You'll actually waste your time here because our return was so low and she charged literal thousands on our taxes. Legit a scam, and any other tax service should suffice. The building is very unclean and lowkey the area seems kinda sketchy. The bathroom is cluttered with random stuff and bugs are everywhere. Will see some sketchy people hanging around the building, so if you care about your safety avoid at all costs! read more

If 0 star was possible, I would give it that. This place has done some illegal things on people's taxes. The lady that did my friends taxes input incorrect things on her form and now she owes taxes. Multiple people have stated the same thing. The lady will get you a bigger refund to eat your business and charge you overpriced, but in the end you'll owe the IRS. YELP PLEASE CLOSE THIS BUSINESS DOWN ON YOUR APP! read more

Value Travel - never in office when you need your taxes and never replies back you if you confront her about her fishy business. - Travel Services Near Me - San Jose, California

I cannot emphasize this enough...DO NOT DO YOUR TAXES HERE! They completely over charge for the services and don't even do a good job. The woman completely messed up on our taxes and we had to pay the price. After countless times of trying to call her, she never once admitted to her faults. Do not go to this place for any services because you're better off going elsewhere. I wish I could give this place 0 stars because of how much trouble she's caused for my family. Please listen to the reviews that warn you not to go to this place because they are most likely true. read more

My cousin recommended Nhien to do my taxes for this past year when I quit my full-time job to start my own business... so I had absolutely no idea what to do. The wait to be seen is forever (worse than the hospital) even if you come on a weekday. I had to wait at least three hours in the middle of a Thursday. Fortunately you just put your name and phone number on a waiting list, so if you fancy going shopping or grabbing coffee while you wait, it's pretty convenient. The actual process was confusing, because Nhien's assistant kept throwing questions at me about my finances, and if I didn't know how to answer them, she would answer them for me. Seemed sketchy at first. When it came down to it, Nhien was very helpful in offering bookkeeping advice in the future years of my business. She was quick (the actual process of doing my taxes took less than 30 minutes) and very professional. She told me that she receives the majority of her business from referrals, which is pretty awesome. I was charged $300, and while that felt like a LOT, I would rather pay that much knowing that my taxes are done right... which I'm assuming they are if she is a legitimate business. Anyways, whew!! read more

AVOID THIS PLACE !! She did not register with IRS for doing tax NO TAX ID. The number she wrote on your tax is by her handwriting.....FAKE Check IRS website to find out about this lady.....,or you can go to 55 Market Street in Downtown San Jose, there is a IRS Investing Unit . Zero Star read more

I was going to give up on Chi Nhien due to her lack of responses to your inquiries. However, she will work on your tax correction and contact you unexpectedly. It took her a while to complete the EIC schedule and submitted to IRS for my case. She also made the inquiry to IRS on my behalf. It can be very frustrating to wait for answers from Chi Chien, but I always try to give her time and patience because she has so many clients to work on. I'm very thankful for the tax services that she has been providing. read more

This place is a horrible place that scams you for your money! I came here to seek help in filling out documents because I wanted to sue a company that scammed me for my money. I came here and paid her thinking she would do what she said she would. She called me once and I called her once. After I paid her I didn't hear from her anymore. She said she was going to fill out all the documents necessary and send it to both the court and BBB. After months of not hearing or receiving anything I gave BBB a call and they told me she had filed some paper but she didn't file it to the right place. BBB told me she was suppose to file these papers to small court claims. I tried calling her multiple times and she didn't respond. By then I had taken matters into my own hands. I did everything myself and I ended up taking her to court too for scamming me for my money. Once I took her to court she tried to threaten me saying that if I don't dismiss the case, she will give all the documents to the company I was trying to sue for scamming me. I told her to go ahead and do it since I wasn't afraid. She talked to the owner of the company and they company didn't side with her. In the end she ended up lose the case. IF YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED HERE BEFORE I RECOMMEND YOU TAKE HER TO COURT AND STOP WHAT SHE IS DOING BECAUSE IT ISN'T RIGHT! read more

