My letter to the Chase branch on High Point Road:…read more I am sending this to your branch, it being the one closest to my home, and which I've visited the most. Please close both of the above-noted accounts, and provide confirmation. Both of them now have a zero balance, and there are no outstanding items remaining to be paid on the checking account. I am keeping my credit card account open, as a convenience. . . but, as has been true thus far, Chase will never get a penny from me, for interest or for any late charges. I've transferred the remainder of my consumer banking business (savings and checking) to US Bank. I've also given them the privilege of opening a sizeable new CD for me, and they'll get other new business from me as well. You see, US Bank is doing something simple and fundamental, which your company's management now finds beneath it: THEY ACTUALLY ANSWER CALLS PLACED TO DIRECT NUMBERS AT THEIR BRANCHES, AND THEY RESPOND TO EMAILS SENT TO THEIR MANAGERS. When I needed to know whether Chase offers its customers a kind of service akin to notarizing - a specialized authentication called a medallion signature guarantee (for documents related to my late father's estate) - naturally I called the direct number for your branch (which is still publicly shown on the web). I discovered that, just as the US Postal Service did some time ago, Chase now routes all calls, dialed to any of its numbers, to a central, automated clearinghouse (where, despite my savvy and persistence, I could not figure out any way to speak to a human being).* I still have the business card of the very nice individual, at the downtown Madison branch, with whom I opened my Chase checking and savings. . . so I then called the direct number shown on her card for THAT branch. Same story. Ditto when I dialed her direct number. Then I emailed her, to tell her of my frustrations and ask her to pass my comments on to management. No reply. (The message didn't bounce back as Undeliverable, so I presume it was received.) I then visited your branch, and asked a teller for one of your business cards. When I got home and looked at it more closely, I saw that the only number displayed was the same branch number I'd already called . . . and NO email address. (I spoke to a relative about all of this. She maintained that she's able to reach Chase directly, but then realized that her contacts had been about her mortgage, not as a lowly consumer banking customer.) Goodbye and good riddance, Chase. It doesn't deserve my business. Period. ___________________________________ * (Big difference, though, between Chase and USPS: Local post offices actually still have working direct numbers, specific to each branch. For those of us in the know, those offices still answer calls dialed to those numbers.)

Attempted to make an appointment to meet with them but apparently the call center forgot to tell the local office we were coming. Got there and they had no appointment scheduled and really didn't want anything to do with us. We waited a while but after no one really wanting to help us we left. Major disconnect between whoever takes the calls and schedules the appointments. Walk ins clearly aren't wanted or accepted so don't even try.

Probably the best kept secret in personal banking. You will not find a better personal bank…read more Checks are free. On-line banking is top notch. Free OFX connections which give you the state of the art web interface. They pay all my ATM fees regardless of how much or from what bank. I never get charged fees for anything. There is no minimum balance. You get a brokerage account when you open a checking account so you can buy stock or funds if you want but its not required. You can even open multiple accounts and have them linked together which is very helpful if you have personal and business transactions. Best of all, the people at the Middleton branch are terrific. Christine will know who you are and help you with anything regarding your account. She will greet you by your first name when you call. While they provide most banking activities, they cannot cash checks or take cash as a deposit. But keep in mind you can use any ATM for your cash needs and get reimbursed for fees.

I have never been to this location, but this is a review of the phone customer service department:…read more I had some minor questions about my current motorcycle loan and decided to call their customer service line. The wait time time was around 5 minutes, which was to be expected during the middle of the day. Stephanie answered the phone and was incredibly helpful and proactive in helping me. Not only did she answer my question, but she also set me up with an online account (which is a bit more technical than your major financial institutions on-line setup; due to verification you have to call and answer a few security questions). I did not have to ask to be set-up with an account, she proactively asked, and in addition to that, she offered to assist me as I created the account! A+ service. This was the first time I called in, and I am glad that I chose summit. Thanks again Stephanie.

Summit Credit Union is not a bank. This financial institution is innacurate at everything they do…read more They make people deposit in an account their mortgage payment and that way they can count it in their deposit accounts for data until they transfer. They report account late even when you have receipts of timely payments as agreed. Their cash back they celebrate in marketing is a nightmare to get into the account. Their technology and security is awful and at least every other month ( if not often) there is an alert of some scam going on in the Internet about Summit. Don't bank with them.

I was a customer of Capitol Bank for 23 years. I always felt like there was a yoke around my neck…read more I received no help during covid from this bank, although I was able to get two low interest SBA loans for my S corp and my LLC, as well as grants from Dane Buy Local. They continuously set the loan renewal for short periods, charging exorbitant renewal fees. It was especially difficult during the economic downturn of 2008. They even tried to foreclose on me, even though I had never missed a payment. I went with Capitol Bank because Todd Geltemeyer, who I met through an economic redevelopment coprporation, had transferred to Capitol Bank. He eventually left, but I was roped into the loan, with little option to transfer to another bank. I have finally been able to switch to One Community Bank and have received excellent service there. I wasn't even able to access my account online with Capitol Bank, whereas, with One Community, my payments are automatically deducted and I can check my payments easily online. I would recommend going with One Community Bank for all your business needs.
