We had never been here, but found it on Yelp and decided to stop by. Tucked away in a corner, it might be easily missed if it weren't for the festive patio decor. Patio and indoor dining options. Handmade ceramic mugs available in the entry. We were promptly offered our choice of window tables. We each ordered a burrito, and enjoyed the freshly made verde salsa as we waited. The Al pastor was delightful. He recommended the wet burrito for our next visit. Great food and beer, we look forward to visiting again. read more

Valenz Mexican Kitchen - Regular burrito with Al Pastor - Tacos Near Me - Cameron Park, California

My go to is Chile Rellano & Carne Asada burrito (pictured) or Surf & Turf (shrimp) burrito. The Surf & Turf has a grilled cheese tortilla that takes the burrito to the next level of amazing! Next time I'm going to ask if they can do grilled cheese to any burrito. The burritos have a good ratio of meat, beans & rice. Some restaurants load up on rice & beans and skimp on the meat; not this place! If you're in the mood for a burrito, this place is a must try!!! read more

We truly appreciate Valenz Mexican Kitchen and their wonderful restaurant, food truck, and catering services. El Dorado Hills is fortunate to have such an excellent local business. Valenz catered our son's wedding rehearsal dinner at our home, serving approximately 40 guests. They set up on our deck, and the presentation was fantastic. Their personal service was outstanding, and we especially loved how warmly they interacted with everyone. They instantly became part of the celebration. Our guests enjoyed personalized service featuring tacos, burritos, beans, fresh salads, and custom sauces. Everything was delicious, well organized, and beautifully presented. The breakdown and cleanup were flawless. We could not have been more pleased and only wish we had another reason to do it all over again. As summer winds down, anyone looking for a catering option for a wedding, family gathering, or neighborhood party should strongly consider Valenz Mexican Kitchen. read more

1 star since I can't leave 0. Went for my grandmothers birthday on Sunday, April 12th at 5:45 PM, we pull up and the sign on the door says closed. I get out and confirm the hours on the door say "Sunday 11 AM - 8 PM." Yet they were closed with no signs or information of why. If you're going to be closed at a time you say you're open, at least put up a sign saying why. Ridiculous. read more

I have lived in this area for so long and I just discovered this place. I had lunch there today and I enjoyed eating the Asada Quesadilla. My bride Valerie had one too. The family owns this is the Valenzuela family and they are incredible. There sons all serve in the restaurant and they are kind and considerate. They specialize in Sinaloa Mexivam food Mazitlan and it is great. For instance my Quesdilla was fried with the cheese and it was amazing. The ambiance is warm and friendly and there is plenty of parking which I am always a person that looks for easy access. They have an outdoor eating area which probably is not to popular on real warm days because there is no cover. The restaurant could use a facelift whioch they said they were in the middle of doing some things but it was very clean. I am coming back to this place and I love the spirit of hospitality that exits here. read more

A definite must if you're in the mood for amazing Mexican food! Found this place via Yelp, and the reviews other people have written convinced me to give it a try. Wow, I am so happy I did so! What I love about this place is that it's family owned and ran, the food is great, and the pricing is fair. I know not everybody might not be a fan of the decor inside, but I loved it. It's bright, colorful, and cheerful on the restaurant side; then on the bar side, there's sports memorabilia. It's definitely a casual vibe, which is totally my scene. I was greeted immediately upon entering, placed my order to go, and sat back and waited. I was then handed my food by who I believe was the owner, and he was so friendly and nice. I let him know that it was my first time, and I came because of Yelp reviews. He then probably pointed out these awesome awards the restaurant has been winning that I had not seen before previously on the wall in the bar area. Let me tell you, once I got home and tasted the food this restaurant produced, they deserve every single award. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and the surf and turf burrito. Within the burrito, I chose steak to go along with the shrimp. When I got home and unwrapped the food, I was not prepared for the size of everything! I could only eat half of the burrito and the quesadilla, and I'm saving the rest for my lunch tomorrow! Long review, but this place is worth it. This is going to be my go-to place for Mexican food in the area from now on. read more

This past May, the Valenzuela family expanded their food truck and catering business and opened up a brick n mortar restaurant in Cameron Park. It's called Valenz Mexican Kitchen. They specialize in Sinaloa Mexican food . It's a sit down restaurant with a family friendly vibes. The menu is compact for now with intentions to expand. The street tacos are tasty. Taste like home cooking. I dropped in on a lazy Sunday afternoon and sat at the bar. The bar had several TVs with various NFL games on. We ordered Mexican cokes in a bottle as well as bottle Jarritos to quench our thirst. Food wise, we ordered street tacos as well... steak and carnitas. The meats were tender and had nice simple flavors. They also serve complimentary chips and salsa. The chips had the look and taste of store bought chips but that salsa. The salsa was darn tasty, fantastic flavors. read more

Super chill vibe. Very friendly and accommodating service. Food was so tasty, I ate way too much. Their tortilla chips are amazing.

