When I got called back I was given a standard ultrasound but was told it was anatomy. This was my 3rd pregnancy and I knew it wasn't an anatomy scan (it lasted 10 minutes). I contacted my medi-cal insurance to see what kind of ultrasound had been performed. They said the paperwork was for an anatomy scan. The doctor's office falsely charged my insurance for a scan that didn't occur. How many other women and insurances were scammed by this doctor?

From the moment she walked into the room, she took the time to get to know me, not just my medical history. She asked about my family, my engagement, my previous pregnancy and delivery, and any complications I had experienced. I never felt rushed, and she really listened to everything I had to say. One thing that really stood out was how kind and encouraging she was. When I shared that my husband and I have been getting healthier in preparation for another pregnancy and that I had lost 15 pounds, she celebrated the accomplishment with me and even gave me a fist bump. It was such a small gesture, but it meant a lot and made me feel genuinely supported. I was nervous talking about my fears of having another child after my daughter's autism diagnosis, as well as my history of hyperemesis gravidarum. Dr. Bignami listened with empathy, answered my questions honestly, and discussed options for early monitoring and treatment if needed. She made me feel heard without minimizing any of my concerns. By the end of the appointment, I felt respected, reassured, and included in every decision, even when scheduling my IUD removal around my preferred timeline. Dr. Bignami is both compassionate and knowledgeable, and I would highly recommend her to anyone considering pregnancy or looking for women's healthcare.

For the past two weeks, I have been going back and forth with the front office staff just to get an appointment scheduled. What's ironic about all this is, I was transparent with the front office in letting them know my pregnancy was achieved through IVF. The office informed me they could not schedule me until I provided proof of a viable pregnancy through an ultrasound and information on my frozen embryo transfer. I had to wait a whole week to be seen by my out of state IVF fertility doctor to get this ultrasound done. When I finally have this information and I call them back so I can scan it. I am told they only accept fax or walk in to drop of paperwork so then can review it and contact me if they can proceed with scheduling. I am 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant. On my ultrasound it was found the pregnancy is viable and there is already heart beat. Yet, this office is unwilling to see me. This has been incredibly frustrating, especially during such an important and emotional time. As a patient with an IVF pregnancy, I expected better communication, clearer instructions, and more support from the front office. Instead, the process has felt confusing, stressful, and unnecessarily difficult. I hope the office improves its scheduling process and communication with patients, especially those going through high-stress pregnancies. What's more ironic in all this is if I hadn't informed them about my IVF treatment they would have added me on the schedule without even knowing and would have confirmed that I am in fact pregnant. This office obviously does not want my business. My only mistake here was trusting my pregnancy with this doctor and their staff.

My labor was very long, but with Dr. Sedaghat's help, everything went smoothly and safely. She also did an excellent job with my C-section and postoperative care. My recovery has been much easier than I expected--my incision healed beautifully, I experienced very little pain, and even my friends say they can hardly tell that I recently had a baby. The medical assistants and nursing staff at the office were also extremely friendly, caring, and supportive. They always made us feel welcome and took excellent care of us throughout the entire experience. I am truly grateful for everything Dr. Sedaghat and her team did for me throughout my pregnancy, delivery, and recovery. Once you stop judging the photo by first glance I gotta tell you that Dr. Humphrey is awesome. She has delivered 2 of my babies via C-section. She is part of the Healthcare Partners Medical Group. The office isn't fancy or super high tech. Dr. Humphrey is old school and when she talks to you, she speaks from the heart and really cares for your well being. She tries super hard to accommodate all of her patients. If she is a little late sometimes, it is because she is scrambling back and forth from the office to the Los Alamitos Medical Center (hospital) delivering babies or checking up on patients. She only deliveries at Los Alamitos Medical Center and trust me, you will LOVE that hospital when you plan on giving birth! (Read my Yelp review.) Dr. Humphrey has over 30 years of experience. She actually has kids as well. Seriously do not laugh at her when gives you her PAGER #, well you can because she will laugh with you. In addition to a pager, she has an iPhone. The experience was very unprofessional as the front desk doesn't know what insurance they accept. They blamed it on the billing department. The appointment was set for 3 weeks and they could've had the courtesy of ensuring everything was good or not because I wasted time waiting, when I could've found a better OBGYN practice that cares about the patients and getting them the care they need. BEWARE of the front desk staff and the billing practices here, they will hang you out to dry…read more I was not going to leave such a negative review but after repeat offenses, felt it was necessary to warn others. I first found this practice covered under my insurance (Humana) which typically has a co-pay of $10. For several visits, the office would tell me I did not have any co-pay due, but would then come back MONTHS later with a bill requesting "catch up payments" for the times they informed me there was no co-pay. After what felt like multiple attempts and prolonged wait times, I was able to finally get in touch with the billing office. I requested an official ledger listing all the office visits with missing payments. Almost by accident, I then learned that my actual payments did not match the actual appointment dates, making it very confusing to figure out what was paid and what wasn't. For example, a payment collected Feb 9th was actually for a missed payment on Jan 5th where they informed me there was no co-pay needed. The Feb 9th bill for that day then went into oblivion until suddenly revealing itself in a catch up bill months later in August. To make matters worse, I went in to see my regular provider however he was not available. Instead, the front desk "looked up my insurance" and assured me that their alternate provider was in-network. After visiting with her, I later discovered that she was NOT in fact in-network, leaving me with a large out-of-network bill. When I called the office to notify them of this, they again "looked it up" assured me she was in-network. I called the billing office to explain the situation and they did not care that the front office provided incorrect information resulting in an unfair charge, and declined to help me. From the patient's viewpoint, it feels unfair when the front desk staff consistently provides inaccurate information resulting in multiple bills and unfair charges. After the fact, they are neither helpful nor empathetic to the situation in which they largely created. I will not be returning, and am warning others to be cognizant of your insurance copays and to doublecheck your network, as the front desk will carelessly misinform you time and time again. The billing office also makes it clear that the only thing they care about is collecting the bill, and will not help you problem solve in any way. AckermanMed, do better.