Wow. Just wow. -100 stars if I can. Today was the last straw. Been going to this lady for several years and never in my life did I think she would do me dirty. I just came back home from waiting in the freezing cold for 15 mins just to get my tax folder back. Long story short, she filed my taxes and I trusted her. Turns out, she filed it however she wanted. I specifically told her not to file my joint taxes if it affects the other party. Well, guess what? She said "don't worry, it won't affect the other party, trust me." And of course, after years of going to her, I trusted her even though I kept repeating to not affect the other party. After giving her a few (unexpected) hundred of dollars - I thought yay, don't have to worry about my taxes for this year anymore. WRONG. I received noticed from the other party that their tax person saw something fishy in the report. I questioned Nhien and said "did you file my taxes wrong? It has affected the other party." She screamed through the phone and said she did nothing wrong! Then tell me to come by to remove some information. I did what I was told, I came by Friday thinking I can talk to her but she told me to drop off my folder and that she can't drop what she's doing to help me. She said come back night time. I gave her the weekend to work on my taxes. I came back noon time (lunch time from work) on Monday and she told me everything is done but she can't help me cause she's too busy so come back night time. I came back after work, She screamed at me "I'm too busy right now to help you! Come back a later time!" I asked her what time would be best cause she never gave me a time. She said "I don't know! I'll call you." With my sister experiencing the same thing with Nhien (took Nhien a year to amend my sister tax cause my sister kept bugging her), my sister told me don't let her manipulate and bully you! She said Nhien will never call you. You have to come real late at night when there's no customers. So I came back at 9pm that day. Still the same customers waiting from 5pm so I said I'll come tomorrow in hopes it'll be less busy. Well, I came back 9pm on Tuesday and yes, it was less busy but there's still a few customer so I didn't bother to come in to ask her about my taxes. I told myself, Wednesday will be even less busy! If not, then I'll come back next week. So today is Wednesday. Yay! As I approached her store, there was just a couple doing their taxes and a worker with her. SCORE!! But nope, as I reached to open the door, it was locked. They all looked at me and asked Nhien if they should open and I'm sure she said no. So the whole time they avoided eye contact. Being the person I am, I doubted that she would let me stand in the freezing cold. 5 mins past, I was in disbelief. I called her. She didn't pick up. Okay, I will knock on the door. The people looked and looked away. Outraged. I looked up to see a mail window, poked through it and screamed "can I get my folder back please!" Ignored. Pissed at this point - 10 mins have passed. Called someone for advice but could not calm my anger and I was screaming in front of her store like a crazy person. At this point it was 9pm even more cold then when I first got there. My nose sniffling. My body clenching itself to keep warm. My other hand in my pocket to keep warm. After 5 mins of screaming in front of her store, she told her clients to hand me my folder through the mail window crack! Probably scared I was calling the police on her like her other previous clients. Thanks for letting me wait in the cold for 15 mins just to get my folder back. Totally unnecessary. Could have told me to find another tax person to amend my taxes instead of going through all this!! I received my tax folder exactly the same as when I handed her to fix. She did jack. All she does is LIE!!! This place was filled with homeless and men from the cafe. I was a single woman standing in front of a store. Oh, that's not dangerous at all. The reviews were right. She does not give a flying f about you. read more

