    Kitchen backsplash

It was such a pleasure working with Vitalii! From the start of our interactions through Yelp, he was very quick in response, thorough in his plan to tackle the project of backsplashing, and provided feedback on how to improve the quality of the application. When he came to do the walk through for estimate (which was VERY fair in cost in comparison to the 3 other estimates I received), he was very consistent with his online messages: personable, friendly, and professional. The pictures speak for itself: he's skilled and top notch. Would highly recommend VB Custom Fix and look forward to utilizing them again in the future !

Vitalii did a wonderful job, nice, fair price and quick. He showed me how the access panel opens and it's super strong and totally flush with the wall so no bugs getting in my closet!!

As a 6'4", 270 lb man, this is the first time I've ever felt unsafe with a contractor in my home…read more There were some positives, but this was my worst contractor experience ever. After getting bids for a garage floor job, we chose Garage Experts because they had the best pitch and beat our best offer. Rick, the sales rep, was personable and persuasive. However, communication broke down after we picked them. With only two days before the job, I still hadn't received confirmation or color options, and payment was a hassle. The communication system was a mess, with a mix of texts, calls, and emails that made it hard to track anything. I ended up paying by credit card because I was worried about getting ghosted. On August 13, Arnold came to do the job. He was friendly and told me he'd finish the cleaning and epoxy that day, then return the next day for the polyaspartic. I came home late that evening, and he was back in the garage finishing up after his other job canceled. The floor looked good from what I could see, so I tipped him and thanked him. That night, my pregnant wife and I noticed strong fumes. Rick had warned us about the smell, but by morning we had headaches, dizziness, and respiratory irritation. We opened all the windows and left the house for the day. After two weeks away, the smell had lessened but was still there. This was unusual based on my research--most people said the smell should be gone within a week. I also noticed that the doorframe to the house was cracked, and Arnold had moved the door flap, damaging the threshold. There was no post-work inspection or communication about final payment. Rick came to address our concerns. The floor color was much lighter than expected, there were uneven spots where the material had pooled, and the fumes were still lingering. Rick agreed that the color was off and that the unevenness wasn't ideal, but we decided to move on. He also found it strange that Arnold had stayed so late. Rick said the owner might want to come out to inspect the job. The owner came over, and at first, we had a pleasant conversation. He offered to fix the door and gave us a $250 discount. He explained that the color variation was due to them using a standard version of our chosen color, which was lighter than Rick's samples. I pointed out that this was unprofessional. When it came to the fumes, he denied there was any odor, even though you could still smell it approaching the garage. He asked what I wanted, and I just said I needed help addressing the air quality issues. Rick had suggested exhaust or air purifiers, and I was hoping for guidance. Suddenly, the conversation shifted. The owner insulted me, saying, "your house smells like cat pee, you smell bad, this is weird, and you're just weird." I was shocked. We had been talking calmly, and then he flipped. He got loud, waved his hands in my face, and threatened to "clean me out" in court. Feeling threatened, I told him I was uncomfortable, and he stormed out. As he was leaving, he threatened me again, saying, "you don't want to mess with me, I'll clean you out." After he left, I called the company and canceled the door repair, as I no longer felt safe having them in my home. I paid the remaining balance by credit card just to be done with them. It's unfortunate, because until the owner's outburst, I was willing to give a decent review despite the issues. I even praised the company to a neighbor, and I appreciated Rick's efforts to resolve things. But after being insulted, gaslit, and threatened, there's no way I can recommend Garage Experts. The work has a lifetime warranty, but I don't feel safe calling them if something goes wrong. I haven't even parked in the garage yet, and I'm worried about the floor holding up. Pay a bit more for a contractor who will treat you respectfully. This experience left me confused and upset, wondering what I did wrong to trigger such hostility. All I wanted was some understanding and help resolving my concerns. Instead, I was verbally abused and threatened.

My kitchen suffered a dishwasher leak end of last summer with extensive water damage to the hardwood floor in the kitchen. Slav came in the next morning after I requested quote via Yelp. His professionalism and ability to explain what needs to be done, how they are going to do it made me decide to go with the company among a few whom came through the requests. I ended up needing to gut the kitchen due to the water damage, and I have been very impressed with Slav's responsiveness and his knowledge on the subject matter along the way. The best part is this is not my first kitchen renovation (previous one done decades ago in different city,) but Slav made the entire process rather smooth, it required me almost minimum efforts on only picking out the cabinets/color, counter top, tiles, some hardware for the cabinets/kitchen. The project was done on-time, his crew showed up when they said they would, and finished as what's been estimated/expected. I would not think twice next time if I have another renovation need!

I was able to make an appointment easily for a free consultation with the owner, Scott, who walked me through what was possible with my garage space based on my needs. The following day I had a proposal in my inbox that seemed very reasonable, and they even had availability to do the installation the following week. Zack, Brad, and Ian arrived on time for the installation and were very helpful when I had a lot of questions. They did a great job with the install and even put my tires up on the tire rack for me! From start to finish, it was a great experience, and I am so happy with my garage storage solution. I have ample overhead racks for long-term storage, lots of shelving, a wall for organizing yard tools, and a slat wall for storing and organizing accessories like screwdrivers and smaller yard tools.

