OH... HECK YEAH! La…read moreFrance in Ybor City is easily one of my most favorite shops in Tampa, period, and I do not say that lightly... The 2nd you walk in, you feel like you have entered a world where normal rules do not apply ....self expression is not just allowed, it is a demand.. There is absolutely no way you are leaving this store without something you adore because the selection is outrageous. Period gowns, corsets, dramatic top hats, Cuban shirts, feathers, faux diamonds, canes, statement jackets, wild accessories, and all the extra embellishments that make an outfit go from basic to unforgettable are packed into every corner. You almost have to take a full tour before committing to anything because your brain needs a minute to process how much fabulousness is happening all at once. What makes it even better is that you do not need a special occasion to justify being here. Yes, it is perfect for girls nights, boys nights, bachelor and bachelorette parties, themed events, and any moment that requires drama, but there are also pieces you can absolutely wear during the day if you are someone who refuses to blend into the background. You can find shirts and standout clothing that work beyond costume energy if you have the personality to match them. This shop succeeds where so many others have tried and failed because it does not feel cheap, thrown together, or gimmicky. It feels intentional, confident, and fully committed to its aesthetic. La France understands that fashion should be fun and expressive, not safe and forgettable. If you are in Tampa and you have not walked into La France, you are missing one of the most entertaining retail experiences in the city. Go see it for yourself, try things on, let yourself have a moment, and do not be surprised when you walk out smiling with something bold in your hands or wearing the outfit of your dreams!

Beautiful pieces at reasonable prices…read more This is not a Goodwill, so don't expect the pieces to be cheap. What's funny is we were just at Goodwill so I saw a glass jar that was similar to one I found at Goodwill, it was $8 at Goodwill and $34 there. However, that was the only piece I found at Goodwill, whereas here there were so many beautiful pieces. You really can't compare the two, so I'll stop here, but I just wanted to make that clear. I've been into helping the environment recently, so I want to buy secondhand pieces when I can. We were looking for a vase. I ended up finding a gorgeous shell shaped vase. They actually had two, but one had a crack on one side, which is why it was discounted by $50. I decided to go for the non cracked one, which was $140. I think this is reasonable for the quality and it's a statement piece. I saw tons of other items that I loved. There was a standing desk for around $350 and a lot of benches and tables all in the couple of hundred dollar range. Again, not cheap, but definitely less expensive than they probably were when they were new. The guy working there was really nice and helpful. Parking was easy on both sides of the building. They pack this place full of such beautiful finds. I will definitely be back.

Oh Whatever's mantra is "Unique & Eclectic Furniture, Decor & Illuminations." Hands down a HIGH QUALITY antique & vintage store (especially if mid-century furniture & decor is what interests you). The two mid-century booths belong to a woman w/ IMPECCABLE taste & an eye for quality mid-century! (She also is in business as a Home Stager, if you're interested.) My good friend was able to purchase a gorgeous framed mid-century painting from her, as well as two framed paintings by a well-known artist. I walked out with matching & stunning black & gold mid-century glass lamps ($295 before a discount); a George's Briard 22K gold glass dish ($38-- to match a drinking glass set I already own); & a 1940's wooden movable pin ($40)-- definitely not common. Should you want more information on what mid-century furniture & home decor merchandise is currently available here, phone the shop & ask to speak w/ JAN. (You may contact me for her email address, if that helps.) The shoppe is filled with all genres of antiques. I didn't see one piece that was not in PRISTINE CONDITION. Just a PHENOMENAL vintage store. My browsing partner is a former antique dealer. Together we have shopped the state almost monthly over the past 6+ years. When he loves an antique store, I know I'm correct in saying that it is one of the better ones you'll find. L00K @ the photos I posted-- such a GORGEOUS shoppe! Here you'll find paintings, metal art, & other wall decor; lots of furniture (NOT primitives, though); lamps & hanging light fixtures; costume jewelry & scarves; beer taps; cigar boxes; & SO much more! Do not come here expecting vintage trinkets & odds & ends. Do not come here thinking you'll get a steal on an antique or vintage item. These dealers know their merchandise & they know the market. But DO request a discount, but only only if you spend $100+ on any one item. (For example, I spent much more on a total of 3 items, but the one dealer gave me the discount on only the $100+ priced item.) There are NO RETURNS, so check the merchandise carefully before leaving. Should you need a home interior painter or someone to paint furniture, etc, speak with the shoppe's manager; it's a service offered here. Should you have merchandise you'd like to sell, phone the shoppe to discuss it w/ whomever is manning the counter @ the time. We'll definitely be back! It's too GREAT of a vintage shoppe not to drop in periodically to see what EXCEPTIONAL finds lie within its walls:)

A coffee table book of artworks in Ybor City for my friend who loves the area. In great condition and reasonably priced. Awesome. But worth it to customize my gift which the very nice young lady put into a bag with some tissue paper to make "gift". Awesome service. Fabulous stuff and that's just the books. There's also all sorts of other vintage and unique antique items on sale. Definite opportunity for gifts and light decor. [Round number review 15800 overall - 1380 in Florida - 1304 of 2021.]

My experience at Retro Mania Vintage Market in Tampa was appalling. I entered with my legitimate,…read moretrained service dog and was denied access simply because she wasn't wearing a vest. I explained that the ADA doesn't require a vest, yet the owner doubled down and compared it to a bar ID. That analogy is ignorant and flat-out wrong. Under 28 CFR 36.302(c)(6), a business may only ask if the dog is required because of a disability and what task it's trained to perform. No documentation, no vest. The Department of Justice also clearly states that no vest or ID is required. What made it worse was that the owner was holding his own dog, what appeared to be a new puppy, while denying my trained service animal. He then told me, quote, this becomes a liability for me if something happens. If his concern was an interaction between his own puppy and my trained service dog, that is a situation created by him, not me. I am also a disabled veteran. Being treated this way while relying on a service animal was humiliating and unacceptable. Disabled people, including disabled veterans, shouldn't have to educate business owners on basic federal law just to enter a store. This was unacceptable, discriminatory in effect, and completely avoidable.
