We had used Heritage Carpet in the past before there seemed to be a change in ownership or…read moreintegrity with the company or both. Confident about using them again, we had carpet installed in our main floor owner's suite which is visible from the main foyer. The first Mohawk carpet installed had a significant odor that didn't subside even after we were told to wait for a week or more. When it didn't subside, a representative came back again and agreed the odor was still there. I was told a claim was submitted and approved through Mohawk. The first installation was beautifully installed! Not seams were visible because they placed the seam on the west side of the room, which did not receive natural light through a window and the furniture was placed over where they chose to place the seam. It was unfortunate the carpet was defective because the room looked absolutely beautiful! A second carpet was then chosen. When the second carpet was ordered my husband recognized the wrong padding was installed the first time, so the padding he expected was then added to the second install order. The installation the second time was the worst installation of carpet we have EVER had! The seam was now placed on the south side of the room with the natural light hitting the carpet from the window in the owner's bath. The room went from a beautiful installation the first time to a dreadful unsightly line visually cutting the room. I contacted two other carpet companies to look at the seam, and both agreed the seam should never have been placed in that location. Heritage Carpet insisted it was a "good install." In addition to the poor unsightly installation, they installed a defective padding that had high and low levels when you walked on the carpet. Two people came out to look at the carpet, Dennis, apparently the owner, who rudely insisted there was nothing wrong with the padding, and the other person who came with him was the person who determined the first carpet install had a problem. HE agreed there was a problem under the carpet. After doing something to the floor or padding close to the bathroom entrance, the padding problem still existed. I was told to hire an inspector and if it was determined there was in fact a problem, I would be reimbursed for the cost. I hired a highly reputable inspector who agreed with the two carpet companies and the one representative from Heritage Carpet who came with Dennis that there was a problem with the padding. The inspector measured and took photos confirming the defective padding installed had high and low areas. I was then given an option to have new padding installed or receive a $1000 refund. I thought long and hard and decided to accept the refund because I will be replacing the unsightly carpet installation in the future, and with it the defective padding. I also should mention one of the carpet installers stole the furniture Slider I used under a large ceramic seat in my foyer, and the third time they moved my furniture, they broke a piece of my armoire cabinet. They did end up finally admitting and replacing the stolen item, but replaced it with an inferior quality furniture "slider" not the high quality name brand Slider we owned. Fortunately, my husband was able to repair the cabinet. Things happen, and in the past under prior ownership, perhaps, we had good service, so we decided we would use them again with a room that required no seam and we would move our own furniture out of the room and back in. When I came back into the store and then the day of the measurement, we were told because of the challenges we had with them with the last installation, they would NOT guarantee this installation. So, it appears that as long as you are willing to accept inferior work, defective products, theft, and allow the owner Dennis to disrespect you and deny any problems exist until professionals confirm the problems do in fact exist, only then will they warrant future work. It was painfully clear if you have any challenges to their workmanship or products, all the fault falls on the consumer. I would like to add that I did not submit a review of Heritage Carpet with the poor installation experience because we had a different experience in years past, but the company is a very different company today, and I chose to reluctantly accept a refund instead of the risk of having my furniture moved again. Heritage Carpet used to be a company one could trust. Things have certainly changed! Consumer beware!

I have purchased a lot from this company. The last two times I've had to deal with Duke and I must say he sure doesn't act like he gives a darn. This time he was really rude. When I went to look at the carpet he starts pulling big sample boards down with one hand because he had something in his other hand and couldn't be bothered or interested enough to put it down. He didn't even try to help with which carpet would be the best for my needs. I should have walked out. But, dummy me went ahead and picked one. I told him that a couple of the rooms of carpet I bought from him 6 years ago had matted terribly so I hoped he would take that into consideration for pricing since I would be replacing one of those rooms plus the living room and dining room that they put down before. When he came to measure he looked at the matted carpet and said NOTHING. He could care less. When my carpet came in and the guys showed up to put it down, they asked if I was told this job would take 1.5 days and I said no, but that's OK. But they never left til after 6pm. They were tired having been here since early morning. I asked why they stayed and finished and I was told well, they have to be somewhere else the next day. So, the next day I'm looking over everything and sweeping and discover that the metal strip that goes across the bathroom doorway to cover where the carpet meets the vinyl tile wasn't put back, it was laying under the vanity. Understandable that it got missed, it was a long day. But I also noticed that the edge of 2 of the tiles had been chipped. I just paid a large sum of money to have that whole bathroom remodeled in the last year. I wasn't going to raise a big ruckus about it because the strip would cover it and probably be ok. I was probably being nicer about it than I should have been. But, the strip needs to be put back to protect the edge of those tiles. I sure don't want them chipping worse. I went to see Duke that day. I told him what I needed & he just stands there with a look like "Why are you bothering me." He said he'd get ahold of them to come and take care of it. Well, 8 days later I had to go back to the store since you can't get anybody to answer the phone. This time Mike was there. What a difference! Nice, welcoming smile and asks what he can help me with. I tell him what's going on and he said he'd get Duke. Mike comes back around the corner and says Duke will send them over to take care of it. Duke had been within ear shot of my conversation with Mike. He didn't have the courtesy to even come out and speak to me. No apology, nothing. Well, that was Wednesday morning and this is Friday evening. Haven't seen or heard from anybody. So, what do you think? My years of loyalty and spending my money with K Carpet are over. I guess I'll be going somewhere else to get the other 2 bedrooms, kitchen & master bath done.
