He is personable, genuine, and knowledgeable, and we usually have a good laugh about something or another during our appointments (usually due to either him or my husband cracking a joke). He was with us the whole time, from confirming the yolk sack to physically bringing my son into the world. We were warmly greeted and seen off by his wonderful front-office staff. Yvette, Steph, Joanna, and Kathryn were efficient, sweet, and always happy to share their own parenting stories. I'm sure they've talked about the same things thousands of times, but you wouldn't know it. In addition, Suzie, the ultrasound tech, is a wizard. She found our son even when he was trying to hide in my wife's pelvis. She pointed out his full head of hair, which looked like blobs to us, but she was right because he came out rocking a mighty coif. For most visits, we were first seen by Tabitha Indries, NP. Tabitha, like Dr. Mahller, is funny, reassuring, and never made us feel rushed--even when we peppered her with an endless barrage of questions. After a while, it was like we were just coming in to see a comforting friend who knew a ton about pregnancy. Between visits, the practice is connected to the Healow app so we could ask questions, check our next appointment, view labs, and review billing statements from our couch, which is where you usually hang out when pregnant. On the big day, Dr. Mahller performed my wife's scheduled C-section and everything went smoothly. We saw him every morning while we were in the hospital, shortly after discharge, and a couple months after for follow-up care. If you're looking for an OB-GYN to guide you through pregnancy, my wife and I whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Mahller. His office is in a great location: easy parking, blood work in nearby suite, super close to Hoag Newport so you can practice your route for when it's go time. I've had this drafted for way too long! It's really funny what being pregnant first time and second time feels like. First time around Dr. Mahller's humor was not my jam. I was super uptight and did not like his sense of humor. I was rigid in what I thought I wanted. Dr. Mahller would listen and give thoughtful answers, and never rushed the appointments. My husband was at every appointment and he thought Dr. Mahller was/is great! First pregnancy I was of the mindset of keeping it as natural as possible. We had hired a doula (couldn't use her due to Covid rules of only one support person) but honestly we didn't need her. I think if I had a lesser doctor who didn't listen to me maybe I would need an advocate like a doula, but I had Dr. Mahller and my extremely supportive husband and that was perfect. Actual delivery went great the first time (& the second time) I love giving birth. I had a couple of pregnancy complications and it was all handled like a breeze. I had to be induced both times due to the complications. I absolutely loved pregnancy and labor! Easiest part of having children! Halfway through my pregnancy, I decided to change my doctor, and finding someone new felt overwhelming. Dr. Mahller welcomed us without hesitation, making the transition seamless. His office is spotless, his staff is wonderful, and the location is perfect, just a short walk from Hoag Newport Beach. We always went to our appointments with a list of questions, and Dr. Mahller never rushed us. He always took the time to answer everything thoroughly, which made us feel incredibly supported and well-informed. We had planned for an induced vaginal delivery, and after I was admitted, it became a waiting game. Dr. Mahller checked on us earlier in the day and again before wrapping up his workday, reassuring us that he'd keep monitoring my progress remotely. Later that evening, around 9ish, a group of nurses entered the room, checked the monitors, and kept me calm. One of them handed my husband a phone and said, "Dr. Mahller wants to speak with you." Dr. Mahller is a PHENOMENAL surgeon. Like absolutely beyond. I ended up needing a C section and he did an outstanding job! A bunch of my friends were like oh whattttt a male OB and honestly it didn't even matter? He is so smart and knows how to address any concerns and is already thinking 10 steps ahead. I very seldom write reviews when it comes to my healthcare team since I take HIPAA very seriously. Having said that I think it is my responsibility to share my experience about Dr. Mahller and his wonderful team so that other ladies in my shoes can take advantage of his wonderful expertise. Having raised with a physician Father, uncles, Brother-in-law, cousins, second cousins, I have learned that not all physicians are the same when it comes to caring for their patients. In other words, medicine is not the same as when my father and family went to medical school. Unfortunately, medicine has become a business. Education has become a business. So it is natural that some physicians have turned to become a businessman/woman rather than being doctor. Having said that Dr. Mahller/Dr. Chang are among the most caring physicians I have come across. They are very knowledgeable and caring. Their staff is super helpful in taking care of claim issues. Their office has a very useful app that you can view your upcoming appts as well as your lab results. I highly recommend Dr. Mahller and Dr. Chang, this was my third C-section, my delivery went really smooth and I was so relieved because my previous C-section I developed a hematoma with a different OB. The