With food, there's usually about 8 trucks or so scattered around, with everything from pizza, tacos, and reuben sandwiches to cupcakes and other sweets. Plus, you can take advantage of the businesses in the cottages for sweet ice cream, peanut brittle, and snowballs (which were my personal favorite). Remember to bring a camp chair or blanket, as there is no seating available. Also, if you want, you can bring beer or wine. Finally, you could end up having to park all the way down the street, so you may want to arrive early just in case.

The stage was angled oddly this time so it was not directly facing the majority of the crowd. Also, there was a huge tree right in front of the stage which blocked the view. Parking is a pain typically with any event at Lake Ella. There were 7 food trucks out there this time, which includes Lucy & Leo's cupcakes in an adorable vintage style camper. I bought food from El Criollo and Street Chefs. Friends bought food from Valhalla and Fired Up Pizza. Overall, if the weather is good, this is a relaxing way to spend an evening out.

Tallahassee's newest Food Truck Gathering Place is in Killearn every Wednesday in The Parking Lot…read moreof the old Food Lion Shopping Center,,let's start with the good in that it's got two of my favorite food trucks in town every week(Donaven's and Valhalla Grill) and The Cake Shop has a booth set up as well...you cant go wrong with the food at either of the previously mentioned food trucks with The Shepards Pie at Donaven's and The Roast Beef Sandwich(The Viking) and The Bleu Cheese Burger(The Blue Ox) at Valhalla Grill being particularly noteworthy...The Cake Shop also brings a selection of cakes and cupcakes out there which are all great and they are the best Cake Shop in town and far superior to Tasty Pastry IMO...now for the not so good...it takes place in a parking lot with a view of a run down shopping center and a Circle K with cars whizzing by on Kerry Forest Parkway...certainly not the ambience of The Food Truck Rally at Lake Ella or even First Friday at Railroad Square...after you get your food there is no where to sit but a few picnic tables so most people just take their food home to eat, so this prevents this Food Truck Rally from becoming a communal scene like a lot of them do...the amount of food trucks is not enough right now and this leads to most of the food trucks running out of food long before the stated 8:00 closing times...besides the ones previously mentioned El Criollo..A Wood Fired Pizza Truck..a Cambodian Food Truck..and a Hamburger/Hot Dog Food Truck are usually there...with the big crowds that show up every week it would be nice if some of the other really good Tally Food Trucks like Mobi and Foodz Traveler would start coming so that there would be more selection and food..even though I am a big fan of Food Truck Wednesday I can only give it 3 stars for the reasons I mentioned and when comparing it to other Tally Food Truck Events like Lake Ella Thursday and First Friday...it's in it's beginning growth stages right now and I am hopeful in the future I will be able to up my rating if the rally expands,,,definitely worth going to now, but get there early to assure yourself of getting food else you may end up settling for a nasty hot dog on the rollers at Circle K across the street

A base guideline would be, "one specialty dish per continent." It seems like the Beer Battered Fish and Chips are their hot ticket item, and I now I understand why. Pacific cod has never tasted so flavorful. We're talking perfect execution of the fish, the fries, and the tartar sauce. Crisp, crunchy, tender, mmmmm. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. Backpackers Box is run by a passionate couple who have extensive experience traveling the world. We should be so lucky that we have them here in Tallahassee. Roadside Barbeque Tallahassee, FL…read more The worst Sliced Brisket I have ever been served. WOW... This place let me down for lunch. I wanted some good barbeque for lunch, so I decided to try Roadside Barbeque recommended by a few coworkers. Roadside Barbeque operates in a parking lot on Orange Ave in Tallahassee, Florida cooking on location on a large charcoal pit and serving food from a small trailer. My first impression when I pulled up was "this is going to be good" judging by the number of customers outside waiting for their orders and by the smell of the smoke coming from the pit. The time to place my order was 10 minutes. I had to wait an additional 15 - 20 minutes for my order to be ready. There were about 4 people inside the trailer, but there seemed to be no sense of urgency in serving the customers. The order taker, who was very friendly, polite and thanked each guest, was also the same person handing out the complete orders, which is ok, but she was sitting the entire time creating the impression that she was not in hurry. The cook manning the pit was working extremely hard. I ordered brisket dinner with two sides; I chose the baked beans, and the macaroni and cheese served with two slices of bread for $25.00 (ouch). I asked for the barbecue sauce to be placed on the side, but the order taker stated they were out of containers to the sauce in. The dinner had 4 slices of thick cut brisket which was mostly fatty, extremely dry, tough, and had NO flavor except for the excessive amount of sauce sitting on top of two slices of white bread. I'm assuming the extra sauce on the meat was an attempt to cover up the dryness of the meat and to add flavor. To sum it up, two slices of brisket were nothing but fat making them uneatable, and two slices of brisket were dry as if they had been sitting for an extended period resulting in the brisket not being enjoyable. The macaroni and cheese were dry, flavorless, and not cheesy. The baked beans tasted like bean poured right out ot the can with a touch of sugar for sweetness added. I don't mind spending my money supporting small minority businesses, but for $25.00 I expected a better and higher quality meal. I did not go back to ask for a refund, and I will take this one as a meal loss. I may even return in the future to give them another try and maybe try something different from the menu. I normally dine at the chain barbeque restaurants like Sonny's Barbecue, etc. because they normally have a refund or product replacement policy the quality or taste of the food is not up to standards.

We ordered a 1/4 of a cow from a farmer in Georgia and this is the place that processed it…read more This was our first time doing this so we walked in and asked for our 1/4 cow and we had to drive around back. But the inside is full of beef, pork, chicken, smoked sausage and so much more. They have an area that they serve cooked food, but that portion closes after lunch time. We got our cow loaded into the cooler and we got a credit for not taking the boxes. So of course we went inside to buy some chicken and smoked sausage and bacon (with or without the rind) that they slice right there. Amazing pricing and service was quick, helpful and knowledgeable. They ship too which is good to know since it was a 2 hour drive for us.
