Dr. Lam Nguyen is seriously amazing! I came to see Lam because I was experiencing a lot of tightness around my shoulders. I eventually found out I had other problem areas after my initial assessment with Lam. I have been exercising regularly for the past few years and I never got checked out to release the tension and build up from overworking my muscles. Lam was able to address all the issues I was experiencing. In addition, he goes over everything so not only is he fixing you, but he explains things so that I was able to understand and learn more about my body. He also gave me some training tips which I found to be super helpful. I received the Graston technique. Lam uses a metal instrument to release all the tension and adhesions. You can literally feel all the bumps and popping noises when he uses the Graston technique. That just showed me I was pretty beat up!! It is definitely uncomfortable, but you feel so good afterwards! I am so glad I went to see Lam and I will be going back regularly. After my treatment, I really felt as if a huge weight was lifted off from my shoulders. Most of the reviews on Dr. Lam N were from clients who has been going to VAL for years. I wonder.. do I have to wait a year before I can give a SHOUT OUT and a WHOOT WHOOT to Dr. Lam? Nahh, I just do it now. My back went out 6-7 weeks ago, literally, as I was bending down to pick up something. I searched Yelp for a good Chiro and decided to call VAL Chiropractic. It was wonderful that Dr. Lam opened up a time slot to see me within hours of my call. He knew how much pain I was in and he literally worked on my whole back relentlessly for over an hour! I was there for almost 90 minutes and the poor man was dripping in sweat when he finished fixing my back. That was the first session. I came back weekly and all the weekly sessions are only about 30-40 minutes. *** It is true from some comments how painful the Graston tools are but it is also true how good you will feel afterward. I secretly wish he uses it every time I visit. Bill my insurance and give me more of that good stuff, Doc! Dr. Lam is really cool and easy to talk to. His main goal is to make sure I get back the mobility of my back, not just simply take away the pain. Last week when I showed up, my back felt quite normal. I started seeing Dr. Lam Nguyen a few months ago after having nagging pains in my lower back. I blame it on too many hours spent at the computer. I had never thought to see a chiropractor until a friend suggested the idea. I checked my insurance provider and found that he was one of the chiropractors listed in my network and was able to schedule an appointment for the same day. I was a bit nervous when I first came in because I didn't know what to expect when seeing a chiropractor, but Dr. Nguyen put me at ease right away. He is very friendly and professional and spent a lot of time finding my problem areas as well as troubleshooting. He got out all the knots in my neck and back and I felt so much lighter and relaxed after my adjustment. In addition, he showed me numerous stretches to help prevent my muscles from tightening up as well as exercises to strengthen my back. His times are flexible and he is very efficient with scheduling. I never have to spend time in the waiting room. Dr. Nguyen taught me that you shouldn't wait until you are in pain to see a chiropractor. Preventive care is paramount to your health. Don't expect to be miraculously fixed after one visit to the chiropractor if you have bad habits and posture. I was 35 weeks pregnant when I went to Dr. Lam in late 2009. I had gained 45 pounds and felt like a whale. He was incredibly helpful and I'd highly recommend him for any pregnancy-related back and hip issues. I first came to VAL in need of Dr. Nguyen's expertise about a year ago. I had apparently torn or stretched a muscle or four in my back, turning me into a vegetable for a day. If I sat, stood, or did anything requiring any bit of effort from my back, I'd end up with some intense muscle spasms that usually resulted in me being face down on the floor. At the time, he immediately pinpointed the issue, and a few treatments of the lovely (operative word) Graston Technique, I was as good as new. That said, what I found far more valuable was Dr. Nguyen taking his time to explain the injury, as well as recommend a number of preventative stretches and activities to do so as not to repeat said injury. Needless to say, I heeded his warning. Most recently I've gone in for some mobility issues in my joints exacerbated by my line of work (lots of lifting, pulling etc.) Immediately I was able to use my arm and hand joints in a much larger range than previous, and more importantly, without pain. As usual, he explains throughout the visit what he's doing and why he's doing it, and also thoroughly answers any questions I have (which are usually bountiful.) I've seen a number of different chiropractors, and quite honestly it's been probably a year since I last saw one. I think, sad to say, I just got used to the neck, shoulder aches and tension in my back. My back just sort of got numb to it. It got so bad that when I got a massage, the masseuse would tell me that I'm "too young" to have these sorts of problems as she worked away at the marbles in my neck, shoulders and back! Well, welcome to my world of working 40 hours a week sitting in front of a computer all day long. After hearing my friends Phil and Rose N. rave about Dr. Dave, I decided to give chiropractic one more try. They always seemed so excited whenever they talked about Dr. Dave and their next appointment with him. After talking on the phone and my first visit, Dr. Dave was super cool. He's on the younger side, yet he is also very knowledgable at what he does. He clearly explains and helps you understand what's going on with your body that causes you to have these problems in the first place. As I mentioned earlier, my back was just sort of numb to the pain after all these years, so I was like eh, I'll just go to get a massage and a tune up thinking it wouldn't hurt. During my first visit, he tried different tests and asked "does this hurt?" I was like, "ummm, ouch yes!" He kindly tells me, "that's not suppose to hurt." After his assessment, he begins treating the movements that cause the pain, a different methodology than all the other chiropractors I've seen. It's very much like getting a deep tissue massage in your problem areas as you make those movements, problem areas I didn't even realize I had! Oh let me tell you, Dr. Dave KNOWS! He can tell me before I even have the chance to answer which spots hurt and hurt more than others. It's like telepathy! By the time we