Once my issue was resolved I called daily; sometimes even twice a day to attempt to reschedule and my calls were never returned and I'd get a random text with an appointment time that I never made. I would even say in my messages how many messages I've left and not even a single effort to return my call. I can't speak for any care received as I was only ever to been seen there for an initial visit. After his Occupational Therapy evaluation at Kaiser he was denied therapy because he was "delayed, but not delayed enough." Knowing that my son could really benefit from OT therapy, I contacted the Alta Regional Center who referred my son to Monica at Little Bird Courage Company for an evaluation. She came to our home this past Tuesday and was with us for over 2 hours. She is extremely knowledgable and worked very well with my son. He was tired and fussy and she gave him all of the time he needed. She also took the time to explain a lot of things about our son that we did not know, like why he did certain things and how we can help him modify negative behaviors. I really appreciate the time she took to explain my son's behaviors to us because in all of the evaluations he has had no one ever tried to help us gain a better understanding of my son's ASD and Monica did.

His bedside manner is always phenomenal and treats you like family. He listens and is super patient with us and my daughter who has a genetic disorder and epilepsy. Their EEG tech-so sorry I forgot her name, she is also incredible. Usually my daughter fights when they put eeg wires on but with her, my 6 year old daughter is mostly calm because EEG tech is so sweet & friendly- she's also super fast and efficient that it's a breeze when my daughter has to get her wires on and get taken off with her. The girls in the front are always fast when it comes to paperwork and giving messages to Dr. Raina- they are always polite & friendly. My father in law was repeatedly telling staff that he could not breathe. His daughter was called…read moreand told that staff could not calm him down. By the time she arrived, he had called 911 himself from his cell phone because he was still struggling to breathe. What made the situation worse was that a staff member told his daughter that she had spoken with a director and that he would not be welcome back if he left by ambulance because of the way he was acting and because he had called 911 himself. He was not simply being difficult or agitated. He was transported to the hospital and found to be in acute hypoxic respiratory failure and suffering an NSTEMI. His condition was serious enough that he was intubated and placed on mechanical ventilation in the emergency department and then admitted to the ICU. The hardest part for our family to accept is that he was repeatedly saying he could not breathe, yet the situation appeared to be treated primarily as a problem of calming him down. He ultimately had to call 911 himself. We are also extremely troubled that calling 911 for emergency medical help was reportedly used as a reason to tell his daughter he would not be welcome back. We have submitted a formal complaint regarding what happened. Based on our family's experience, I cannot recommend this facility.
