We have a mortgage with Valley, refinanced from another lender. The only thing they have going for them is a low interest rate. Their customer service is TERRIBLE, and they continue to make huge blunders, which they neither acknowledge nor apologize for. 1) They refuse to accept ACH payments. No apology for this. 2) As a result of #1, they once lost a paper check, and called to berate us for a late payment. That guy was incredibly rude, which seems beyond the pale for a payment that is only 10 days overdue (which, of course, it wasn't). No apology. 3) They messed up paying our real-estate taxes, with the result that our city published our property as for sale at an auction. Again, no apology. 4) Without proper notice, they stopped sending paper statements, and we missed a payment. (It has been a very stressful time in the family, with an elderly parent's illness.) They managed to send THREE late-payment notices, mailed only days apart--but no notice of their change in policy. They insist they sent e-mail, but I have received none (not even in spam). Again, no apology from them. It seems from the reviews that our experience is hardly unique. And we have 800+ credit ratings. You can do better than these bozos. read more

Did not receive my 1099-INT report for my many CD accounts. Called several times and was put on a "brief hold" every time. The "brief hold" was longer than ten minutes each time. When I finally spoke to someone, I was promised my 1099-INT. The 1099-INT was never received. AVOID THIS BANK read more

They have my mortgage. Complete and utter garbage in Customer Support. Which is to say there is none. They intentionally will not reveal any phone number for Help on their site. And when you finally find their 800 number there is absolutely no way to get to a human. And unlike more reputable orgs they do not offer chat customer service read more

This is the worst bank for small business. In this COVID economy, they do not make the funds available as per federal banking regulations. They want to keep charging overdraft fees, Stay away from this bank, they are not small business friendly. read more

After banking with Valley for over 15 years, they decided to switch my account type a few months back and I could no longer import my transactions into QuickBooks. I spoke with Ildiko Fekete Peluso at the route 46 Parsippany branch and she assured me this would be rectified but now she don't even return my calls. read more

I have had accounts here for 25 years. The fees have been steadily increasing and the customer service keeps getting worse. The ATM are frequently out of service and they shut them all down at the same time for maintenance weekly on Friday afternoon. They give a new meaning to "bank robbery " read more

DO NOT PRE Pay 2018 REAL ESTATE TAXES! Valley will still require you to pay your taxes directly to Valley until Valley does a new escrow analysis at their conveinence. So even though I prepaid QTR 1 2018 real estate taxes to my township, Valley says I still have to pay Valley!!! And if I make a "partial" payment (its only partial because I no longer require Valley to pay my real estate taxes) Valley will NOT PROCESS my corrected payment amount. This gives Valley an opportunity to assess me a late fee!!!! Heidi Q read more

Worst bank ever. Horrible customer service. Nickel and dime you to death-charge for everything-even for taking your OWN money from the ATM ($1). Hold forever with customer telephone service. Auto loan department overcharges you for interest. Had to file a complaint with FTC. STAY AWAY!!!! There are many banks that give you adequate service with many perks at NO CHARGE read more

I pay my mortgage by auto pay regular payments for 3 years. I get a letter from them telling me my payment is late, they are charging a late fee, and threating to report me to a credit bureau. I check my account and the payment is listed as having cleared. Bank of America records indicate the payment was timely and they have a cleared check cashed by Valley. BOA calls Valley but Valley refuses to cooperate. Apparently, they are stuck in 1983 where technology is primitive. I call Valley and of course can't get through due to volume. Bet this is a systemic problem. DO NOT use this bank they are terrible. read more

This week I make the final payment on my auto loan , and oh what a joyous day. Never in my life have a I had a worse experience with any company as I have had with Valley National Bank. I have had you call me with threats and harassment for payments I made that you have lost, and when I have sent proof in the form of electronic receipt of payment directly from my bank account I was told it was not good enough. I have had several horrible interactions with Lisa, a totally unprofessional, rude and surely human being, who made several threats to harm my credit despite the fact I have never even been late once in the five-year duration of this auto loan. It was only after the assistant branch manager of my local Chase (a far superior bank that treats its customers with respect and professionalism) stepped in and called Lisa to explain not only were all my payments successfully sent but they were deposited by Valley. Lisa "Crusher of Souls" would promise not to harm my credit over 2 missed payments that were received. Keep in mind that miss sunshine and daises would still not admit that I paid, just that she would look into it with accounting. Additionally, I received another disrespectful phone call from Lisa not too long after this incident due to a type-o in my regular electronic payment where I paid $0.35 short. It also took one full year to receive a coupon book after repeated requests. For these reasons and more, I will NEVER do business with Valley National Bank again; if I need another car loan I would rather purchase a skate board to get to work, I would sooner hire a homeless man to carry me in a back pack like "master blaster" to work, I would sooner sell my family's last cow for magic beans out of which a mighty beanstalk would grow so I can climb it to get to work, I would rather discover the mystic secrets of male Kegel exercise to condition my sphincter to such a state as merely flexing it will propel me through the air with such velocity that I could get to work. I will make a point to prevent any of my friends, family, loved ones, and any casual stranger I may encounter while standing at a urinal at a sporting event to avoid Valley National Bank as if it were a croissant covered in hepatitis. In fact, while typing this I spotted a dog outside my window so I took a break to yell to him "hey dog, do not do business with Valley National Bank!!!" do not darken my door step with any solicitation which companies are known to send after someone has fully and may I add perfectly fulfilled their loan obligation. I am not interested in ever doing business with you again. If tomorrow, Valley National Bank cornered the market on oxygen I will straight up "Violet Beauregard" all over myself. read more

I got a overpriced loan for my Honda in 2007. When the economy went sour in 2008, I was unable to make prompt payments. This bank's main office called my business and personal # at least 2 to 3 times a day for months. After getting a phone call from an very rude gentleman, who got me to tears twice I stopped taking their calls. They received a monthly payment with late payments each month with the late payment fee. I was unable to get ahead with payments and this bank did not want to find a solution. I even attempted to add $50 to 5 payments, and was told that this would come off my principle. Now I am at last at my last payment , and was told the payment is 2X the normal payment. I was informed that they had added interest each day it was late, a "Late payment on the interest". I am sending them them the check today, but not without the final word. If you read this, don't bank with them ! Their collections department staff is nasty to say the least. They are not there to work out solutions to problems their customers may have. The are the rudest collection department of a bank that I have ever dealt with ( and I did deal with other banks at this period of time that did not treat their customers like that!) read more
