    Valvoline Instant Oil Change

    Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Do not recommend. Went in for an oil change, left with a car maintenance (and customer service)…read moreproblem. After my routine oil change, my car began leaking oil. I returned to the Valvoline later the same day. There was one employee left for the day, even though it was more than an hour before they closed, and he said he wouldn't be able to "do anything" on his own (?) but went below the car to check. He said it was just "frame oil" meaning oil dripped during the change. He said he wiped it up and I should be good. When I woke up the next morning, my car was still leaking oil. My partner took the car in and had them re-do the oil change. He also checked my tire pressure and found one of the tires was almost flat. He asked the Valvoline employees if they checked my tire pressure the day before and they said they did. While Valvoline claims that oil change services include an 18-point maintenance check, which includes tire pressure, my receipt from the day before indicated that the tire pressure was not checked. So I guess you have to explicitly ask for air in your tires, even though the marketing includes that as part of the service you're paying for. Amazing. The re-did oil change was performed free of charge. It did not fix the leak. So began a claim process with Valvoline corporate. Valvoline corporate had me get the issue diagnosed at a mechanic and get a quote. The diagnosis was that the oil filter housing was crushed and damaged. Apparently not uncommon at quick oil change places that use machines and move quickly. Quote was more than $300. There was also a nail in my tire. Good to know. So I sent the quote to Valvoline corporate. They said they'd get back to me within 48 hours. I called back a few days later, they said they had to wait for the manager to approve it. This went on for a couple weeks. At one point a call rep mentioned offhand that the money had already been transferred to the mechanic for the work. I asked if I could go get the work done then, since Valvoline had paid for it. They said no, we had to wait for the local Valvoline location manager to approve it, that's "just how it works." They would put me on hold and call the branch and no one would answer. What a huge flaw in the system, huh. That happened multiple times. Valvoline corporate assured me they would call me back and they never, not once, did. After about a month, my car slowly leaking oil this entire time, I called one last time. The rep pulled up my claim and immediately apologized and said he was escalating it to every manager and they would get back to me the next business day. I waited a week after that and then finally just went to the mechanic and got the fix done that Valvoline had already paid for. I'm not sure why any sane person would wait as long as I did to get a "green light" from a manager who clearly did not care. The customer service process seems intentionally created to put all the burden on the customer. What is happening that nowadays we go to a get an oil change, receive a maintenance problem instead, and the company runs in circles for five weeks. At least my car was drivable in the meantime. At least Valvoline did pay for the repair. But I should have at the very least also received a refund for the botched oil change in the first place without having to ask.

I tend to be a fan of the Valvoline Instant Oil Change nationwide chain. While there's one closer…read moreto my home, I was in the McCordsville area today and decided to stop in and get an oil change even though it was just a wee bit early from my due mileage. While it should be obvious from the name, this is an oil change location and not a full-service mechanic. That said, they do offer full-service oil changes, battery replacement, headlight/tail light replacement, transmission service, differential fluid replacement, tire rotation, fuel system cleaning, windshield wiper replacement, air filter replacement, and fleet service. If I remember correctly, this is a 3-bay location. I pulled up and was taken in right away. This is a somewhat set-apart location in the outer parking lot of a Meijer with a brand new Crew Car Wash around the corner. There's also a small strip center across the parking lot with a Noble Roman's, Great Clips, and Verizon. The employees here were friendly and helpful. They did everything a full-service change offered at a fair price. I was in/out in just a few minutes. As a wheelchair user, I always appreciate when I don't have to get out of the car. Because this is a nationwide chain, they were able to pull up my records. I appreciated that. I also appreciated that they aired up my tires as I had one running a bit low. They were having a film discussion - I'm a film critic, so that was kind of cool. However, they were also super focused on what they were doing and doing the job well. This location was clean, professional, and in good repair itself. Overall, this was a positive experience and I would easily return. While I'll generally stick to the one closer to my home (Glendale area of Indy), I won't hesitate to come back here when I'm in McCordsville. As a side note, Valvoline frequently has coupons on its website that can help reduce the price a bit.

I really wanted this to be my place as I was welcomed warmly and made to feel very comfortable. I…read morerecently changed jobs and moved, leaving behind my beloved automotive repair friends (I love you Rightway Auto!), forcing me to find a new place for oil changes, etc. I actually tried Belle Tire first, but I couldn't make an online appointment. The staff at Monro were very friendly and helpful. The process was no issue. They had me in and out quickly. It wasn't until I was headed down the road that I noticed that my tire pressures were still very low. It has been very cold and they were low with the warning light on. I didn't specifically mention that I needed them inflated, but the website mentioned a tire rotation was included with the oil change and I assume that pressures would have been checked. Upon further inspection, my oil life hadn't been reset. So, my car didn't know it had an oil change. Previous reviews indicate that they questioned even getting an oil change and of course, my mind immediately went there. I Google'd how to reset it and just took care of it myself. I'm certain that the tires weren't rotated and; therefore, I feel it's likely that none of the other service checks were done. I have to assume that they actually changed my oil and that these things were just inadvertently overlooked in the hustle and bustle of life. They did get me in and out on my lunch hour and, as I said, were very welcoming and kind.

As they held air just fine - just needed replaced because of wear. Even if they were cracked prior -- why wasn't I informed? I mean the tech put a balance weight about 6 inches away on one of them -- how do you not see that? Made it about 10 mins down the road before TPMS went off. I limp it home and they had impacted the lug bolts so hard my 250 ft/lbs nut busting impact wrench was no match. (Torque spec is 89 ft/lbs. Had to find someone with an air impact wrench to get them off. Imagine if I wanted to put on the spare... Avoid if you care about your safety. After leaving this review on Google - a response from the "owner" was posted and mentioned to call 1 (800) 297-9886 and hit option 2... well that's their HR department, it continues to ask about direct deposit, payroll issues, if I need to report an ethics issue - ya know, internal HR stuff. Guest services is option 6 when calling that number - however none of the options past that get you anywhere. So I worked my way to tech support and asked to be transferred to the appropriate dept. They obliged but I was sent to the same menu I got when hitting option 6 which was a dead end as before. Reading other reviews I found an alternative number (1 (800) 876-6676) which seemed more promising as option 2 was guest services when calling that one. The phone rings longer and you have the option to wait or have them call you back. Waiting eventually ends in silence with no one answering and using the option to have them call you back hasn't yielded a call back yet.... The level of incompetence is baffling it's almost impressive.
