When you no longer need the extra clutter around the house, this is a great place to drop things off to be loved by someone else. The gentlemen that take your donations come to your car in the drop off area. They unload everything and if you need your boxes, bags, or containers back, they will gladly transfer it to their own bins. I went inside just to check things out and was wowed by how much of everything they had. The store was orderly for housewares, clothing and kids toys but I didn't find the flow of the store to be easy to find that "hard to find " item. I didn't make any purchases but I assume the value was good as the store was pretty busy on a Tuesday morning. The customer service was good but they too didn't seem to know where the odds and ends would be displayed. The store also had a bit of a used item flea market smell that I noticed when walking in. I've been coming here for over 30 years. I drop off my newspapers because they need them to wrap items. Then I take an hour or two and go around the store. No telling what you will find. I'm a crafter so I always find something to do arts and crafts with. I think Reese checked me out and she did a great job of bagging my items, including my Reidel Crystal wine glass! read more

I visited Sunshine Thrift Store for the first time on 2/17/26 around 4:00 PM. Up until checkout, my experience was actually great. I found a lot of good items and was genuinely enjoying the store. Unfortunately, that changed completely once I reached the register. The cashier, Shaqwanna, was extremely rude throughout the entire checkout process. When I asked a simple question, she yelled at me, which was shocking and completely uncalled for. Her behavior was disrespectful and made the situation very uncomfortable. I was honestly taken aback by how I was treated, especially after having such a positive shopping experience beforehand. Customer service at checkout matters, and this interaction overshadowed what could have been a great first visit. I hope management addresses this, because no customer should be spoken to that way. read more

I has been to the Sunshine Thrift in St. Pete and it's AWESOME! This one in South Tampa is a lil smaller, bustling, and stocked full with clothes, books, toys, games, housewares, and more. Both locations do 25 cents popcorn which is fun. As another reviewer noted there's not much furniture. Lots of hardworking employees. Friendly characters. I see some of my fav Yelpers beat me here and I don't blame them for keeping it a secret from me. Shout out Rachel M., Gigi S. Mike S. RIP, Jude and Amara. Great thrift store for both donations and shopping! Recently dropped off some items, which the gentleman helped me by taking them out of my trunk. Wide selection of clothes, shoes, toys, books, and household items for a reasonable price. I recently saw a pair of like-new lululemon leggings for $20 compared to ~$100 in store. Some of the sections are less organized than others making some household items more difficult to find. Clothes are sorted by type but not by size, making it a little more difficult to find items you're looking for, but otherwise and overall great thrift store read more

On a cream cotton purse these people wrote with orange crayon the price of the item, which ended up getting on the fabric. The woman at the counter proceeded to remove the stapled price tag from this crocheted purse and ruined the fabric. She didn't even tell me I found out once I got to my car. So careless and not very bright. read more

What a GEM of a thrift store!! I spent HOURS going through the racks of name-brand clothing that was in (mostly) very good condition...and the prices were fantastic...this store is EXACTLY how a thrift store should be organized/priced/and run. While I was there, several of the amazing staff were pulling merch off the racks to make room for new arrivals--store was clean, bright, and smelled of movie-theater popcorn. PLEASE consider opening one in Orlando--we have NOTHING that compares to your stores in the Tampa Bay/Bradenton area. read more

I couldn't give this place anything less than five stars. Recently , I lost my wallet and unfortunately , it fell in put in front of this store. The employees were able to keep it safe until we realized I had left it there. The different options from clothes to toys to books and antiques is phenomenal. If there was ever a place I wanted to donate my clothes or anything to this would be the place. A lot of thrift stores in the area are over priced and I would like my clothes to go two people who really need it. The prices are reasonable. The only thing is that they don't have labels for racks with sizes everything looks organized but the sizes are scattered. They do not hike up the prices so much that your paying full price from a retail store as if it was brand new. Most things under $7. The art could be less expensive but over all, I would recommend. read more

The store is very well stocked with clothing, especially. It's organized extremely well. Been a huge fan of the St. Pete location for years now, so I decided to cross the bay and check out the Tampa location as well. Their selection here seemed great, but prices were definitely higher here compared to the St. Pete location, to the point where I stopped looking at tags unless they were the ones on sale. Still was able to score some great finds including 2 pairs of 7 for All Mankind jeans that fit like a tailor perfected them for me, and a few great books to enjoy. Furniture section was much smaller here, but the bric-a-brac & clothing sections were a good size. Plenty of parking too! read more