finish with tuneups and adjustments, my back feels like I'm 19 years old again. I'd had posture and back problems for a while but never really did anything about it until recently. Dr. Lam Nguyen is the second chiropractor I've tried out and he's great! The first was really dramatic, pushy, and didn't actually give me an adjustment. Dr. Nguyen made me feel at ease about my problems with his explanations and advice. I've had chronic back pain for as long as I can remember -- like extreme back pain every morning. We have a young 10 year old wrestler who hurt his ankle a year prior. He seemed to have healed so we didn't think anything of it. Well, almost a year later, we noticed he started limping on the same ankle he injured, wrestling stance was off and finally he was crying saying it hurt. We did not want to go to his regular doctor, since they will tell us the same thing, ice and rest. My husband looked up chiropractors and Dr. Lam Nguyen came up, best thing is he specializes in sports medicine. We setup an appointment, he examined it and it turned out he had a build up of scar tissue all up his leg. We started treatment to break down the scar tissue, he taped it up and sent us home with a few exercises to help in the process. During the next treatment, he also did some adjustments to his hips and back. After the 2nd treatment, Dr. Lam asked us to have him go back to practice so we can see how he was doing. He did a lot better. After a couple more treatments he was back to normal. He went for a final evaluation and hasn't had to go back anymore. It's always nice visiting a new place finding out they are really experts in their field and they can actually help you. I often only hope that they can help me to a point of norm, but when I get education with it and I learn some new things that I had no clue about it's wonderful. I went in for back injury, but I received education on how to take care of myself so I will not injure myself again and learned that my back problem wasn't just the spine. It was clearly explained to me that sometimes it's the muscle injuries that cause back problems and misalignments. After just a couple of sessions I was already feeling much better. I continue to go to keep getting maintained and feeling healthy. I had gone to a chiropractor before, but I did not truly improve. I was on a cycle of feeling better one week and not so great the next and feeling frustrated. Was referred by my trainer (thank you, Ernie!). The location is quite a haul from where I live/work, but WORTH IT! In fairness, I've only had 1 treatment, and am "a mess" (I believe these were Dr Lam's literal words), but I'm impressed so far and will be back for more! I'm training for my first bikini bodybuilding competition, and have some known mobility issues which - when coupled with a pretty grueling training program - has left me a little broken. The latest is a lower back muscle FREAK OUT which landed me in Dr Lam's office (although the injury was from putting a freakin' grill together, not from anything done in the gym). What impressed me is that Dr Lam knows sports. He knows MY sport. What a relief to "talk shop" with someone who knows what I'm putting my body through right now, and can help me recover and perform. Dr. Lam Nguyen is legit! I've had hamstring problems for a few years, but recently it was so discomforting that I wasn't able to walk or drive at times. I came to Dr. Nguyen and within a week I was already noticing a difference! Dr Nguyen gave the wrong diagnosis!! After evaluating my daughter, he sent her to get an MRI for a popping hip. He said it was probably a serious condition and told her she had to stop all physical activity until the scan was done. Popping hips in the absence of pain are meaningless. If I had listened to this quack, I would have had to take a day off work and incur expenses for an unnecessary scan. He obviously should have studied harder so as to avoid misleading his patients. Luckily, I went to medical school, and could rely on my own knowledge as well as those of three orthopedic surgeon friends in deciding to disregard his diagnosis. Others might not be so fortunate. I urge people to go elsewhere for their health needs. read more

I decided to try VAL Chiropractic after seeing all the great Yelp reviews, plus it's close to my house. For years I've had muscle tightness in my neck, shoulders, and parts of my back, that would cause me to get frequent headaches and often feel tired. I've tried a number of treatments such as physical therapy, acupuncture, yoga, chiropractic adjustments, but nothing had worked to resolved my problem. That is until I decided to try VAL Chiropractic. I went in for an evaluation and Dr. Lam could obviously see that neck and shoulder muscles were very tight and my posture was poor, largely in part because I work a desk job behind a computer. He also evaluated the way I lift at the gym and noticed my form was incorrect, contributing to my problem, and he gave me tips to correct this. He also gave me a few stretches to do to help with my problem. So now on to the treatments... I specified I didn't want to have any adjustments done to my neck since it scares me to hear cracking sounds from that area. Luckily Dr. Lam said that wouldn't be necessary and that he would use a combination of ART (Active Release Technique) and Graston Technique (which uses metal instruments to detect and treat scare tissue). I gotta say the first few treatments were a little painful and I had bruising, but the treatments gradually got less painful, and I started feeling great after. It's been a couple months now and I gotta say, I feel much better and don't have the muscle tightness, have a lot more energy, and I have no longer been experiencing the regular headaches. He really knows what he's doing folks! My only complaint is sometimes I need to wait a bit when arriving on-time and I think due to someone else arriving late. But otherwise that's it. Being how i play a lot of sports and when we were younger we played together, it's great to have a doctor that understand me, how my body works and what i put it through. Being how i play a lot of contact sports i am always banged up. It's not a rush job with him where you come in he does his adjustments and you get the hell out. I am definitely not the most limber guy and he works on stretching me out and showing me new stretches to use to prepare myself. I get my adjustment and if needed a deep tissue massage for my knots. i love how he isn't about rushing me out of the office. The last thing is and more of why i trust him so much. He's the only doctor that is able to tell me something i don't know about my body.