Ladies at the front desk are always very helpful and sweet. This was a planned C-section for me, ALL my questions and concerns were answered and I felt that I was in really good hands. At first I was aiming for a natural birth , however after Dr. Mahller explained the risks, taking that into consideration I decided to have a planned C-section. it was worth it. At every visit I am welcomed with warm smiles. I had a unique situation with my pregnancy where I needed a lot of special care/ monitoring with my pregnancy. At every visit, Dr. Mahller and Dr. Chang took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns (this took tremendous patience on their part). I never felt rushed or like I didn't matter. They treated me like family and you will not find better care than from here. Catherine at the front desk is extremely helpful and organized. I had to have a c section and I have a debilitating fear of needles, blood, and surgery (so bad that I faint and have panic attacks). I conceived my baby through IVF in Asia. I was also advanced maternal age, in my 40s, so I was high risk. When I went back to US, I was on day 3 after transfer day. The IVF clinic in Asia does not have a partner in US, so I scrambled to find an OBGYN to transition my monitoring in US. I first went to see an OBGYN in Arcadia. I didn't find him knowledgeable about maternity especially those who conceived through IVF. His office and equipment were also outdated, to say the least. After 8 weeks with him, I've decided to change provider. This was when I went with Dr. Mahller, and it was the best decision ever!!! From the very first appointment, my husband and I knew we found our OB. His office is super clean, his equipment is very modern and high tech, and his staff are all wonderful. Tabitha, the NP, is very nice, attentive and caring. Dr. Mahller is the best at what he does. He truly and deeply cares about his patients. We trust his care 100%! He recommends all the tests that are necessary but non invasive. He didn't hesitate to refer me to MFM for certain procedures to ensure that we checked everything with a specialist. After that, he monitored me and my baby very closely. He delivered my baby, and we couldn't have been happier with his delivery!! We have a very healthy baby boy. I found Dr. Mahller on yelp and I never review anyone BUT I can't recommend anyone more! He's thorough, attentive, intelligent, makes decisions and gives advice based on research, and is genuinely funny! He is always calm, which I feel is important and doesn't over prescribe or scare you about any part of the process. He lets you make your own decisions and just educates and supports you through the process. He is very inclusive when it comes to your husband or partner. I never like going to the doctor because it always feels rushed and I've never made a trusting connection with a doctor but visiting Dr. Mahller feels like visiting a friend. I always trusted his advice 100%. A big benefit is he contacts you through the messaging app he uses to inform you of lab results or if you have questions in between appointments. I wish I could write about every interaction I have had with Dr. Mahller. He is genuinely the most amazing doctor I have ever come into contact with. He is so caring and ALWAYS there when you need him. He has been there with me for both of my pregnancies, guiding me through them, caring for us and making sure we are getting the best care. I just had my second daughter and he unfortunately wasn't able to deliver her, but he made sure that we were in good hands and checked on us the morning before and after delivery. He is an angel sent down to us and my husband and I are forever grateful. Most recently I have had a little bit of postpartum things going on and he has made sure that I am well taken care of and I have all the resources I need to tackle all the crazy hormones and emotions of postpartum. I found Dr. Mahller on Yelp (like everyone else it seems haha) and called his office the day I found out I was pregnant with my first, because I didn't realize my other OB/GYN stopped taking my insurance. I always felt like I wanted an established relationship with an OB rather than just showing up pregnant and hoping they are a good fit. Well I didn't have that luxury, but let me just say I'm a huge believer that everything happens for a reason and my husband and I were led to Dr. Mahller. A few awesome things about him - I never waited more than 10 minutes total to see him, I never left that office without laughing several times because of his sense of humor, I never went more than an hour with an unanswered question that I submitted on his online portal, and I've never felt like I could be in more capable hands. I had an incredibly easy pregnancy until I found out at week 37 that I had cholestasis of pregnancy, which is pretty rare but can be seriously dangerous to baby. Dr. Mahller took the utmost care during the last two weeks (he induced me at 39 weeks), getting consult from a high risk perinatologist, monitoring baby and me frequently, and keeping us updated on next steps. When it came time to deliver, things got a bit complicated in the last two hours and Dr. Mahller ended up performing a vacuum-assisted delivery. He is an absolute master in his craft. Vacuum deliveries are not easy on anyone, but he took the greatest care and performed flawlessly. Healthy mommy and healthy baby! I am so so grateful for Dr. Mahller and his knowledge and expertise.
