The tellers listened to my specific needs and were able to form fit the money service requests to meet our families needs. However to be fair, I travel extensively and need to do banking from other states in the US. When that happens the service goes down to one star. I have repeatedly been unable to get transactions and financial informations from the Credit Union over the phone. The staff at the call centeris ill equipped to address financial issues consistently. From now on I will take the branch number with me when I travel, because the call center consistently, I think, does crowd control and the ultimate service ends in a dead end, a huge waste of time, and frustrating .Most of the time I just love being a UW Credit Union Member. Just not when I step out of the city. While overall the Credit Union does great service, the call center should be avoided.

When things change, it is not always a good one. I had been a customer of UWCU and Summit before…read moreSummit was called State Capital CU. Back when Ron Dayne ran the ball for the Badgers. Now, this year, they get a new system. I move back, it stopped my card access to check me for fraud ID. Had to change my accounts to not get new fees. Then applying for a mortgage, I was denied a VA loan and asked to call Fairway. Nice students run it, but the mortgage is what sent me to another bank. We are told a credit union would be the best place to go. But, if Old National (Anchors), USAA, Bank of America and a few other mortgage brokers approved me at the same rate.. what gives? Please do better. I am not going anywhere, but more loyalty would be greatly appreciated

My letter to the Chase branch on High Point Road:…read more I am sending this to your branch, it being the one closest to my home, and which I've visited the most. Please close both of the above-noted accounts, and provide confirmation. Both of them now have a zero balance, and there are no outstanding items remaining to be paid on the checking account. I am keeping my credit card account open, as a convenience. . . but, as has been true thus far, Chase will never get a penny from me, for interest or for any late charges. I've transferred the remainder of my consumer banking business (savings and checking) to US Bank. I've also given them the privilege of opening a sizeable new CD for me, and they'll get other new business from me as well. You see, US Bank is doing something simple and fundamental, which your company's management now finds beneath it: THEY ACTUALLY ANSWER CALLS PLACED TO DIRECT NUMBERS AT THEIR BRANCHES, AND THEY RESPOND TO EMAILS SENT TO THEIR MANAGERS. When I needed to know whether Chase offers its customers a kind of service akin to notarizing - a specialized authentication called a medallion signature guarantee (for documents related to my late father's estate) - naturally I called the direct number for your branch (which is still publicly shown on the web). I discovered that, just as the US Postal Service did some time ago, Chase now routes all calls, dialed to any of its numbers, to a central, automated clearinghouse (where, despite my savvy and persistence, I could not figure out any way to speak to a human being).* I still have the business card of the very nice individual, at the downtown Madison branch, with whom I opened my Chase checking and savings. . . so I then called the direct number shown on her card for THAT branch. Same story. Ditto when I dialed her direct number. Then I emailed her, to tell her of my frustrations and ask her to pass my comments on to management. No reply. (The message didn't bounce back as Undeliverable, so I presume it was received.) I then visited your branch, and asked a teller for one of your business cards. When I got home and looked at it more closely, I saw that the only number displayed was the same branch number I'd already called . . . and NO email address. (I spoke to a relative about all of this. She maintained that she's able to reach Chase directly, but then realized that her contacts had been about her mortgage, not as a lowly consumer banking customer.) Goodbye and good riddance, Chase. It doesn't deserve my business. Period. ___________________________________ * (Big difference, though, between Chase and USPS: Local post offices actually still have working direct numbers, specific to each branch. For those of us in the know, those offices still answer calls dialed to those numbers.)

Do not accept a check written on this bank if you intend to cash it…read more Their policy is to not honor checks drawn on their accounts when presented at their teller window unless the payee has an account with them. If you deposit a Middleton Community Bank check(s) at your bank, and are in the habit of not taking the time to sign the back of each check because you process many checks, (retailers, landlords, etc.), you will find the checks written on Middleton Community Bank returned and deducted from your account along with all the usual bank fees (and NSF notices on checks you have written against the funds you assumed to be available to you). I have no problem with the other thousands of checks I have deposited, but then this is the first check drawn on Middleton community Bank I suggest you bank with the UW Credit Union if you want an excellent deal with the minimum of hassles if you do not specifically need a commercial bank. Their fees are lower, loan interest is lower, and they are much more conveniently located.

Another failed attempt at securing a live CS assistance over the phone from one of their employees…read more Called to inquire about a loan payoff payment I sent in last week (for the second time!), and was met with "Shane/Shayne"?? "Shane/Shayne" started the call off by pretending to be an electronic CS rep. He thought it was humorous to speak like a robot, breaking as an electronic voice would. Continued through the conversation staying "in character", asking the same question over and over even though I was specific in what I was calling about. "Shane/Shayne"'s (large sounding) dog, barked in the background, so "Shane/Shayne" decided his game was over and then proceeded to speak somewhat normally like a real human would! At this point he started a new level of Q&A and acted like he could not figure out how to answer my simple question of why a payoff to my loan sent last week is still not reflecting on my account. My previous issues with them, were loan payments that took DAYS to post, while interest was still being calculated daily!! I will have to say, dealing with this CU has been a nightmare! *It's funny how I looked at the Google reviews and they are all positive, as IF they paid to have the negative ones removed or blocked and Yelp is only full of negative reviews. I do not recommend!

I was a customer of Capitol Bank for 23 years. I always felt like there was a yoke around my neck…read more I received no help during covid from this bank, although I was able to get two low interest SBA loans for my S corp and my LLC, as well as grants from Dane Buy Local. They continuously set the loan renewal for short periods, charging exorbitant renewal fees. It was especially difficult during the economic downturn of 2008. They even tried to foreclose on me, even though I had never missed a payment. I went with Capitol Bank because Todd Geltemeyer, who I met through an economic redevelopment coprporation, had transferred to Capitol Bank. He eventually left, but I was roped into the loan, with little option to transfer to another bank. I have finally been able to switch to One Community Bank and have received excellent service there. I wasn't even able to access my account online with Capitol Bank, whereas, with One Community, my payments are automatically deducted and I can check my payments easily online. I would recommend going with One Community Bank for all your business needs.
