They took her hearing aid to look it over and found that the wire was damaged. Luckily it was still under warranty so there was no charge to fix it. Since we were there, they went ahead and gave my mother a hearing test. Everything was good and we were told that she doesn't have to go back for another 2 years or unless she's having trouble again. When we walked up, they opened the door for us so we didn't have to touch the door and also opened the door to let us out. Their chairs are spaced out in their lobby and they have a cup full of sanitized pens on the counter that you can use to fill out their forms. There are also tissues and hand sanitizer on their counter. They've thought of everything to keep you safe!

After visiting & speaking with Layne, my hearing aid specialist, about my problem, he called Dr. Heist, shared the history & instructed me to see an ENT specialist immediately! Not in a month, not in a week, ASAP. He impressed upon me that hearing can sometimes be restored within 48-72 hours with prompt aggressive treatment with Prednisone. Only due to his diligence to inform me & emphasis of a narrow time window for treatment, did I seek a medical doctor. Assuming his assessment was accurate, he explained how a prescription for Prednisone was required immediately. I saw a doctor & learned Layne was correct in his diagnosis. I was SO EXTREMELY grateful to him for his knowledge and care for my situation. The doctor asked me to be assessed by his audiologist. The results duplicated Layne's. Additionally, he wanted me to have follow-up care. Because of the knowledge, relationship, comfort and care I received from Layne, I told the doctor I would return to him for the follow-up audiology care. I have the utmost confidence in all of the members of the Hearing Center of Broward. They are a very close knit family like office, whom treats everyone with undivided attention and care. They are the BEST! I give them the HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION I can offer for the professionalism and knowledge in their field. Thank you for the EXCELLENT CARE you have provided to me, not only in this dire situation, but also for the four years I have been visiting your for my hearing aid care. Sincerely with Thanks! Tracy

A bit puzzled I stated there was no sense in wasting time going through the hearing testing process again if she didn't know what hearing aid manufacturers she dealt with. She then said "depends on your hearing loss". I told her exactly what my hearing loss was. (Had a copy of my hearing test that was only 53 days old) Again I asked which hearing aid companies she worked with because I had no interest in Starkey (displayed in their lobby), Beltone, or Widex. (after wearing hearing aids for 48 years I think I know enough to recognize the manufacturers whose sound processors I do not like). Her response was "I can't tell you". I asked do you work with Oticon, she just shrugged. It was very apparent that she was either incompetent or trying to hide information so I turned around and left. Really strange and rude behavior from someone being asked simple questions. This was the 2900 Cypress Creek location. Would not recommend.
