This is a great venue…read more The Knockdown Center is an old factory that's been repurposed into a streamlined place to see live music, with little extraneous nonsense. It's quick and easy to get through security, and they provide lockers if you don't want to hold all your stuff through the show. It's massive. It must be 10,000 square feet. Which means that while it will get packed up by the stage and some overly aggressive dude might try and fight you for trying to get back to your friends, but if you hang back there will be plenty of room to dance and chill and drink and talk and enjoy the show. There are multiple bars (efficient) where the drinks, while not cheap, could probably be worse. (I don't know about food, as I didn't see any.) Most importantly, the sound is incredible. Right by the stage, or all the way at the back of the main room, my face was melted. I had the pleasure of catching LCD Soundsystem here, and despite the pain it is to get here from where I live, I'll gladly come back for another show.

The Flowers from Nyssa such a lovely, sweet touch!…read more Okay rented this lovely, cozy space for Sexual Assault Awareness Month Event. The event went smoothly! I would recommend to any charity looking for decent budget space. It was a smaller cozy place, good for less than 60 people standing including 20 people or so sitting. The venue was safe and clean space for us to use. It was easy to setup and put things back when it was time. On to the owner of the space -- I felt that Nyssa, went above and beyond to make sure the event was a success! She was helpful with all details, prompt and great to work with. She is a very kind and down to earth person who cared about our efforts in this event. In the future I hope to host another SAAM event. Of course, if need to a venue like this again, being it's not booked up. Nyssa's The Living Art Gallery will be my go and the main place I'd ever recommend to anyone in need of a venue. Thank you Nyssa!!!

This multi-funtional space holds a variety of classes and special events. I attended one of their…read more"Drink and Draw" classes - Two hours of drawing instruction with a live nude model and three glasses of wine! A class of Picassos in the making depending on how quickly you take the glasses down :) Unfortunately the model did not show, but we were given a clothed model instead which was fine by me as a beginner. All supplies were included, paper, coal, pencils, pastels etc and it was a really fun, welcoming environment. The best part was that later that night, unbeknownst to us, there was an open mic planned with incredibly talented spoken word poets, rappers, etc. We stayed the whole night and were so inspired! Very cool!

I was texted at 5:00 am in the Morning. When I responded asking for more photos I was ignored and ghosted. Most of business who have not interest in moving forward have the decency to turn you down. There pis not integrity or accountability. You would think owning a business this long they would have some type of humanity and a bit of integrity especially working with Artist. Most of us struggle financial and havping connection with Artist it would make since.

They are always working to consistently improve the space. The studios are affordable and the common spaces are clean, well kept and organized. The community is respectful and familial! Art, scotch, beer, music…read more No I'm not listing my favorite things. (Though those are on my list) I'm talking about all the things you can experience at "East Williamsburg's" (This place is in Bushwick) latest and greatest art gallery. First lets talk about the space. HUGE! Lots of art galleries I've been to are quite small and compact. Here, there is tons of room to mingle, walk around and maybe even break out into an impromtu dance party. (Yes, it happened) The design is great. It has a great feel and vibe for the art on display here. It's mostly street art with a message. The opening gallery, which was "Hi, my Name Is...", went well with the designs on the wall. The gallery had sponsors supporting it with some drinks and food. When I was there they had a scotch sponsor on hand. They also had some small bites to eat and beers for the taking. Music was great, they had several DJ's on site performing till close. It kept everyone energetic and upbeat. As mentioned it may have sparked a dance party or two. The owners even gave out some free art pieces for the first bunch of patrons that night. I imagine they'll be doing more gimmicks like that in the future. This is sure to become my new go to spot when checking out the art scene and with the lineup they have for upcoming events, I'm going to be back for sure.

Wouldn't you know it? A legitimate artist's studio of an accomplished painter and printmaker, right…read morehere in Sunnyside, Queens. Oh wait, the openings are amazing and intimate, potluck style food (donation encouraged) and there are live music performances to boot? That's already a reason to stop by, however, once you go there, your start to realize that the art and artists are accomplished and serious (but like to party too). I ended up spending time there and loving the atmosphere and people. Good stuff Ged (the proprietor). Keep at it. Support art and buy. It's very affordable.
