I realized I was going to need help properly repairing it. I brought my phone in to ProTek. I cannot recommend Computer Doctor enough--they are honest, brilliant, and completely saved me…read moreafter a massive ordeal with Micro Center! My PC stopped working, and Micro Center diagnosed it as a bad motherboard. I bought a new motherboard from them and had Computer Doctor install it. When the PC still didn't work, Computer Doctor correctly analyzed that the processor was actually the issue. Since Micro Center offered free follow-up diagnostics, I took the PC back to them. Incredibly, they completely missed the processor issue again, doubled down on their original mistake, and claimed this brand-new second motherboard was also defective! They argued with me the entire time and dismissed my suspicion about the CPU. I rejected Micro Center's diagnosis, took my computer back, and bought a new processor elsewhere. Computer Doctor went above and beyond--they tested the processors multiple times for me and even installed the new CPU for free. Sure enough, it was the processor all along. I still have the original motherboard, and I am confident it was never the problem in the first place. Micro Center completely failed me, but Computer Doctor earned a customer for life. Bottom line: go to Computer Doctor first!

They keep their word as to when my laptop will be ready and have all-around been excellent computer doctors for excellent money spent! The first time I visited was for a screen "screaming" on my macbook Air. They fixed it affordably. Another time it was for my speakers on my macbook Pro - all my devices are years old, not new, and they brought them waaay up to speed AND provide the CC Cleaner on my MB Pro, which I used to clean up the drive regularly (and just paid to have it clean my laptop annually for 44$). I used it for almost a year w/o payment so I'm a happy camper all around. In fact, I'm going there today bc I may have had water damage on my Pro screen so I pray it can be corrected w/o too much expense.

He was knowledgeable and friendly. He identified the problem as a burned out SSD. He showed me how he determined the cause, and explained why it happens and how to prevent it in the future. It's not cheap to have them come to your house, but my guy did a good job and saved me a lot of time and uncertainty around what I was doing. I thought it was worth it, and would use these guys next time I have a problem I don't know how to solve.

I took the damaged thumb-drive into PC Mac Express for diagnosis to see if it could be fixed. They called back and said it would cost about $400 and there was only a 50/50 chance that it could be recovered. When I picked it up, there was a red wire attached to the board that had not previously been there. I found someone in Canada to look at it and said they would do it for $200 and I'd only have to pay if they recovered the data. The company in Canada attempted to recover the data but said it looks like the other company had done something to the chip and were likely holding the data 'hostage' so that no one else could get the data, so that my only choice was to go back to PC Mac Express. The scope of this technology is out of my range so I don't know what to believe but what I saw with my own two eyes was the extra red wire that had not been there when I dropped it off. When I called PC Mac to question this and what was happening, they claimed nothing had been done and they had not attached any wires. At the end of the day, I didn't get my data back and PC Mac said no work had been done when in fact, I saw that alterations had been made to the thumb drive. I wouldn't ever bring anything to them again because the story doesn't add up. Perhaps something had been done by the people who work for Michael without him being aware, but in that case, nothing was done by Michael to understand the discrepancy.

I spoke with Dennis (the owner) over the phone. He told me to bring it in, which I did at the start of this week (June 1st 2020). Upon meeting Dennis, he looked up the issue I was having. He saw that there were many small transistor parts to be replaced. Dennis gave me two prices; one for his service time (about two hours) and one for parts. At the same time he did ask me if I really wanted to spend the money (about $250 to repair). While he did not think it would pay, I told him to proceed, that I was not looking to buy a new model nor take a chance on someone else's used radio. Before he went any further, Dennis asked me if I really wanted to proceed at the anticipated cost. I told him to do so, understanding fully his cost breakdown at the time we spoke. I admire Dennis' honesty with me. I have known about B&R in my neighborhood for many years, and I was happy to find B&R still in business. FYI, another repair shop I called wanted money upfront just to look at it, regardless of whether or not I chose to proceed. This vendor was not even certain they had parts to repair it. Dennis read what was needed (from a document relating to the issue). After telling me it'd be a week to repair, Dennis called me the very next day to say that he had it ready for me! Thank you B&R!