Scott…read morecame over to speak with us for the consultation session and left us good impression about the company, so we decided to hire them to put a new polyurea coating. The staff who performed the job was professional in general and did a good job on the flooring. The only negative outcome of this job was there was a big long crack left on the door frame of my furnace room, potentially caused by their big grinder but I was not on site when it happened. I only realized it after the end of the first day of the job and the staff left. I also hired Dream Garage to put a new floor base after the flooring was completed. Another crew came in August and spent half a day to install the new floor base. The crew couldn't finish the entire job since they didn't have the correct estimate of the rubber base needed and ran out. When my wife and I inspected the partial result, we were quite disappointed by the quality we saw. Rubber base didn't align properly in visible entrance area; wide gaps were found in many places and some even peeled out as there wasn't enough glue applied to stick the rubber base to the drywall; large holes were left in several corners. The crew said they would come to fix the issue next time when they brought in some new rubber base. I emailed Scott & staff about the quality issues on the same day. Staff replied the next day that Scott was looking into the issue to understand the reason. It wasn't until 1.5 week that Scott told me in email that they were ordering new rubber base for me and would be available in mid to late September. One month had passed and it was early November but we were still not hearing anything back from Dream Garage. We saw HomeDepot had the same 6" rubber base selling all summer, so we wondered why it took so long for Dream Garage to order the new base. We emailed Scott & staff to find out what happened. It appears the ball was dropped somewhere along and we were left waiting indefinitely until we sent this email. Scott gave me a call said they were busy and that the installer would be able to come next week to install the remaining base and fix the issues. At the end, the same senior staff came to complete the job, fixed the rubber base issues and the crack on the door frame. What is supposed to be a 1-day job to install rubber base turned out to be a 2-month job with a long wait. Our other garage work had been put on hold for more than two months since August since the floor base wasn't complete. In our journey of doing business with Dream Garage, my wife and I feel there was an overall lack of customer empathy from the company despite the quality issues we experienced. We understand the pandemic has interrupted the supply chain for many businesses, but it's in this environment where companies need to be more proactive to reach out to their customers, not the other way around. Side note, the staff did not wear mask when they worked this week. My wife and I wore masks on site and we think the staff should wear masks when they speak to the customers, or at least ask if the customers want them to wear mask if they are vaccinated.

We have a baby, and wanted to change the floors of a house we bought for durability and aesthetics before moving in. There were also a number of creaks in our floors, and we wanted to get them fixed. Erik's team was able to take off the carpet and existing pine hardwood, level the floor, and install the laminate we picked out. His team came at 8am every morning and they finished by evening when we came back. We did this before we moved into our new house, and we love the way our house looks and feels now. Erik (the owner) was the first to come do the consultation, he was quick, and to me he felt very trustworthy from the beginning. He was also communicative throughout the whole process - often on the over-detailed side. And among the other offers, his was reasonable in price (compared to others) and according to our quick timeline. That said, when you get work done you may come across hurdles and it's important you get alternate opinions. As first time homeowners, we assumed that getting flooring done is straightforward. Apparently it's not. We were warned that the initial quote may be affected by the state of our subfloors once they take out the existing flooring. We got an urgent call saying that there was a lot more unevenness in our floors than expected, and that they would have to pour self leveling throughout the entire house, which was a quote of 90 bags, at $150 each. We were told that was the only option, and were strongly encouraged to go this route to make our timeline. After getting evaluations from multiple other flooring experts, we got alternate advice for up to 12 bags of self leveling, max. Our home is only 10yrs old. 90 bags of self leveling is enough for an entire apartment building, and weighs over 2 tons. Apparently the only way to guarantee absolute evenness is if you just pour self leveling on the entire floor, and also easier for the workers. But we opted for the labor-intensive (but more cost effective) way of going through the whole house measuring each high point & low point, sanding down the high points, and only pouring in the patches at the low points. Needless to say, we rejected the proposed approach and Erik's team was able to handle the uneven subfloors with only 3 bags. Three. Unfortunately, this issue resulted in several days delay in the completion of our project, not to mention a lot of additional stress. We wish this hurdle had not happened. That said, we are proud to have not caved under urgency and stress - it would have cost us 13.5K! That said, after consulting quite a few flooring companies - I noticed that each will use different numbers for labor, materials, demo, etc. They also suggest different approaches like keeping quarter rounds on baseboards or ripping them off and attaching new ones. Adding transitions as an additional cost or not, etc etc. Get as many quotes as you can so you understand what is the average price you should expect to pay - they may charge differently, but at the end of the day they have to meet their numbers to pay their guys and still make a profit. Flooring costs more than I expected, and most of the quotes I got were 14-20K for 2 story house around 2000sq ft. (Bathrooms excluded). At the end of the day, we love our new floors. Erik was extremely communicative through the whole process. His team was hardworking, and finished the work before we had to leave on a trip. They were detailed for the part of the floor which met the fireplace, making sure it was flush against the uneven hearth tile. There are barely any squeaks left in the house. They came and resolved any concerns we had. They were flexible with movers coming as they were finishing the last day. All in all, although there was a hiccup in the process, we did have a very good experience with Erik and his team. And, I'm confident he will recommend the spot patching method for leveling the floor for future clients. Thank you for making our floors one of my favorite parts of the house now, Hardwood Plus!
