Stopped by here since the parking in this area is all around congested and horrible, and absolutely no areas to take a restroom break. Great, there's a bathroom on the side on the building. We buy some gas. We ask for the bathrooms, and apparently it's out of order. I seen a review here from a year ago saying the same thing. I don't buy it. Came by for a fill up the other day and it was a quick and easy experience. Pricing was the lowest top tier non-membership gas in the area! NFC payment was down at my pump. Other than that, the fuel pump was in good working order wit a functioning card reader, pin pad, and receipt dispenser. The island also had a squeegee and paper towels too. read more

The gas station hours on the window says open at 6 am. I've been there a couple time after 6 am between 6 am and 6:30 am the door is locked. A few times the lady opens it and sometimes she does not. And you will see her hiding in the store. I don't understand why anyone would turn away customers. Change your business hours if you don't want to open the door at the scheduled hours. Quick and cheap, just the way I like it. Gas here isn't as cheap as Costco, but sometimes it's not worth going out of the way to save a buck. And at $3.99/gallon (credit card price) today, this Valero is priced competitively compared to some other stations in Sunnyvale. The station is a bit smaller with only 8 pumps, but it wasn't busy this Saturday afternoon. You'll have to worry more about trying to get back onto El Camino with its incessant traffic! And the location is particularly convenient if you're looking for a place to fill up your U-Haul truck before returning it, since U-Haul is just a block up the road. read more

I stopped to fill up for gas on my way home. Roughly 4:45. I was completely empty, so it took a while to fill up. I usually let the pump do it's thing, and took the time to clean my windows. There are a ton of pine and other pollen creating trees where I live so my car is constantly getting dirty. I cleaned the back, front, and passenger side windows. As I was finishing cleaning the driver window, the manager (I assume - or clerk, idk) came out and asked me to finish. He said "this is rush hour, people are waiting" (looks around - no one waiting. There was ONE taxi waiting for me when there was a pump already open, AND mine was still running. I'm not moving until I'm gassed up, fully...) and continues to say "I've been watching you cleaning everything; can you move for other customers." Be offered for me to pull in front of the store and then run back and forth to continue cleaning but I was squeegeeing the last bits - I didn't need to finish anything. I peeped the pump and told him I'm not even topped off. That I was cleaning my last window and then be done, anyway. Which is ridiculous that I had to explain my self - this is a service you provide for people that need it. Shooing me away just because you're worried I'm using a free service as I PAY for my gas? He tried to usher me again AS I finished so I told him I'm done, I'm getting out of the way. But no one is waiting. Poor form. He was more concerned about new customers. What, driving by? Seeing you're empty rather than busy providing the service you are meant to offer? Yeah it's the cheapest for about a mile (heading towards Santa Clara) but I can find another comparable gas station. BEWARE, DO NOT HAVE AUTO WORK DONE HERE!!! I live right across the street and my work truck was acting up, backfiring, misfiring and not throttling right. I brought it here figuring it would be convenient and I would have it back quickly for my business. I was quoted $400, for the work on the spot, he called later speaking in very broken english, barely legible to understand and said it would be a little more because they found another item (he mentioned no amount, just made it sound like a "little" something). He said my truck was ready and when I went to pick it up he told me $850!!! I said whatever, as long as I have my truck for work, I can't be down long without my rolling shop. The next morning when truck was cold and I started it, it did the same thing,,, but worse!! So I went back and told him he was going to figure it out and get it right without another penny from me as I already paid a small fortune, so I left it again. He calls later and says he will do the labor for free, but needed $400 for more parts,,, I called B*LLSH*T... I told him to give me a list of these parts and I would get them,,, I got all the parts for $90!!! So, he did that work and guess what,,,, Truck was still the same again!! I went back with my books to get all his business info to begin a court claim and he begged me for one more chance, he asked me to take it somewhere else for a diagnostic and he would do the work. I brought it to another shop (Art Stange on Evelyn in Sunnyvale), he had it diagnosed within the hour, and I told him to just do the work, which he had completed in 1.5 hours for $250 I went to Valero and made him cover my cost of the repair (I wasn't about to leave my car with him again), he only gave me $200 in compensation towards the final $250 bill and brushed me off. Bottom line, I am out $950 in absolutely null & void work that did not need to be done........CROOKS!! read more

