    Wedding Reception at Invisible Dog
    Sarah P.

We had our wedding (for 125 guests) here in late October 2012, and we feel incredibly lucky that we found Lucien and The Invisible Dog. We used the back gallery on the first floor for our ceremony (plus the rest of the first floor for a cocktail hour), and the open third floor for the reception. Both spaces are gorgeous, with tons of windows, and we had the freedom to do whatever we wanted to set up and decorate - around the exhibit on the first floor, of course (which was super super cool). With 125 people, the third-floor space felt absolutely huge - we had space for a photobooth in a nook in one corner, a big bar and buffet table, a 6-piece band, and a large dance floor. Lucien was really generous with his time - he was available anytime we needed him before, during, and after the event, including multiple visits from our family in NY with long lists of questions leading up to the wedding, and a lot of hours on the day of the wedding. Getting married here means handling a lot of logistics, but if you want your wedding to really be your own, and to be about as low-budget as is possible in Brooklyn but still look spectacular, this is your place. Please don't pay too much attention to the earlier reviews talking about the space being too warm, as Lucien has installed a cooling system since then. He is super responsive to figuring out what people need for the space to work, and I think he's done it.

Just attended a classy wedding in this amazing, rustic/urban event space. Wow. Seriously stylish, with a lovely back garden to boot!

The Flowers from Nyssa such a lovely, sweet touch!…read more Okay rented this lovely, cozy space for Sexual Assault Awareness Month Event. The event went smoothly! I would recommend to any charity looking for decent budget space. It was a smaller cozy place, good for less than 60 people standing including 20 people or so sitting. The venue was safe and clean space for us to use. It was easy to setup and put things back when it was time. On to the owner of the space -- I felt that Nyssa, went above and beyond to make sure the event was a success! She was helpful with all details, prompt and great to work with. She is a very kind and down to earth person who cared about our efforts in this event. In the future I hope to host another SAAM event. Of course, if need to a venue like this again, being it's not booked up. Nyssa's The Living Art Gallery will be my go and the main place I'd ever recommend to anyone in need of a venue. Thank you Nyssa!!!

A class of Picassos in the making depending on how quickly you take the glasses down :) Unfortunately the model did not show, but we were given a clothed model instead which was fine by me as a beginner. All supplies were included, paper, coal, pencils, pastels etc and it was a really fun, welcoming environment. The best part was that later that night, unbeknownst to us, there was an open mic planned with incredibly talented spoken word poets, rappers, etc. We stayed the whole night and were so inspired! Very cool!

Could there really be a space focused on such a specific event, and how do you even get enough pieces to make it a complete museum? However, my curiosity made me want to check out THNK1994, and I was really glad I did. My sister and I went with my nephew, and I will admit that this place may seem lame if you didn't grow up knowing about this 1994 Olympic scandal. We tried to make our excitement contagious, but he could not be bothered. However, we enjoyed seeing the tabloid covers, memorabilia, and artwork inspired by the Harding/Kerrigan kerfuffle. There was one floor each dedicated to both skaters, and it was fun talking to the owners about the inspiration behind the museum. The museum also has rotating exhibits: when I was there, they had a Real Housewives-inspired show. It's a kitschy, campy place that is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a unique experience!

So I can't speak on the coffee here.* But I do a lot of work out of coffee shops, and I have to say that Clover's might be my favorite. The space is beautiful, clean and inviting. The service is almost TOO nice, and my chai latte was completely delicious. I wish the seating was a bit more conducive to work; the tables hold my laptop and not much more, but they have plugs at nearly every seat, and a ledge on the right that can hold more than a few people. Also, the classical music being pumped in is so much more relaxing, not to mention more conducive to work, than the punk, metal, indie whatever that you usually encounter at coffee shops. I think I am going to spend a lot of time here. _________ *Except to say that my companion raved about his Clover coffee, so if that's what you are interested in, I think they've got you covered.

Art gallery meets café, serving up contemporary classical music and Intelligentsia Clover coffee?…read more Yes, please! Any joint that's willing to drop the multiple thousands of dollars for a Clover machine is a joint that I immediately presume to take their coffee seriously. That they use Intelligentsia roaster's products just solidifies that stance. There's something so -utterly- hipster and nose-upturning about sipping on a deliciously-brewed cuppa while cranking away on my Macbook, facing an exposed brick wall, sitting under an undoubtedly pricey cloth papier-mâché sculpture. I even got asked to step outside while making a phone call by another patron... which I was more than happy to do. Seriously. People talk to each other here, even if it's just to call each other out. Quality. Yes, folks. This is Brooklyn. And I have arrived.
