I had a great experience working with Above the Code Electrical. From the beginning, communication was prompt, clear, and professional, and I was quickly scheduled for a free quote. After I approved the project, John and his team delivered exceptional workmanship--upgrading my electrical service and expertly installing and testing the Hysolis expandable electric generators. Their attention to detail and care throughout the process was outstanding. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. read more

They were the only ones that answered the phone right away. Showed up the same day. Gave professional advice, service, and install. They were very flexible as we were going through an Army move. Communicated throughout as we needed to pull a plumber into the project. Grateful that they did the job right in a very short amount of time. read more

Updated review on 27 JUN 23 Outstanding work! We've used Above the Code Electrical three times now, and have never been let down once! The last project included adding a outside hookup and line that attaches to our portable Generac generator outside to our breaker box inside, also replacing most of our old and dangerous inside electrical outlets, and checking and repairing a couple of fan switches. They also placed a surge protector into the breaker box for lightning strikes. They were on time, polite, did great work, and if electrical work is needed again- we'll be giving Above the Code Electrical for sure! Thanks! Doc Lykins Midlothian, VA read more

Devin showed up when I was told he would, worked clean and fast. Susan was excellent with communications. Will definitely use them again.

Loved my experience with Above The Code! My husband runs a business in our home and he was knocking the electricity out with his equipment. We needed an extra receptacle installed and Above The Code was here in a matter of days. My daughter was home sick that day and the owner was very understanding about wearing a mask, and even mentioned that he'd keep the noise down for her. I was impressed from start to finish. I also mentioned other jobs that I wanted done in the future and he took the time to explain them all to me. There is no doubt that I will reach out to Above the Code when we are ready to get started on those projects. I had another electrician come out previously to give me a quote on this same project and it was an awful experience. This job was done in a little over an hour and I was able to pay electronically. The best part? I received a HAND WRITTEN thank you card in the mail a few weeks later thanking me for my business. That's how it's done, folks. read more

We cannot say enough good things about Above the Code! From the remarkable person who manages their main communication line (you are awesome!) to their knowledgeable electricians, we've been super pleased with their service. They've installed a ceiling fan and two overhead lights for us. They also set up a transformer and wiring so we could add a wired doorbell to our front door. And they installed the doorbell! They never made us feel less than for needing to ask basic questions, AND, even after we asked basic questions, they didn't try to up charge us or scare us into doing more work. In fact, they told us we could wait on one project if we wanted to. A+ service. I wish more places were like this. read more

Great service, would highly recommend. We had an EV plug installed in our garage and Above The Code was knowledgeable along the way.

Nice job removing the old and installing ovens I found online. They also got a ceiling box replaced for me for a light and found what was luckily an easy fix to a complex issue. Very nice people. My only issue was their prices are higher than others. But for me it was time vs money and time won. read more

John and Susan are top notch! So kind and friendly and very knowledgeable. I use them for anything electrical.

I would give 6 stars if I could. Great communication and follow-up, timely scheduling, quality work.

The reviews aren't lying...terrific experience all the way around. Devon and Nick were on time, courteous, professional and very effective in diagnosing and solving our problems. A special shouout to Susan in the office who answered the phone immediately, answered all of my questions and communicated throughout. Overall, could not ask for a better customer experience. read more

Life savers. What an amazing company! Truly a godsend. They answered my inquiry very quickly and scheduled an appointment to fix a mystery short we had on one of our ciruits. I was unable to solve it, even though I have had some handyman experience in household circuits. The technician was methodical in his investigation, asked a few questions, and quickly found the problem. I was very impressed. Everyone we talked to was professional and friendly. They are our go-to contractor for electrical problems now. Very fair pricing. read more

Called Above the Code for an estimate to install a 240 volt line and outlet. They came to discuss the job, offered me a price more than 30% below two other, larger electrician companies and then did the work, all within a week. They were through, professional, clean, polite and worked hard on a 99 degree day! I am glad I found them because I will definitely use them again! read more

There's a reason why they have such amazing reviews here. They truly are amazing! They came out to my place within a week of my initial call. Their price was very reasonable. They were very professional, fast, and friendly. They had no issue replacing my super old living room light fixture and it was done within 30 min. (My dad told me replacing it would be tricky because the wiring was weird.) Then they cleaned the dirt from the ceiling, put in the lightbulbs, swept the floor, vacuumed the floor, and rolled my area rug back out! So sweet! I honestly haven't came across such sweet guys in a very long time! And my light looks amazing! read more

I called this company to come to my moms house to install her ring camera for her. The woman Susan I believe was super nice on the phone and assured me they took Covid precautions and had a lot of ring installs recently. The gentlemen who came for the install helped my mom with everything and was super friendly. After a few days I got a handwritten card thanking us for their business and that was a great touch. When you have to schedule things like this for a parent it can be very stressful because you want them to feel safe and not let them get taken advantage of and Above the Code made this process seamless. If she ever needs anything else done, they will be getting our business. read more

My experience with Above the Code was so awesome! I never write reviews, but they were so stellar. Devon came out for the repair and was very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. He found the problem right away and explained my options and pricing was very reasonable. I have lights again! Very responsive, reliable and competitive pricing. Very pleased with our experience and will be a repeat customer.

When I bought my condo a few years ago, there was a small ceiling fan-light combo already installed in the room I use for an office. The fan didn't do much cooling and the wall control never worked properly; the light and fan couldn't be operated separately and the light never reached full brightness. Finally, the wall control burned out. The technician from Above the Code explained that the wall control had only a two-wire hookup instead of the required three-wire hookup. He also explained that a post-construction three-wire hookup would be messy and costly, so he recommended installing an on-off switch in place of the wall control, and installing a remote-controlled ceiling fan-light combo in place of the existing one. So I bought a new, larger fan-light combo with a hand-held remote. The technician returned promptly to install it quickly and tidily. Now I have a better-looking and more effective ceiling fan, and a bright overhead light that operates independently of the fan. read more

What an absolute pleasure it was dealing with this family owned business from the initial phone call throughout the process. Their pricing quote was extremely reasonable. We called Above the Code Electric after our electric went out. The team was booked out 3 days with all the work needing done. The same day I got a call stating that the teams got done early and could be here in a few hours. The team seemed to really care about solving the issues quickly! After arriving everyone was polite and helpful in figuring out what was wrong. The power was turned back on within 1.5 to 2 hours. The team left and everything was working. The next day the power was out and I have them and they sent the same team out. They were super courteous and explained we might have to go deeper and check every plug in the house. After an 45 minutes the team figured it was a defective outlet upstairs. I appreciated the straight talk on what could be the issues and explaining everything logically. I would highly recommend Above the Code for their professionalism and honest work! read more