My truck broke-down on my son when he was fulling at the gas station. It had been acting this way for several days, not starting then starting after a few hours. Since I was not 100% sure that it was the starter, I decided to have the mechanic (John) diagnose it. He quoted me $90.00 I though it was high but agreed anyway. John called me about an hour later and stated that the starter needed to be replaced, he quoted me $785.00 to replace it. I thought it was too much and told him I would call him back. After finding the starter at a local parts store for $95.00 I called John back and told him I was doing the repair myself and would be towing my truck home. When I arrived at the shop I tried to start the truck. The truck did not start, additional, I noticed that the starter relay did not click when I turned the key; I pointed it out to my son and he agreed. Note: while waiting for the tow truck John did two things that made me feel he was shady. First, I saw John repair a flat tire, he took the object out and put the plug in without adding the rubber cement, filled the tire wit air and sent him on his way. Secondly, he wished me luck on fixing it myself......several times, his demeanor and facial expressions were weird every time he said it. My intuition told me he had done something to the truck. After I replaced the starter the next day, the truck did not start. Since I suspected that John had sabotaged my truck, I started inspecting the starter relay wires, and found the red wire had been cut, you could clearly see it was a fresh cut. I had to take the battery out to find where it had been cut. The second part of the wire was covered by the black tape holding several wires together. After I joined the wires together the truck started right up. When I confronted John he denied any wrongdoing. Plus pretend not to know what the wire was connected to. I came here for a last minute oil change before taking my car up to Tahoe. First off I came here at 6 p.m. They were closed yet they still were like OK we can do an oil change for you. I also had screws missing from my door and tried to get one out and go and look for screws while they were changing my oil. They were nice enough to see if they had screws that fit and also took about 15-20 min helping get the screw out. Although the screw situation was unsuccessful but the over all service was above and beyond what i expected. They also checked fluids and refilled them and checked my tires. See if you will ever find a gas station that does an oil change like that. read more

I came here just for gas and for 87, it is only 4.08 with cash which is a good deal when you compare to ARCO which is 4.15 with cash. I don't expect this Valero to have good price. I normally pump 91 for my new lexus and 87 for my old Infiniti. That is a huge saving when you compare with the high cost of has prices. No comment on the car service or the cashier. Example of the service of the guys in the shop. My wife who is 8 months pregnant noticed that the back tire on my Durango was dangerously low while following me to the uhaul to return our truck during our move. She had our 8 year old son with her while I went to the uhaul with our other 2 children in the truck. She pulled into the Valero and asked the man in the mechanic shop for help pumping the tire up. He simply said "No, the air is self service on the side of the building". My wife continued around the building to park by the air compressor . The nozzle for the air was very old and required you to push down extremely hard without letting the existing air out if the tire . Of course she tried and made the tire completely flat. By this time I was 5 blocks away at uhaul and had already returned our truck. My wife then calls me and explains that the tire is now completely flat and that she walked to the mechanic shop to ask one of the 3 guys just standing around to assist her in using the air and they refused again saying again that it is self service . By this time I was furious! I started walking down el camino towards the gas station with my 2 kids. I decided to call the mechanic shop. I asked the guy who answered why he could not help an 8 month pregnant woman with putting air in her tire and he said " it's self service" and hung up! When I got to the station , I asked for the owners name . The kid behind the gas station counter apologized and said that he couldn't leave the register alone to help her which I completely understand so I walked around to the mechanic shop and asked a Vietnamese man standing in there if he was the one I spoke to on the phone and hung up. He said yes and walked away, refusing to give me the owners name . I will never return to this Valero station . Short Changed After a Shift Change: My boyfriend stopped to get $20 worth of gas for his Yukon. Offered up cash, which takes 10 seconds to put in the register and activate the pump. But he was made to wait and hold on to his money while the employees did a shift-change (uh, customer service?). So, okay, $20 on pump #6. Started the pump but it suddenly stopped at $4.88. The pump's screen read "pump shut off", which is a function the cashier controls via the cash register. So my boyfriend went inside to see if the cashier inadvertently hit the "stop pump" button. The cashier told him "you got your gas" and denied stopping the pump and didn't seem inclined to proffer any change. This is when my boyfriend concluded the cashier is absolutely ripping him off and says so. He speculated, aloud and loudly, that this busy Valero counts on cash paying customers to be in too much of a rush to verify the amount on the pump matches the amount they paid inside. Intead, when the pump stops they hang up the gun and drive away, assuming they've gotten the correct amount of gas for the amount they paid. When my boyfriend asked for proof that he received $20 worth of gas, the cashier printed a receipt for pump #3 instead of pump #6. Further evidence of the gas station's deceptive practices. After more discussion, they now print the receipt for pump 6. Apparently the receipt for pump #6 didn't show a $20 payment either. When my boyfriend told the employee that he himself is a cashier at another Valero and he knows the only way to shut off a pump is from the register, another man behind the counter said "You talk too much!" So my boyfriend went ballistic and made scene to get his $15.00 change went outside to loudly warn all the customers to check their pump if they're paying cash. He also stayed for a bit longer to inform arriving customers of the situation. Conclusion: Poor bedside manner, aka deplorable, dismissive customer treatment Poor communication skills Possibly engaged in criminality by cutting the pump off short before it reaches the value of cash tendered. read more

