They only sell Cards(Birthday, Celebration, etc) and some drinks. Not a dollar store or convenience store.

where have all the good stores gone? One is here for sure! A stand out place to find interesting…read moreclothes and jewelry that make a unique statement. Stay with Target for the mundane but if you want some style, this is a find.

There are some really unique artsy pieces (like a Frida Kahlo mural on a button-down dress shirt) and really comfortable normal clothes with a unique twist. After talking with the store owner I learned she works really hard to support artists all over the world (especially women designers.) She works directly with the designers to support them and sell their items in her store. This store is the oldest boutique in Piermont and her items are of far superior quality than the rest of the stores. There's a sales rack in the front and back of the store too in case people are looking for more affordable options. I saw some comments about people getting peeved that the store owner doesn't greet them right away when they walk into the store and ya'll need a reality check- this is one woman running an entire store operation front to back. When you come in and if you are looking for that one-on-one style advice, I'd recommend going up to her and saying hi and asking for help (and greeting her dog Lola too.) Her demeanor is honest, she will tell you what looks good and won't sell you something that looks bad. Some people are put off by such honesty but others love it. She's not going to pander to you to force a sale like the other stores which I appreciate. All in all, I love this store and will keep coming back every time I'm in Piermont.

I shop here regularly and appreciate how convenient it is for the community. However, during my most recent visit, I had a very disappointing experience with a cashier named Isabelle (shorter build, long hair). Her behavior was unprofessional, disrespectful, and inappropriate for a customer-facing role. She spoke to older and disabled customers in a rude and dismissive tone, and the way she addressed me personally felt derogatory, hostile, and discriminatory. I left the store feeling shaken and frankly shocked at how badly I was treated. Every customer deserves to be spoken to with basic courtesy, regardless of age, ability, or background. This kind of interaction is not acceptable from someone representing the store. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as employees like Isabelle undermine the otherwise positive experience that ShopRite Northvale provides. I truly enjoy shopping here, but behavior like this should not be allowed to continue.

Still a neat, clean, and well-stocked supermarket. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, a small group of us would line up outside, waiting for the newly priced donations to hit the floor. When the doors opened, we didn't walk, we charged. The thrill wasn't just in buying something, it was in discovering it. You could furnish an entire home in early-'60s style from that shop alone - shag rugs, macramé curtains, kidney-shaped tables, lava lamps, bar carts, wide-eyed waif prints. It felt like stepping into another era. And if you were lucky and petite, you might even score a designer Prada blazer for the price of lunch. Over the years, thrift shopping became fashionable, and the prices rose with it. The finds are more curated now, the bargains fewer. But every so often, tucked between the racks or hidden on a back shelf, there's still a small spark of that old magic. The best part, which will never change, is knowing your purchase supports local charities at this little thrift shop in Piermont. It's been there for over 50 years too! Some places sell things. Others sell memories. The Tappan Zee Thrift Shop, at its best, did both.

Tucked away in the quiet, still-undiscovered river town of Piermont, it felt like our little secret. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, a small group of us would line up before the doors opened, eager to rummage through the freshly priced donations. I found antique gold lockets, tarnished pitchers and children's cups that revealed sterling silver once polished, wooden poker chips and dice, hand-painted porcelain bowls, even kitschy gems like a tin Popeye lunchbox or miniature metal army men. The treasures were endless and best of all, affordable. I still stop by now and then, hoping to recapture that thrill, but the finds are fewer. Even a beat-up beaded wallet costs about $10. These days there's a designer rack where nothing is under $100., priced more like a consignment shop than a thrift store. I was lucky to score a Prada dress and jacket a few years back--my size, a women's zero, which isn't exactly in demand. It makes me sad to see this once-humble little shop drift into high-end territory. I'll keep going though, my eye is still trained to spot something special. It just might get a little heavy-lidded waiting for that magic find.
