They work on Porsche, Audi, BMW and VW. Basically, anything German. They also sell parts too if you need something. Prices are reasonable and they use German Liqui-Moly fully synthetic motor oil for oil service. This is the good stuff. Make an appt and get your car back the same day usually unless you have something like a major rebuild. Credit cards accepted. They'll even give you a ride home locally after you drop off your car. I discovered Valley Wagon 2 years ago when my 1987 VW Van broke down outside of Reno and I've gone back to him anytime I need mechanic work. George has been a pleasure to work with from day one. Not only can you count on him to do top notch work and buff out any problems with your vehicle, he is as friendly and helpful as mechanics come. He's honest and takes the time to thoroughly explain any issues or work performed on my vehicle. He's very fair on prices and never jacks up what he originally quotes me. He even helped me find a local auto body shop to do work on my van. I live 3 hours away South of Carson and still bring my van up to have George because I know it's going into good hands. My wife and I have used George for a number of years, and until recently he did an adequate job. Last August I brought him my 2001 Jetta which sat for over a month before I got any communication from him. I finally paid $600 and was on my way. The very next day the car experienced the very same problem and I called George immediately and as usual I had to wait a week before he could take a look at it. As usual he said he'd call me. To make a long story short I was promised at least 6 times that he'd call me. He not once picked up the phone to inform me as to what was going on with my car. In the interim I went to the shop at least half a dozen times to talk to him and each time he had other ideas and things to try and each time he promised he'd call me right away which of course he never did. It is now March and I just spoke with him again and he told me he doesn't know what is wrong so I asked about my $600.00 and he refused to refund it. I asked for my car back and he told me it's behind some junk and the battery is dead, so apparently it's just been sitting there for months while he kept stringing me along. Worst place EVER!! Got my car checked for an estimate they said they would call me. They NEVER did. I called them about 3 times they said they would call back and they NEVER did. Finally went in person. I walked in and employees passed by me without greeting me till finally I said something. I was told "we're too busy to call people back" then why tell people you'll call them back. Asked her "why can't you greet your customers, most places greet people when they walk through the door" she responded with "we're not like all the other places". I then told her they have the worst customer service ever. A guy there got mad, stood up and got right in front of me screaming at me to get out, lifting his hand near my face as if he were ready to hit me. Lady had to tell him to calm down and back away. I was not at all pleased with the service or communication I received fom Valley Wagon. My VW Beetle sat at Valley Wagon for just short of 6 weeks, after being towed there. In all that time, I received just 1 call fom George, the owner, who delivered the news that my new car needed some serious repairs that would run thousands of dollars. This was 2 weeks after it arrived at his shop. He told me at that there were 2 ways of fixing it, a "bandaid" repair that would be cheaper, or a full engine rebuild. Being concerned for safety, I clearly told hom I was not interested in a bandaid fix. After that, not 1 communication from George that I did not initiate. When I called him just after the July 4th holiday weekend, I was promised he "was going to call ths afternon" once he got the quote together. I did not hear fom him. For the next several weeks, I either stopped by (twice) or called (3 times). The last time, George told me he had misplaced the estimate he had been working on, but he would work on it and call me either that night or the next day. He also said he would price it put both ways, the "bandaid" fix and the more expensive. I reiterated to him that i wanted it fixed right, not a bandaid. Another week went by, and I made alternate arrangements to have my bug towed elsewhere for repairs. The obvious conclusion I drew, after being ignored for 6 weeks, was that Valley Wagon didn't want my business or money. Considering the serious issues with communication, the 6 weeks I waited for an estimate (which I never got), the $150 tow bill I had to pay to get an estimate from another VW mechanic, paying the $92 to George for work he says he did disappoints me to no end. This is a small town...and the bad publicity from my encounter with this auto repair shop may likely cost them a lot more than the $92 he insisted I pay. By the way, I had the car towed to The Buggy Barn in Reno. It arrived at about 12pm. I had an estimate in my hands for all repairs needed for my Beetle to be road worthy at 2:53pm. AWFUL! NEVER GO HERE. First off you have to have an "appointment" but when making it the guy (George) never told me a time, I had to just make up a time to come in. Secondly this place is SUPER old and they charge you just to look at the vehicle..which by the way they DO NOT tell you when you drop off your car. They didn't seem to care much about me or my vehicle. The ONLY reason they are in business is because there is no competition, transplant this company to a large metropolitan area and it's OUT OF BUSINESS! read more