This company is a certified STAR smog test station. A sign at the front of the premises advertises Smog Check $29.95, but I was charged $60. The invoice says Smog check $51.75 and Certificate $8.25. When I asked about the difference between the $29.95 on the sign and $51.75 on the invoice, the technician said there was a charge for the call to the DMV which was $4 or $5, he couldn't tell me which and he couldn't explain the remaining discrepancy between the advertised price and the price on the invoice. This company is engaging in false advertising. And the gas prices are lower at another Valero on El Camino several blocks to the east. read more

They are always kind and friendly to me. It's a family operated business and they are always respectful and courteous. They even helped me pump gas when my arm was healing from a surgery. I'm in a cast and on crutches. Had to swap out my license plates at the DMV around the corner. Pulled into this place needing to have my plates removed and new ones put on. Not able to do myself. This Valero Service Station on El Camino real near Lawrence Expressway used to be full of cars being repaired, now it is empty for a reason. I feel they charge too much. A tire repair which takes one minute it is $30.00. Used to be $10.00 but no more. For this price I would expect they would inspect the tire completely but did not do so. Later when I checked they put 50 pounds of pressure when the tire should be inflated to 35. Also the garage manager looks tense and unfriendly probably because of lack of business. He feels since everything is more expensive he should also triple his prices, but may not realize that most people in the area do not make more than before and are on a limited budget. Note that the gas station attendant has nothing to do with the service station and he is polite and kind. The service station has to be sold to someone with the proper attitude and aware that his prices have to be on the low side to be affordable. I am also suspicious as to their technical ability but I have not done significant repairs there. read more

This is the neighborhood station that I have been using for 18 years. Although the station is dirty and the windshield washing water and squeegees are always filthy, it is conveniently near my home. Recently they installed new gas pumps. The credit card payment system on these new pumps are frustrating to use. The operators have even taped handwritten special instructions on the card slot. Incompetent crooks IMHO. I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. Upon rotating the tires the mechanic said I need to replace my brakes as soon as possible. I took my car to my regular mechanic who found that the guy had stripped three of five lug nuts on the front right side. The brake pads were worn to about 1/3" which means that there was no real urgency for replacement. The guy was just trying to drum up another $200 in business. I'm glad I didn't take him up on it. Now I'm worried about the rear lug nuts and who knows if he did a competent job on the oil change? DON'T GO HERE! This place sucks! I came here to get my brakes done and found out they did not need replacing but were squealing a little. I bought a used car from a guy who was the only owner and took pretty good care of the car, but I heard squealing and that means change the brake pads... So nice of him to charged me $20 just to check that.... Then he said he would "resurface" the roter to stop the squealing which was $80 but after I talked to a friend he said he probably just put some squeal stop on them if the brakes were fine, cuz guess what a week later, the baby squeal is lurking! I broke my passenger side mirror off coming out of my carport because I parked to close to the pole and asked the mechanic about fixing it...he said ok, he could order a black one and replace and I would have to have it painted somewhere else fine the quote I got from the dealer was 3 times what I paid him... Fine my car is burgundy, I just wanted the mirror fixed. I get there to pick up my car and the mirror is grey, like bright grey... ok its primered but black would have been less awkward looking, I suppose if it was black... and of course when I returned to pick up my car, he was gone and the attendant helped me.. I'm so mad at myself for even going to this place... I just feel ripped off... Stay away from the auto repair shop. they cheated me big time. The guy said they charge 40$ and if car fails the test, then they do 1 free test within 15 days. He charged me 40$ and said they aborted the test due to some fault in car. When they abort the test, they are not supposed to charge me and he was asking 90$ to check what is the fault. (90$ for the inspection + repair costs) I took car to my friend and he repaired that fault for no cost within 10 minutes. We have lot of options in and around El camino if these guys keep cheating customers, they will shut their doors soon. read more

I came here for smog check. The guy told me to get the engine check too because the check light was on. I am not sure if it was before. Anyways, he said that the diagnosis will cost me $90.00 and the smog test, $55.00. I agreed as he made it sound like an emergency. After the diagnosis he told me that the transmission has to be replaced. Then he came down to oil change & something something & gave the estimate of $560.00 along with the 90 + 55. When I said no, he agreed on giving me a discount of the $90 for diagnosis. I said no so he charged me $ 136.15 for diagnosis and smog check. What a waste of time and money! read more
