After being a Valor Christian Academy family for three years, and after my wife served on staff for two years as assistant to the Head of School, we can no longer recommend Valor Christian Academy to other families.
Between tuition, volunteer involvement, professional consulting support, and significant personal investment into the school community, we genuinely wanted to see Valor thrive. What we experienced behind the scenes was deeply disappointing.
Our concerns are not primarily about academics, curriculum, or normal organizational growing pains. Our concerns are about leadership culture, integrity, professionalism, and the way people are treated behind closed doors.
There was a consistent pattern of gossip, negativity, blame shifting, and speaking poorly about teachers, parents, former staff, and even board members. What was especially troubling was that much of this behavior came directly from the Head of School, Elizabeth LeBlanc, and Assistant Principal Judy Vega. We repeatedly watched people praised publicly and then criticized privately the moment they walked out of the room.
Teachers appeared unsupported, overworked, and often set up to fail. Staff members were placed into roles without proper training or resources and then blamed when things struggled. Leadership frequently seemed more concerned with appearances and controlling narratives than genuinely supporting staff and families.
As parents, we also experienced serious concerns around communication, confidentiality, safety procedures, and student support. Several situations involving student release and custody protocols were handled in ways that we felt were careless and unsafe.
The hardest part is that we genuinely loved what Valor was supposed to represent. We wanted to believe in the mission. We invested heavily into the school because we cared deeply about Christian education and the community around it.
Unfortunately, what we experienced internally did not reflect the Christ-centered culture, humility, accountability, or integrity that the school publicly promotes.
We know no school is perfect. Leadership is hard. But what we experienced went far beyond normal organizational challenges.
It is also worth noting that Valor Christian Academy has disabled Google reviews entirely, which appears to prevent families from publicly sharing honest experiences on the platform most parents typically check first. If you search deeper across other review platforms and forums, you will eventually find some very concerning reviews and experiences from former families and staff once you get past the flood of reviews coming from board-connected families, students, and internal supporters.
For families considering Valor, our encouragement would be this: ask difficult questions, talk privately with both current and former staff and families, and look beyond the marketing.
We sincerely hope meaningful change happens, because the students, families, and teachers deserve far better.
At this point, based on our firsthand experience as both a family and former staff household, we cannot recommend Valor Christian Academy to anyone considering it. read more