**must read!!** stay away!! let me start off by, she, aka co nhien deserves 0 stars! my family and friends been going to her since 2011, and you would think she would put that in consideration, right? nope!!!!! all this b**** cares about is money and new customers. ill start off by the years- 2011-2014: charged me 150 for my taxes. got my tax refund in a mannerly time. still had to wait a full day each time just to get everything completed and sometimes i'd have to come back because it took so long. 2015: charged me 200 and messed up on my social security number, had to call irs to fix it since she did not answer my calls for about a week. i still came back cause she got me a good amount back. 2016: charged me 250 and paid an expedited fee and got my taxes after my sister and she did not pay that extra fee and filed a week after me. had to continuously go back to her and ask her where my refund is. 2017: charged me 350 and put the incorrect email for irs to contact me and then had the nerve to tell me i gave her the wrong email. i had to continuously go back to her for a week for her to just tell me she put the incorrect email and thats why it took so long for me to get my taxes. this was my last straw. on top of everything, she does not give a f*** about you and your money. she will only take your money and after you pay she will no longer help you! that includes if she messes up your taxes and the irs comes after you, because you signed those documents you are at fault! i'm asian so i always respect older adults, and that is why i gave her the benefit of the doubt but this lady is a fake and karma is going to get her good! read more

I personally have been going here for my taxes for 2 years and I really like Nhien's genuine demeanor even as someone who is very business orientated. Though she doesn't take bs from anyone.. Which is a good attitude for the location (no offense- I grew up around here). She remembers me already and shares great advice/stories. It's interesting to see. She sometimes has students that she helps train to do this kind of work to prepare them for licensure tests. This place does not look like an fancy office- don't expect that going in or you willl be thrown off. She is good for complicated taxes ( in example : someone who has multiple w2s and attends school) and she's quick. She's been doing this for manyyy years and has a huge clientele base that she doesn't need more or need to advertise.. I think that says something. read more

DO NOT FILE YOUR TAXES HERE! Read and listen to all the bad reviews. The owner uses turbo tax to file your tax return, falsifies your information to get maximum return and states that you are the preparer of the tax. NONE of her information is entered and she does not list her self as the payed preparer. So when you do get audit you will be held accountable not her and to top it off you jus paid her 700. I am never doing tax with this lady no more. I found out that she over charge you when she isn't suppose to. I recently did my tax here this year and she told me that if I pay 50 dollar first I will be able to get my money within 10 days. Guess what? i waited almost 2 month and my money still haven't came in. Everytime I call her she told me it will come within that week, but it never did. I'm more mad because she know i been calling a lot so she decided to not pick up at all or give me a call back. What kind of employee does that to the customer. PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE. Negative star .SCAM SCAM SCAM! Beware of IRS audit! This woman is charging you $300-$700 for filing your tax (actually just entering your information into TurboTax in which you can do it on your own for just $30-50). She is falsifying data like creating fake unimbursed expenses and educational expenses in order to claim the highest amount of tax deductions and credit. In this way, your tax refund is falsely increased and she can get a share from it. I think people are attracted by her claims that she can "maximize" the tax refunds you can get if you find her to file your tax return. But BE WARNED, I have heard a lot of cases receiving IRS audits or notices that required you to prove the tax credits or deductions claimed or even simply tell you are owing the IRS a certain amount ranging from $1500-$2000. And when you try to find reach this woman for help or ask her for a refund on her services, you will never see her as this location is always closed except during tax seasons and she never answered phone calls! DON'T FILE TAX AT THIS LOCATION. DON'T COME BACK CRYING AND SAY THAT I DIDN'T WARN YOU WHEN YOU RECEIVE AN IRS AUDIT! read more

