My first time yesterday, but I plan on returning next month. My barber Buffy is cool and professional. She gave me a great cut. The vibe is "mans cave" or "clubhouse" with a rock-n-roll edge. Their music is good. The staff is warm. The parking is in back. Couldn't be easier to get in and out looking better and feeling relaxed. If you are in Sherman Oaks, Studio City or Valley Village this place is a no-brainer for a haircut or shave. I just can't say enough amazing things about Val Barber! I started get my hair cuts here in Jan 2023, and have been a loyal customer ever since. My usual barber is Rafael..however he is rather popular and high in demand, so my back-up is Brad. They are both wonderful and are extremely skillful with the scissors and clippers. They know how to style and you can tell these gents are experienced and passionate in their work. Their online appointment system makes it very convenient to book a time, cancel, reschedule etc. I wish more hair stylist could adapt to this system, but Val Barber takes the lead and this is why I will continue to remain loyal to them! A typical men's haircut is $45, and I usually ask for a rinse and shampoo after. Parking is extremely generous and you can park directly on Magnolia or the surrounding side streets. There is also soft drinks, snacks and bottled water inside the shop while you wait for your haircut. What more can you ask for?! Thank you Val Barber!! read more

I got my hair cut by José last week and have received so many compliments on it that I am just blown away. I often get haircut anxiety but with José I felt very comfortable as we discussed how I wanted my hair to look and what changes needed to be made. Each barber also has their own Spotify playlist and they take pride in the music that they play in the shop so you know you'll always a have a good vibe going on. Last night I was playing a "get to know you game" and one of the questions was "what do you think ____ gets complimented on the most?" For me, multiple people answered with "his hair." Been going to Rafael for over a year now and he ALWAYS provides a perfect fade/cut... 100% of the time... It has been my experience with past barbers that they give great cuts the first few times and then they become complacent. I prefer Rafael but I've seen the work of the other barbers and they do great work as well. I also like the atmosphere of the space... good music vibes and warm wood tones and colors. I also like that I can make an appointment with whomever I want and not wait for an hour for someone to become available. Not to mention the price... a fair price for exceptional quality. Had an appointment last Thursday (5/26) with Rafa for a hair and beard trim. Walking in, the vibe I got was laid back, but professional, and that bore out in my entire experience. This little shop is one of a kind. At the entrance, you are greeted by a gentle doggo, Buckly (sp?) who serves as the first indicator of the experience you are about to go on when getting your haircut. I seated myself near the door and was almost instantly checked on by one of the available barbers. I was asked about the details of my appointment and waited for Sonny to free up. Another available barber whose station was near where I was seated offered me drinks from the mini-fridge nearby. When it was time for my session with Sonny, we shook hands and went through general introductions. I shared what I was looking for in my haircut and he said he'll be honest with feedback about options that would best suit my requests. During the session, I got the chance to ask Sonny about his history in the industry. If you decide to cut your hair with Sonny, I encourage you to do the same. The stories he shared showed how much he cares for what he does and how much he cares for his team of fellow barbers that are on The Crimson Barbershop journey with him.