Bright and colorful Mexican restaurant that has gluten free burritos! My BF is GF so I'm always on the lookout to see which restaurants and bakeries offer GF products. It was the first time he has had a burrito ($15 w/o sour cream and cheese) at a Mexican restaurant in years. While I did not try the GF tortilla, the BF said that it is was amazing and held its shape. This alone has brought us back at least twice in the past month. While Valenz does not charge extra for the GF option, I'm always ordering something as well so it was a smart move on their part having this on their menu. I have tried their carnitas and al pastor street tacos ($4) and I have to say that I prefer the al pastor. Prices are on par with the area however I think it would help to have some music in the background to add to the festive ambiance. read more

3.5 stars I have seen so much talk on social media about Valenz and finally had a chance to try it! We ate in on a weekday slightly early for lunch and it wasn't busy. Just 2 other tables. The first thing I noticed was the restaurant looked dirty and old. The chairs were out of date and had visible lint on them which I though was odd. The carpeted floors also had debris on it as well and needed vacuuming. This made me wonder if I was going to regret eating here. We sat down and the owner greeted us with a menu right away. He came back soon after and we ordered waters and our food order. Meanwhile another couple came in and were seated close to us so I could hear them talking to the owner. The owner proceeded to give them so much attention and answer their questions and ignored us. After about 10 minutes I had to flag him over and ask for our waters which he admitted he poured but forgot to bring them over... He was very nice, but he left us feeling like we were not valued and wishing we got the kind of attention the table next to us was receiving! They hadn't been in before just like us but there was something about them (maybe because they ordered beers?) that he was focused solely on them. THEN, I heard him speak to his partner who was making the food that the burrito was supposed to be wet... So.... without saying anything to us we waited a good 10-15 minutes before we received our food and the other couple who came in after us was served their food before us and finished just after we got ours. There was no acknowledgment to any of this and it was frustrating. So... we get our food and IT WAS KILLER!!! I had the wet burrito with chicken and my partner had the shrimp burrito with shrimp. We loved it!! My wet burrito had so much cheese on top plus some inside and I love that! It was giant and had a lot of meat as well, yay! I noticed rice on there but not beans, same with the shrimp burrito. Not sure what happened to the beans but I was happy with the food. read more

Holy smokes. I had been wanting to try this place for years and finally decided to go for it. I called in an embarrassingly large order (it was for multiple people, I swear), and the owner was very patient with me. I then rolled in to get said order in pajamas (work party, I swear), and they never once made me feel uncomfortable. In fact, the owner introduced me to his wife and son. So it was already five stars before I even got to the food. I got home and unpacked everything, and the portions are HUGE. I ordered the veggie tacos and veggie burrito, and it is easily 4-6 meals worth of food. Easily. Other members of my family ordered the chile relleno, and said it was one of the best they have ever had. And since my mom lived in Mexico, that is a ringing endorsement. The al pastor was also superb, as were the steak tacos. And the wet burrito. Dear Lord, the wet burrito. You could use that thing as a dumbbell and do bicep curls with it. It is massive and delicious. This place is a definite visit if you are in Cameron Park. Seriously, run, don't walk, to try this place. read more

Valenz continues to be a favorite of ours. All of the food is homemade from family recipes and the portions are generous! They've now started making their chips in the house and the hot green salsa is to die for. In a good way! Homemade bread, pudding and homemade cornbread are also on the available, but you have to ask because she does sell out of those. Remember that a small family run restaurant or even sometimes bigger restaurants, will run out of food when it is freshly made if demand is high. They're not going to pull yesterday's leftovers out of the fridge, it's all made fresh daily! I don't take pictures of my food when I'm enjoying it so you'll have to go try it for yourself! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. read more

