Impressed with this place. We stopped by on a Monday before noon. They said they were short staffed (they were interviewing 5 chefs that day) so we appreciated the heads up. We weren't in a rush so we enjoyed the view while we sipped our two flights. We got both of the Spanish flights and liked most of the wines. These wines are from Spain so they are very different than fruit forward Washington wines. Most of the wines were very nice, a little higher price point than most as well. They were out of one of the Spanish wines in my flight so I went with the 17 Klipsun Syrah and was blown away. This wine is very nice for a 17, I cannot wait to try their next vintage. Also tried their charcuterie board which was delicious and well priced. The rest of the tapas are a fair price as well. Full disclosure: I am used to Seattle prices so I though they were fine. Our visit to Valdemar was an absolute delight, from the gorgeous, inclusive architecture and interior design, to the lovely views, the exceptional service (which included a server with a great sense of humor and a table visit by the chef), truly delicious food, and--you guessed it--some outstanding wine offerings. We recommend you getting two flights to sample Valdemar's range of offerings, the Estate Wines and the Bodegas (Spanish wines). We found something exceptional in each. The Cabernet Sauvignon is top-notch, though a bit pricey. (Still, we couldn't leave without four bottles.) On the Spanish side, the Conde Valdemar Reserva is stunning. We were less impressed by the Gran Reserva, though it was still quite good. Our flights were paired with Spanish tortillas, cured meats, and a cheese platter--perfect for tasting the wine offerings. Something we deeply appreciated was the inclusive nature of the business, which goes out of its way to accommodate people with needs. We really found that heartwarming. We'll definitely be back to Valdemar! read more

Beautiful location wines just so so. I'm a red fan and didn't like any of the ones I tried. The Spanish white was pretty good for a crisp summer white. Price was a bit over the top 45-75 a bottle seemed steep to me. read more

Wow! Wow! Wow! Highlight of my trip to Walla Walla. My hubby had the Spanish flight and I enjoyed the Syrah flight. The decor was beautiful, spectacular view, amazing service, and I don't know if I liked the tapas or the wine better. The Valdemar Estates are amazing. The wine is exquisite and and the location is amazing. My hold back on 5 stars was our server. He was rude, put out by us, and required several comments from us before he behaved decently. And got zero tip. Our driver mentioned that this server had caused issues in the past which is disappointing. I think this place is awesome. Just need staff who won't tell us it's off-putting to order a flight. Food was really good, though I expected a few more warm Spanish options, like: Albondigas, Gambas al Ajillo and Patatas Bravas. A welcome sign "Bienvenidos a España" at the lower entrance would be a nice addition, as it feels a bit cold and overwhelming. Excited to see this place mature, and add some Walla Walla produce and local wines in addition to the Spanish heritage. read more

Excellent food. Average wine. Mediocre service. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated by a fairly rude man (reddish hair) who seemed bothered that he had to stop what he was doing. We ordered 3 wine flights and didn't love anything enough to buy a bottle. The food was absolutely delicious. Our server was adequate, not overly friendly, but efficient and we did not feel rushed. Beautiful venue with a view of the Blue Mountains. This is an ultra modern tasting room. They serve Tapas along with the food; however the selection is very modest. The wines for tasting are ok. However, the service was sub par with very little attention to describing the tasting notes. The venue was noisy and not hospitable at all. The only positive was the view. Far too noisy with very little service. The staff would benefit from hospitality training. They had only been open for 4 weeks and this is may have been a factor in our experience. We were really excited about this winery, but honestly the experience with the waiter was horrible. He was very rude to us. We had someone in our group that was celebrating a birthday and we were told when we booked the reservation that the birthday girl would get a special treat (aka their cheesecake they are famous for). When we asked about this, the waiter said they were sold out of cheesecake and we asked if we could get anything else and he said no. Overall just not a good experience, and I would definitely avoid this pretentious place in the future and go support more small family owned wineries instead. We were very disappointed in our experience at Valdemar after planning and making reservations a month in advance and calling the day before to ensure our accommodations could be met we arrived with plenty of outdoor seating available but for whatever reason that could not adequately be explained why our group couldn't be seated side by side outside. We tried working with the tasting room manager on our seating and when questioning the availability of our reserved tables she became incredibly hostile and unprofessional, offending several members of our group and rather then continuing to discuss with her shouting at us causing a scene we left. If you are looking for a full wine experience with good customer service and professionalism this is not the place for you. read more

The service was great, the atmosphere was nice, but the amount of food for the cost was poor. We had a group of 9 people and went there for a late lunch. After looking at the menu, we opted for two charcuterie platters and two other meat boards. One person had a glass of wine, but everyone else had water. There was maybe 3 oz of meat total between all the boards. The bill was $100 plus tip. Nothing like the pictures online! read more

The views at Valdemar were spectacular, maybe the best we've seen in Walla Walla! The service was also excellent, with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. My friend and I came here for our joint birthday celebration. We've been friends for more than 20 years and our birthdays are two days apart. Our gracious and wonderful server Mary guided us through the menu and answered all of our persnickety questions about the wines. We had the Spanish olives, pepper tapas, scallops, charcuterie plate and the amazing apple cake with house-made basil ice cream. Every dish was perfect and gorgeously plated. While I can respect our group being on the larger end (7) only four of us were tasting. I cannot accept poor service due to being an "inconvenience".