I came here because I heard there is always name brand athletic wear here. Unfortunately, I did not find anything I liked in the athletic department. I was hoping to find nike or lululemon gear. I did get a really pretty necklace and a couple dresses for work. This thrift shop is more expensive than goodwill, but I'm okay with spending a little extra if the quality is good. I traveled here from Riverview, but if you're in the Brandon are, check out the Goodwill on 301 and the new location on Big Bend. read more

This store used to be good for finding anything, from clothing to household items for a great price but these days, their items are so expensive! I've seen items that were originally from the Dollar Tree, priced at this store for $2.92. I've seen items that were priced from a garage sale for $4 marked up to almost $7 at this store. It's my understanding that SOME of the money goes to a charity but I have to wonder how much goes into the pockets of the manager, the CEO of the nonprofit organization and others that are part of the Office personnel. I doubt the cashiers make very much. And just because some of the money goes to a charity, I have to wonder exactly what that percentage is. I've donated so much to this store over the last decade. I now donate to the ABC THRIFTSTORE on Macdill, that is a nonprofit for animals. read more

Came here just to look at a new location of this thrift store since i'd liked going to the st pete location just recently, and like that location, there was a good selection. about double the price though ... a pair of well worn kids pajamas for 4.95$ ? and no sale if no tag you'd have to come back whenever they get it back on the shelf after [they] leave it with no tag. odd future i'd say when all the things in the category are the same price regardless of wear. When you need help w the jewelry/specialty items behind the case i'd suggest making up your mind before you ring the bell to surely ask for some assistance that may or may not come. bc you will be rushed and not given even a second before it's placed back into the shelf and they walk away. Maybe don't buy any glassware or jewelry either, it will be sat in stacks in a singular plastic bag or daintily put into one sheet of newspaper and flipped over when doubled. your jewelry will be tangled, and keep in mind it's cheap, don't expect it to be intact after untangling. poor customer service, high prices, and poor care for items you've purchased. if at all possible visit the st. pete location read more

Sunshine Thrift here in Tampa on Dale Mabry has made some nice improvements to the store! 1. Very clean 2. More organized 3. Always friendly staff 4. More 50% sales Children's books galore, furniture, clothing, upscale clothing as well! I found new, yes, new! (Original tags) on several shorts, skirt, a nice to top match and a new blanket for pops! I like this little thrift store but I had to report an elderly lady employee that literally harassed my baby and toddler on three occasions for touching things while I was standing right there supervising them. Apparently she decided my very gentle and sweet kids couldn't touch anything in the store. The other lady running the store took care of it but I don't like going in there with my kids anymore- which is the whole point because I take them there to find a goody. read more

I was a loyal shopper for a long time, up until last week... I filed a complaint to Sunshine Thrift Store, Inc about two employees. LISA a manager, and CAROL a cashier. These two individual's have no business working in a customer service setting. They are incompetent, RUDE, no people skills, and are self centered individual's. I was barred from the store after filing my complaint to corporate. No reason given for my being not permitted back at the store. More than likely, I will seek legal action against them for their actions against me. Lisa and Carol both need to be terminated. Carol was extremely unpleasant at the counter. We just wanted to see if the food scale worked and asked for a coin and if not we had one one in the car, she threw her hands up and was just rude about it then slapped one of the counter ads on it so we just left. It's my birthday today and I'm spending the day thrifting in town. Won't be returning here and if I did I won't be checking out with carol. Love browsing through both the Tampa and St Pete sunshine thrift stores. Haven't made it to the Bradenton store yet. Always good deals especially on clothes. I'm a repeat customer and will continue to do so. Their prices are excellent when compared to Goodwill. As with all thrift stores just know your brands, the value and look them over carefully before purchasing. But sunshine is definitely worth the stop. read more

I am a thrift store-holic. I love shopping at thrift stores. This location is one of my favorite thrift stores. I was there this past weekend and once again I found some nice finds. Blouses, jeans, a purse, and a few other articles of clothing for $40 that would have cost at least three times that new. Some of the women's blouses can be on the high side but I have found some great deals there. Overall the prices are pretty good. The cashiers are nice and friendly. They offer restrooms to the public which is a plus. There are also changing rooms near the restrooms which I use if the other changing rooms near the women's clothing are packed. I took one picture while I was there so check it out. Overall a nice place to shop. I will be back again :) read more
