Last week I went to the Genius Bar, at the short hills Apple store and while i do acknowledge that they are very knowledgable - they were unable to repair my Macbook Pro, saying that it was "too old". Having called upon Charlie in the past, I drove straight there and left the laptop with them for a "diagnostic workup". The advantage of using Best Bet is that they deal with BOTH windows AND apple operating systems (in my household we have several PC's and several Macs) and, for me anyway, its VERY REASSURING that my tech guy is intimately familiar with both! Surprisingly, they were able to repair my laptop (that Apple said couldnt be repaired) for $100...I was GREATLY RELIEVED Ive had them come to my house for Desktop computer help and I've also driven there myself for laptop help I find it comforting dealing with a small'ish operation (where they actually know who I am when i walk in or call) as opposed to a huge corporation where I have to first "make an appointment to speak with them", and if i'm "lucky" they'll give me an appointment in 4 or 5 days. With Best Bet my families needs have always been tended to very quickly.

He was knowledgeable and friendly. He identified the problem as a burned out SSD. He showed me how he determined the cause, and explained why it happens and how to prevent it in the future. He recommended a plan to fix it. Because we still had some time left in the hour, he ran a RAM test and did some tweaking to my RAM settings based on the test. It's not cheap to have them come to your house, but my guy did a good job and saved me a lot of time and uncertainty around what I was doing. I thought it was worth it, and would use these guys next time I have a problem I don't know how to solve.

I took the damaged thumb-drive into PC Mac Express for diagnosis to see if it could be fixed. They called back and said it would cost about $400 and there was only a 50/50 chance that it could be recovered. When I picked it up, there was a red wire attached to the board that had not previously been there. I found someone in Canada to look at it and said they would do it for $200 and I'd only have to pay if they recovered the data. The company in Canada attempted to recover the data but said it looks like the other company had done something to the chip and were likely holding the data 'hostage' so that no one else could get the data, so that my only choice was to go back to PC Mac Express. The scope of this technology is out of my range so I don't know what to believe but what I saw with my own two eyes was the extra red wire that had not been there when I dropped it off. When I called PC Mac to question this and what was happening, they claimed nothing had been done and they had not attached any wires. At the end of the day, I didn't get my data back and PC Mac said no work had been done when in fact, I saw that alterations had been made to the thumb drive. I wouldn't ever bring anything to them again because the story doesn't add up. Perhaps something had been done by the people who work for Michael without him being aware, but in that case, nothing was done by Michael to understand the discrepancy.

I spoke with Dennis (the owner) over the phone. He told me to bring it in, which I did at the start of this week (June 1st 2020). Upon meeting Dennis, he looked up the issue I was having. He saw that there were many small transistor parts to be replaced. Dennis gave me two prices; one for his service time (about two hours) and one for parts. At the same time he did ask me if I really wanted to spend the money (about $250 to repair). While he did not think it would pay, I told him to proceed, that I was not looking to buy a new model nor take a chance on someone else's used radio. Before he went any further, Dennis asked me if I really wanted to proceed at the anticipated cost. I told him to do so, understanding fully his cost breakdown at the time we spoke. I admire Dennis' honesty with me. I have known about B&R in my neighborhood for many years, and I was happy to find B&R still in business. FYI, another repair shop I called wanted money upfront just to look at it, regardless of whether or not I chose to proceed. This vendor was not even certain they had parts to repair it. Dennis read what was needed (from a document relating to the issue). After telling me it'd be a week to repair, Dennis called me the very next day to say that he had it ready for me! Thank you B&R!

I cannot recommend Computer Doctor enough--they are honest, brilliant, and completely saved me…read moreafter a massive ordeal with Micro Center! My PC stopped working, and Micro Center diagnosed it as a bad motherboard. I bought a new motherboard from them and had Computer Doctor install it. When the PC still didn't work, Computer Doctor correctly analyzed that the processor was actually the issue. Since Micro Center offered free follow-up diagnostics, I took the PC back to them. Incredibly, they completely missed the processor issue again, doubled down on their original mistake, and claimed this brand-new second motherboard was also defective! They argued with me the entire time and dismissed my suspicion about the CPU. I rejected Micro Center's diagnosis, took my computer back, and bought a new processor elsewhere. Computer Doctor went above and beyond--they tested the processors multiple times for me and even installed the new CPU for free. Sure enough, it was the processor all along. I still have the original motherboard, and I am confident it was never the problem in the first place. Micro Center completely failed me, but Computer Doctor earned a customer for life. Bottom line: go to Computer Doctor first!

I used it for almost a year w/o payment so I'm a happy camper all around. I hired them to "wall mount a few TVs and hook up my receiver" in my new apartment and Doron came in with much better ideas - "why not do all new speakers in the ceiling?" This made me excited but also skeptical - is this the classic upsell? But no, all of the prices were extremely reasonable, the work went smoothly with excellent communication, and when there were hiccups with the TV hookups (Verizon FIOS network clashed with my home mesh internet system and provided a huge headache), Doron and Jonathan put in the extra time to make sure everything was perfect and never thought twice about it, at no extra charge to me. I hired them for an add-on project to install a TV on my roof, which was a fun AV/construction puzzle that they solved beautifully. It's really clear these guys know what they're doing and care deeply about delivering a fantastic product. Even since the hookup when there have been a couple small issues, they never hesitated to help me resolve them, even coming to my house on short notice. Seriously I can't say enough about ExpertTech - I wish all contractors worked like they do, but we don't live in a fantasy world! Thank you Doron and Jonathan (and Nico and everyone else!)

So after consulting the internet the internet I called ExpertTech Inc. and some other firms. What came next blew my mind (in a good way), not only did Doron (the owner, and all round very nice guy) get back to me immediately, but he came over the same day to do the visual assessment. I had and itemized estimate the very next morning! Boom! How about that for speed? I scheduled the installation for the next week, when all the necessary components were scheduled to arrive. Installation was also a breeze! At least Marston and Brandon, a two man installation Team Machine, made it seem that way. The first day was spent, calibrating all the necessary CAT-6 ports and setting up the server rack and internet. The second day was spent setting up the sound system. And this is were they really shined. Apparently the speakers (installed by someone else, not these consummate and dedicated pros) had been wired wrong, At this point I was afraid the whole endeavour would go down the drain, but fear not, ExpertTech stepped up to the plate! After checking one ceiling speaker they realized they could remedy the whole situation by going in and taking every speaker out of the ceiling and rewiring them. This is not an easy task with high ceilings and it proved to be time consuming, but these guys never even broke a step and handled it like champs, they even stayed late until the job was done. (Who in NYC does that? Nobody, except ExpertTech! Faith in Humanity restored, am I Rite'?) Anyway, after setting up the speakers, they cleaned up and and walked me through the setup and how to use it. Then they left. And were it not for the moronic massive smile on my face when I cranked up some tunes and surfed for cat pics on the blazing fast Wireless (up from an average time of 30 Mbps to now around 240-300 Mpbs not even kidding, I almost shed a tear, when I later streamed a movie in full HD, in BED, something I had not been able to do before) I would have never even known they were there. Honestly, I cannot recommend them enough. This is one of those no brainers. Just go ahead and call them. Btw, the other company called two weeks after they installed everything, let's call them comapny FU Client, and they said they would be available a week after that.... so yeah... Don't even bother, just call ExperTech. I didn't regret it!!!
