New sector 9 board purchased today.
Charlie M.

Longboarding has been my hobby for years and this Val Surf is my go-to for picking up new board equipment. Youre not going to find better boards or a more knowledgeable staff in the Santa Clarita Valley. Everyone is friendly and will be real with you about your expectations. Charles helped me buy this gorgeous Sector 9 board and answered every question I had. Highly recommended. Avoid the competitors.

Old school but still good. Blind.

Been dying to shop at Val Surf and heading to the airport THE GODS heard me and directed my GPS to…read morenavigate me to Val Surf. With the store in my sites I pulled a hard right without rolling the SUV I was driving and parked... Amazing surf shop for goodie , surf boards and skateboards. Grabbed my Val Surf logo sweatshirt and a weird Nike shirt cause it was kick a$$ white with hot pink drawing... Now I explored and found great surf gear from major brands I won't mention but the shoe selection was amazing, especially the VANS. The suede leather Vans were awesome and I desperately wanted a few pairs but I didn't have room in luggage.... As I was walking past UGG's display they had the sand color version and again if I had room I'd bought a pair... Super cool " Dude " handling cashier duty's was awesome. The over the top skateboard decks blew me away located behind him and I only wish I was 12 again so I pester my parents for one... we had a good laugh about age and away I went... NOTE : Speaking of killer items and this wasn't for sale was wooden shoe by Vans with images of old school pro skaters including the "Godfather of pool skating" Mr Tony Alva! For those who don't know him well he was a member of the Zephyr Competition Skateboarding Team, or the Z-Boys.... Can't wait to come back and I'll have a bigger luggage bag for more gear. But needless to say this stop was amazing and worth the wait...

The best in the area! Our son has been taking classes for years, and with Shawn and Mike's…read moreincredible guidance and expertise, he's grown into a really strong skater. Heck, he was even able to skate the bowl within a pretty short period of time. With each lesson and plenty of practice, he continues to improve and build his skills. I saw a complaint about the classes not being suitable for beginners, but I've found that some beginners--like our son--actually benefit more from one-on-one lessons. With any new sport, it can be challenging in a group setting to get the individual attention needed, especially when some kids naturally have better balance or are more comfortable staying focused in a group. Not every child learns the same way, and for some, a more personalized approach makes a big difference. That said, I think the group lessons work really well for most kids--especially those who are just trying to see if they enjoy skating and are comfortable taking direction in a larger group setting. Also, a quick piece of advice--figure out your child's riding stance. From there, get a decent board (it doesn't have to be expensive) and have it set up to match their style. That usually means fine-tuning things like truck tightness, bushing hardness, and deck size so it fits their weight, balance, and preference for stability versus maneuverability. The staff at Val Surf were fantastic in helping us find the right setup for our son. If you can, try to avoid the cheaper boards from big-box stores like Walmart or Target. They're often made with lower-quality materials and aren't properly adjusted for your child's needs. That can actually make learning harder and, in some cases, turn kids off from the sport altogether simply because they're not having a good experience on a poor-quality board.

This school is only for the experienced kids. So disappointed by how the instructor left a child…read morewho was very first time to skate alone in the bowl and kept the class going only for the experienced ones on the first day of the session. Before my child get a chance to learn how to ride the skate property on flat, the class was working on some tricks and skating at the bowl. My child has tripped a lot because he didn't get a chance to learn basics like how to properly stand on the board or how to push the board, and how to fall down safely. Just like any other sports, learning basics is so important and that is exactly why I signed up my child for the class as a beginner instead of just self learn on the street and this school couldn't provide our need. There was no hand to hand lecture, and the instructor doesn't care about the beginner at all. Imagining how scary it was for the little heart for being left alone in the skatepark on the first day just breaks my heart.