In 2011 a co worker brought me to this tax place, slash travel, slash book keeping, slash everything. She tells me to pay her $250 to get my taxes done. I pay $250 cash and my taxes get done. No problem. I have some back taxes from 2008, 2009, 2010. She says she has to charge me $250 for each year. I pay her the $750 and she said she will take care of it. On the same day I asked her to cancel a corporation I had started. She said that will cost me $500 and she will take care of it. I give her a total of $1250 in cash that day and she never gives me a receipt when I asked for one. She says, dont worry about it, I know you, between me and you, you dont need one. So assuming it should be fine, no worries since I got my first tax refund back, no problem. time to file my 2012 taxes. She does my taxes and my wife's taxes. I pay her $250 for myself and $150 for my wife, a total of $400 dollars. We swipe my credit card and mysteriously her machine is broken so she goes, just come back tomorrow and pay me cash. I was like okay, no problem. Next day I come back, her office is filled with people. I come in, I pay her with my cash and waited for a receipt and she kept putting it off by saying that she is super busy and kept reassuring me that we should be fine without a receipt because she knows us. Again, I agreed. We filed in feb 2013 and we waited until about may 2013. We sit her wondering where the heck is our tax return! I check the IRS website and it says no records found. Im hoping we somehow entered the information wrong. So we give Ms. Nhien Le a call. To my surprise she says we have a balance??? I was like we paid you, How much do we owe you? She says $400!!!! I wanted to rip out my hair, waiting 3 months and getting this type of response? On top of that, the taxes from 2008-2010 barred me from getting my taxes in 2012! So I paid her for those years and nothing was ever done! The corporation that I paid her $500 for was never even cancelled because til this day I still receive statements from the Franchise Tax Board asking for my tax returns!!! SHE IS A THIEF! When you provide a service and you dont deliver, that is considered stealing in my book and the total amount that she stole from me is, $2050 for everything. NEVER AGAIN. I know I am not the only one she stole from. When the cops came they even said that this isnt the first time theyve been here. Even the neighboring businesses came by and asked my wife, why was she crying. They said that there is people that come here everyday and complain! AN INVESTIGATION needs to happen fast before more people get ripped off. She preys on the old vietnamese people that cant speak no english and knows nothing about how to defend themselves because of the language barrier. ALWAYS GET A RECEIPT FROM HER. SHE WILL TAKE YOU DOUBLE IF YOU DONT. BEWARE read more

AVOID this place at all cost. I wish I checked out Yelp before going to see her (Nhien) years ago. Like many others, I was referred by a friend who claimed she used to work for the IRS so knows many tricks to maximize your refund, therefore it's worth the 2-3hr wait and knowing she overcharges. It was fine the first couple years, until one year we had a gain on selling our property. Using that at her full advantage, she charged us $1,600! By that time, we had no choice by to complete the file. Well, that is NOT the worst part. When the IRS reached out to us for some audit questions, this lady avoided your calls and bluntly claimed it is not her responsibility. I should've known better. Please trust all the bad reviews and save yourself from the headaches. This greedy lady has major Karma under her sleeves. Not sure how she sleeps at night knowing she screwed so many people over. read more

I agree with every one's comments about this place. The owner Nhien Le is horrible and tricks people into believing that they will get more money back from their tax returns. She charged me $500 and never filed a tax return to the IRS. After numerous phone calls and drop ins at her office and 7 months of waiting, I called IRS myself and was told that a tax return was never filed under my name or SSN. I finally went to her office and confronted her for scamming me. I called IRS while inside her office. I put the IRS agent ON SPEAKER and in front of the customers who were inside her office at that time so she couldn't deny it. She finally refunded me $400 and kept the $100 saying that it's for document fees. At this point I didn't even care any more I just wanted my money back! If any of you are going through the same experience I went through, I encourage you to call IRS at (800) 829-3009 inside her office to confront her! Save all your receipts for every single penny that you've paid her and don't let her scam your hard earned money!!! read more

