The installation hit a couple unforeseeable snags so the project was 3 days, but they made sure that we had heat. I also was able to meet several of their staff and was very impressed by their work ethic, knowledge and kindness. I had to call this week about a rattle I had never heard before. Kyle was here the NEXT morning. He spent several hours under my house and inside. He didn't "see" anything but removed and retightened possible causes. We waited for 2 cycles of the unit and we believe the rattle is gone. If not Kyle assured me that it would be fixed if it reappeared. I am very thankful to Excel Heating and Cooling for excellent service staff and product. PS they also sent me the most delicious airpacked sleeve of fresh cookies in a tote, that was a huge hit at Thanksgiving week in WNY, as a thank you.

He did the annual maintenance, since it was due and changed the oil. He explained everything to me and double checked to be sure everything was good to go. He encountered a wasp nest by my back door and told me about it. I got my can of wasp spray and he very kindly took it from me and went all around the house to spray any others. (I'm elderly and use a walker). Said he got six! this was James's second visit to my home. He came out last January in that awful snowstorm to get me up and running when the power was out. You couldn't ask for a more professional, knowledgeable, or dedicated employee. James is truly my hero!!!

Please beware of this company. I called them last year to do maintenance on my generator, and the…read morebill was average with other companies at $350-400. I called them again to diagnose a red light on the unit, and their fees are $65 for a diagnostic and $175+ for travel time. Which is totally ridiculous, I know it's a +30 minute drive, but 3 times the diagnostic fee is ridiculous. The tech changed the battery that was supposedly faulty without telling me he was going to change it and then charging an astronomical fee to do so. I am very handy and just wanted a simple diagnostic, and I could have changed the small battery by myself for a quarter of the price. It's been a ton of back and forth with this company and I definitely don't recommend them or their practices to do work workout notifying first and their crazy travel fee. They should have caught the low battery issue when they came out a month prior as the red light came right back on after they left. I dont think they should have billed their ridiculous fees for coming out one month later if they didn't spot the issue right away. Please do some research and find another company.

I used to do utility consumption modeling for the Federal government and was probably an annoyance with all the different specs and models I wanted to compare before choosing, but they were always polite. I was very pleased with both their prices and work. I confess to having a bias towards Carrier products over a number of moves because they seem to offer a good cost/reliability/efficiency mix than two other brands I've tried. Also, I got the energy savings I expected with the Carrier models more-so than with two other well-rated brands. We are fortunate to have other good contractors and equipment choices in our area, but I recommend getting a quote from this firm if you are in the market. One suggestion: learn what SEER and HSPF mean and use those ratings when deciding how much to spend when considering more efficient units. Sometimes the payback on a higher efficiency unit easily justifies a higher cost, and sometimes it doesn't.