3 out of 5 stars We were excited to try this local spot, but the experience ended up being a mixed bag. There's definitely heart behind the operation, but the execution in both food and service needs some refinement. When we walked in, we were greeted by a young teenage host--seemingly the owner's son--who appeared from behind the bar and asked if we were dining in or ordering to-go. When we said we were eating in, he simply walked off and pointed vaguely to a table. It was an awkward, unwelcoming start. The chips that came out were clearly store-bought, which was disappointing, and the salsa, while flavorful, came in a very small portion. We ordered three different burritos, and unfortunately, all three had undercooked rice - noticeably crunchy throughout. Other than the undercooked rice, the el pastor burritos were very flavorful and the portions were large! When the owner stopped by to check on how everything was, he had such an intense and expectant presence that it didn't feel like an honest answer would go over well. We got the sense criticism wouldn't be received constructively, so we stayed quiet. During our meal, we overheard the owner venting to another table about how the restaurant's Facebook account had supposedly been hacked and how people weren't paying for or picking up their orders. It felt a bit too personal and unfiltered for a dining atmosphere. Overall the experience was uneven and occasionally uncomfortable. Three stars for effort and good intentions, but there's room for improvement. read more

I read reviews and was hyped up by the videos and pictures this place posted, but I was utterly disappointed with the food. It was bland and priced like it was gourmet, but instead was subpar. The absolute BEST Mexican food around!!! Family owned by wonderful people. Tonight we have two wet burritos. One was a Chile Relleno w/ El Pastor, and the other a Carnitas. If you're looking for truly authentic Mexican food made with heart and heritage, Valenz Family Kitchen is the place to go. This family-owned restaurant is a rare find--warm, welcoming, and absolutely packed with bold, traditional flavors that take you straight to the heart of Mexico. As someone who lived in Southern California for years--where great Mexican food is around every corner--I can confidently say Valenz stands shoulder to shoulder with the best of them. Every dish we tried tasted homemade, like something lovingly prepared in a family kitchen (just like the name promises). From the perfectly seasoned meats to the rich, vibrant salsas, you can tell this food is made with pride and experience. The family behind the restaurant couldn't be more genuine or friendly. You feel like you're being welcomed into their home the moment you step inside. If I had to offer any minor feedback, it would simply be for the staff to check in a little more often for drink refills. But honestly, the food more than makes up for it--and it's a small thing in an otherwise phenomenal dining experience. Valenz Family Kitchen is a local treasure. Don't walk--run! You won't regret it! read more

1st visit, we we're greeted by Antonio (owner/operator), a quick history background on the family, Valenz restaurant, food truck and catering. We've been largely disappointed across much of El Dorado County Mexican foos aside from a few gems. Valenz menu from shrimp tacos/quesadilla, street tacos al pastor, and carnitas were a hit across the board. Homemade salsas 3 variations were each highly rated!! Mexican cornbread is NOT to be missed, way full? NP, order two to take home! No joke. Great food, service, decor and a very personal influence from the owner team. We will be back. read more

I just had lunch here and it was excellent! The service was awesome - friendly, helpful and attentive without being overbearing. The chips were thick and crispy which I liked - salsa was very good. I ordered a carnitas torta ($16) and it was one of the best I've had. Giant, tender meat, with beans! A lot of places don't put beans in torta but that is always my preference. They don't have an alcohol license right now but signage indicates they're working on it. Prices are not cheap, but nothing is these days. I am happy to support these guys with all my taco money, and hope they stick around. read more

First time in 12 years I've been able to have a legitimate burrito since becoming gluten free and they are INCREDIBLE. The restaurant is such a vibe inside, very festive and clean. I cannot recommend Valenz Mexican Kitchen enough for anyone living with celiac disease. We are always hesitant to eat out due to my daughter's severe celiac, but the staff here made us feel completely safe. The owner was knowledgeable and immediately informed me cross-contamination protocols. The owner herself made her order, used dedicated cooking tools, prepared her food separately, and personally hand delivered her order to ensure it was safe. It is rare to find a place that truly understands and respects the need for a gluten-free environment. My daughter had a delicious, safe meal on a class field trip and we left happy and pain-free. You must try their wet burrito. I've never had anything like it. It's a family-owned restaurant that is what is needed in CP

The staff was very friendly and courteous, and they were very attentive to making sure I enjoyed my dining experience. The food was outstanding. I ordered an El Diablo Burrito (which the menu said in all caps: " ORDER AT YOUR OWN RISK), and my server even cautioned me it would be hot, so she let me order a regular burrito with a side of El Diablo salsa (which I think they said is homemade).