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU GO TO VALUE SERVICE CENTER TO DO YOUR TAX My friends please help me share this post so that no one will have to be scammed or waisted so much money on claiming tax. Nhien is the owner of this place. She charges me a total of $950 bucks to do my tax this year. $ 350 for just filing my tax, $300 for my wife Tax ID, $300 for my side business which I am not really active or make much. She told me that I should received my wife's passport and tax ID back within 4-6 weeks. I filed my tax on January-26th-2016. I waited for 6 weeks and nothing came home. I called her and it always goes to the voice mail, which you can't even leave a message. I kept on calling and I got a hold of her, she then told me she has call them regarding my case and it will be home in 2 weeks. I am a little bit frustrated but yet I trust her again. I waited for 2 weeks, nothing came home so I call her again. She was the most rudest person ever ! She told me why don't I take my business else where and raised her voice at me. I told her not to talk to her customer like that. She then text me later and stating that She have called again and it will be home in 5 business days. It has been another 2 weeks. She also included the 1-800 number so that I can call to check on the status of the tax ID but it was a Non working number ! I continued to call her business phone # and no one there to answered. I noticed that before she received the money she would answer and afterwards she will not answer. I text her on her cell phone that you should response to your clients but she never replies. I came to her " VALUE TAX SERVICE CENTER which VALUE TRAVEL on yelp " today and she is not there but the sign says business hours are 10 am -6 pm. It has been over 3 months since I paid her and nothing came home, no Tax Id, how can I file my tax now?? I hope my friends won't have to ho through what I went through. Someone taking your money and not doing their job ! She will find ways to charge you crazy amounts when you claim your tax ! I had the same experience with the other 1 star Yelp reviewer at this place. 1. The staff here are rude and what is the point of making an appointment if you still have to wait like 3 hours to see them. 2. Cost- this place charge a ridiculously high price. I was charged 300 dollars for a simple tax return with Two W2s and an unemployment income form. I file as single with no property or investment so it is just imputing 3 forms into their turbo tax software. 3. I recently got an audit letter from the IRS and I can't get a hold of my tax preparer. Their office is always close during business hours. To the tax preparer credit, she did gave me a higher return than if I was to do it myself. However, you better be prepared when Uncle Sam come knocking. I learned it the hard way. read more

This year was my first time getting my taxes done by Nihen and she was great! My wife and I drove all the way from Daly City just to see her. She tries her hardest to accommodate all of her customers and there are a lot of negative reviews here but I never had any of those experiences so I can't comment or say anything bad about Nihen. She is by herself sometimes during tax season and she gets busy. I did observe her hard work ethic (skipped going to the restroom and eating lunch just to finish her customers taxes) and kind personality. You got to respect that. I'm definitely coming back to see Nihen for next years taxes! read more

0 stars!! HORRIBLE!! I've been waiting over 2 months!! Some of my friends and co-workers almost 3!! All the people that mailed their own returns got theirs back no problem. I asked to mail it myself and she said she'll take care it. Well she sure did. IRS still hasn't received anything. This place is a scam! The owner/tax accountant, Nhien Le is unreliable. She charged me $500 for a tax amendment, promising me that I would get a $4000 refund. It's has been a year & I never saw the refund. Every time I stopped by her office, she has a "will return" sign up, but never does. When I first filed, she said it would take between 6-8 months to see the refund. After 8 months, I called her up and inquired about the status, she told me that the IRS needed a copy of my original return & asked me to drop it off at her office. After a month went by, I called her again for the status. Every time I called, her voice mail is full so I can't leave any messages. When she does answer the phone, she either says she's busy with training, on vacation, or I have to call her back at another time. Then I received a letter from the IRS saying that I owe them $2000! I have to take care of this situation myself from now on...will never come back again! read more

This lady literally took one whole year to file my tax return. She literally went to Vietnam, came back, and still did not finish my taxes. It wasn't difficult, it was a trust fund account/investment and because it took her too much time to go through the paperwork, she left it aside. I literally could not contact her for two whole months. I found out after calling her over 100 times, when she came back from Vietnam that she didn't know how to file my account. I guess all those certifcations she hunged up are fake. I asked her to give me my papers back and thats when she kept saying she will do it. Did not do it til 2 months after I've been waiting for a months already. Mind you I did not even pay yet so I would think she would do it for the money, but she didn't! She charged me 1000 and I only came here because my girl said she gets back a lot.. but it's not worth all that stress and time. DO NOT GO HERE! read more
