I was hung over so I came to pick up tamales and menudo for me and my cousins on a Sunday morning. lol bad choice cuz it was sooooo packed but thankfully the line went quick. The tamales here are so good I only go for the green Chile con queso kind and my fam always goes for the red tamales. I've tasted those and they are also pretty good. The menudo on a Sunday morning is really good too. It's super hot and fresh. So this place is typically a bakery but they do sell really good food. There isn't really many tables to eat inside but it's always good for takeout. Oh and the pan dulce is so gooood too!! Definitely coming back again for tamales :) enjoy my pics!! read more

I love this place on a Sunday morning. As soon as you walk in it smells like comfort and brings back my childhood memories. The red tamales are moist and perfectly seasoned (mild). The pan dulce is superb with my favorites pumpkin empanada and apple fitters. We all know why we come here though, it's the menudo. It never disappoints. The meat is red, so you know it was just thrown together. The perfect ratio of carne to hominy. It's spicy but I love it. Comes with onion, oregano, a lime wedge, chili flakes and a two pan Blanco's (white bread rolls). The service is always A+, even with over 20 people waiting in line every Sunday, I never wait more than 10 mins to order and receive my food. read more

My favorite thing here is the piedras. I loooove them! They are giant and delicious. Great price too! My sister loves the bean burritos and claims their flour tortillas are the best. It is one of the best bakeries in El Paso. The best thing is that they are open until 9 pm but the kitchen closes earlier. People are always nice and pleasant. read more

Ordered via DoorDash...ordered a dozen (12) tortillas but only got 10. I called to complain and the guy that answered said 'everyone complaints about that but it's only 10 not 12.' Best barbacoa burritos ever! We tried Valentine's Bakery for the first time today and had a great experience. I ordered 2 burritos, 1 barbacoa burrito and 1 breakfast burrito with eggs, chorizo, potatoes, & beans, and we shared a few of the baked goods. My favorite part of the meal was by far the barbacoa burrito - it was the best one I've ever had! The meat was tender, juicy, & flavorful. The breakfast burrito was definitely above average in quality, but I wasn't as excited about it as I was the barbacoa burrito. In terms of pastries, we ordered a chocolate iced donut with yellow cream / pudding in the middle and an apple fritter, which were both fresh & delicious. We also got $1 worth of their small cookies coated in powdered sugar. These little sweets were so tasty and a great deal for the price! I will for sure add them to my order next time as well. We already can't wait to come back to Valentine's Bakery for more burritos and sweet treats in the future! read more

Who's ready to get sick for the holidays? My elderly mother tried to talk to management about the issue and they kept insisting that the tamales just had to cool off. They kept refusing to give back her money for the raw tamales. Finally they gave her back the money for 11 tamales. They said because she opened this tamale (shown below) and now it's incomplete. When I was a kid my mom and aunties would get menudo from here on sundays. I remember there was always a line of people out the door, everyone holding an empty pot. Fast forward to adult me and although I don't get menudo from here I do love their burritos. Their barbacoa is amazing by the way! I love it when they send the toppings without even having to ask. My boyfriend always gets picadillo no matter where we order from and this is his favorite by far. It's nice to know that they are still standing after so many years and honestly can't help but feel a little nostalgic every time i do order from here. On January 10,2020 they overcharged me $131.19 out of my debit account. They said they would fix it. I have reached out to the owners (Miguel and Yolanda) 4 times they will not return my call. They robbed me - period. Ok - I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Of El Paso. The BBB has tried several times to reach out to the owners. The owners have also refused the respond to the BBB. So, as of 02- 25-2020 they still have my money. Petty thievery! Oh man did I miss this place. Used to come here as a kid but since I moved to San Antonio I haven't been back in 5 years. Recently stopped by while I was visiting and everything tasted like it did when I was a kid!!!! Their sweet bread is authentic, amazing and defiantly in my top 2 in town!!!!Their tamales are top 3 in El Paso, I always get the red pork tamales!!! Their flour tortillas are some of the freshest, softest and mouth watering in town. i have just had my third issue with this valentines on picasso st. , yesterday went and bought 1/2 doz tortillas and only got 5, same thing happened two weeks ago. one month ago with my doz tamales there was two hairs on one around three inches long, black hair. my neighbor said she stop buying because of same issues there. tried to complaint yesterday but the staff just kept on hanging up the phone yesterday. called 8 times and four times they hung up on me so gave up trying to speak to owner or management. they are just horrible at times with customer service and not paying attention. read more

So this time I ordered a brisket burrito & since they preheat the tortillas by the time I got my burrito my tortilla was hard, usually it's a soggy burrito but this time the brisket was extremely dry! The first time They were out of Chile rellano but didn't tell us until the taco guy stated making the burrito. So we had to get a refund and left since nothing else was veggie for my husband and he didn't want a baked good. Second time they did have it and my sister got a breakfast burrito and a cinnamon roll. Definitely not my favorite bakery or burrito place in town but it was nearby and quick. I absolutely love the burritos here. However, I don't 2 stars for sanitary purposes. The people who are cooking the burritos don't wear gloves so they are touching the food and seasoning then touching the handles to the utensils they cook with. I saw one lady grab raw meat then turn right around and grab raw vegetables and then touch the door to the fridge where the meat is stored and never washed her hands. There is all kinds of risk for contamination. Once again the food is excellent however, taking a big risk at contamination and getting people sick. I hope this is taken into consideration. read more

It's a bakery that makes their own pan dulce (Mexican pastries) and burritos, tortas, menudo, and barbocoa! FYI, the staff seems to ONLY SPEAK SPANISH. Hence, before you get here, you better brush your Spanish up! Hahaha, well, I didn't, but the staff can still def get what you're saying/point to what you want and how much you want. I honestly didn't ask them what each of the items on their burrito menu were in English and just looked them up myself on my phone. But yeah, feel free to check out my picture of the burrito/torta menu of what items/meats they offer and see what they are ahead of time if you're not as savvy with Spanish as I apparently am! :) I came here twice to try different things. The first time was to try their donuts, since I was craving some really good donuts, and Mexican bakeries tend to make them pretty good. I wasn't too adventurous, so I only got a churro and a basic chocolate donut with a bavarian creme filling in the middle. My churro was not so good, of which it was very dry. Although, my chocolate donut came out pretty darn delicious--soft, slightly moist, and with a nice surprise in the middle :). Interestingly, they have a bunch of different Mexican pan dulce. What I did not order but am curious to try next time is their pumpkin empanada. Interesting, eh? Yup. On my to-eat list! The second time I came here was for their burritos. Read rave reviews about them here on Yelp, so I decided to try it. They are actually quite small and skinny, but surprisingly only came with your meat of choice, in my case, was brisket. There was nothing else in the burrito except the meat and a minuscule amount of diced green bell pepper. Don't expect their burritos to be fully loaded (guac, lettuce, tomatoes, etc) from here. It's pretty much Mexican style, with just two things inside: meat of your choice, and bell peppers maybe. They also give you this pretty spicy, but delicious, salsa to go with it. My burrito experience was OK, since I am used to the Mexican-American version. I LOVE that they make their own tortillas and make them FRESH for your burrito. Anyway, burritos are hella cheap...around $2.33-$3.25. NEXT TIME: Def want to try their torta with colita de pavo (crispy turkey tail). This comes fully loaded! $4.50 each. Can't wait! read more
