#ServiceStarShoutOut! Overall I enjoyed the process of designing my custom ring though I have some constructive feedback here. The outcome was really nice! This is my first time involved in this process. There are pros and cons to designing from a wholesaler vs. buying from a retailer. Though I think it's still worth it to go custom for a unique piece that is of quality. I say it's more of 3.5-star experience with some areas for improvement, but because of such low ratings that I don't think they deserve (as the other reviewer hasn't gone through the whole process), I'm going to balance it to a 4.
Pros
- Platinum pricing for a ring is very competitive, $200 more which makes it much more worthwhile to get platinum as it's more sturdier and allows for more delicate designs
- Collaborative process in design
- Pricing is competitive to Brilliant Earth and James Allen but can modify and create something truly unique to you. The platinum option is a good value, only $200 more. The ring turned out beautiful, but I wish the setting were lower than I wanted and the band more comfortable. I love the hybrid claw and round prongs, which they showed me. It is modern yet subtle.
Areas for improvement
- Communication on the limitation on the design before the deposit. At first, when I gave the deposit, they agreed to a 'secret halo' (similar to Brilliant Earth setting), an invisible gallery, and the diamond halo sits into the band with prongs in a compass orientation. This design will allow my diamond to sit lower on the band, which I much prefer. There is pushback later on in the process of not being possible with the compass prongs. So I had to compromise with a higher setting and the halo sitting above the band. I had my choice of the halo in the middle of the diamond to keep the diamond lower, but I still wish they had better communication about it without me having to press on further. I appreciate their professional advice in making sure the ring stands the test of time and is sturdy, which these mass-produced rings don't ensure.
- They are primarily a wholesaler, so they don't focus too much on B2C marketing efforts. However, I do suggest that they have better reels/photos on their Instagram. It's a bit blurry the designs they showcase on IG.
- It would be nice if they have different types of band thickness and styles in-store to review and let us know of the options in the consultation. I wanted a thin band, but now, after using the ring, I feel a slightly thicker and round band would have been better, so the ring doesn't spin as much and maybe more comfortable. It's my fault for wanting it thinner, but I think it would be helpful if they have some examples of different popular settings in the stores to review in person and types of bands to consider like round/flat in our consultation. A lot relies on pictures.
Just be aware that if you want something between 1-1.5 carat hearts and arrows ideal cut, they have a limited supply in sourcing, so they need you to respond within the day to secure it once they can source the diamond. read more
