This Travelex is a shoebox of a store located along Queen St, at the base of the Myer Centre. I…read moredrop by here every time I need a cash passport for when I'm travelling overseas, and the process is quick and painless. The store itself is incredibly small though; if there are more than two customers in there it can become extremely cramped. I learnt this the hard way when a man came in during his lunch break, was extremely gassy, and had to vacate the premises to relieve himself lest we all--the two staff members behind the counter and the other customer and I--be gassed to death. If you're looking to get a more obscure currency exchanged, make sure you go at least a week beforehand because chances are you may need to order it in. I ordered some Japanese yen and had to wait about a week. There's also an ATM located outside the store that takes most cards, including international cash cards.

I found these guys really helpful at getting me set up with my 'cash passport' -- a special card and account which allows you to withdraw cash around the world. Since then I've also used these guys to get currency for an overseas trip to New Zealand. The good thing about this company is that they let you order your currency online through BPAY for pick-up at the airport, and you don't have to pay the commission fee.

I year ago I made the decision to ditch a big bank- which bank you ask? Yep, that's the one. The…read moreQPCU offers all the services that a big bank does, including a network of ATMs with its partners that is the equal of any in the country. The real point of difference offered by the QPCU is customer contact. So refreshing to talk to someone actually in the same city (for Brisbane callers) as you. Staff manning the phones or on the counter are always very friendly and helpful. Credit Unions, unlike banks, are run for the benefit of members not shareholders and it shows through time and again. It's a cathartic experience to break free of a big bank so if you're thinking about taking the plunge, as Nike say, just do it! You won't look back.

This review is based purely off going to an event here. A friend of mine just recently celebrated…read moreher 21st birthday and had booked this location as the party spot. Admittedly, I was very confused when the invitation said it was at the Queensland police credit union, and still confused when it was explained to me that it was on the roof of it. Anyway, the location is in a great spot completely overlooking the river/Southbank and the city. One downside was that guests aren't able to enter the lobby or use the elevator unless someone comes down to the ground floor with a key and escorts you upstairs. The rooftop itself was nice, spacious, and like I said has great views. There is only one female bathroom and one male bathroom. One mirror...ONE mirror...take a moment to picture girls attending a 21st birthday having to share this one mirror with everyone else including males. The bathrooms were very very dingy/dirty to say the least, and the girls bathroom door doesn't lock properly. The function seemed pretty lenient, the rooftop was fully decked out with 21st birthday banners and music. You can bring your own alcohol as long as it is not in glasses. Cool spot I suppose, if you get an invite to a private function here definitely check it out if only for the view.
