Very poor ownership the owner Ray was sitting right there when I was complaining about being charged four hours of labor when it took two hours to fix my vehicle the mechanic Jordan did a really good job on the work and was able to get it done in a timely matter I do appreciate himunfortunately you should not ever charge a customer more than what you're actually doing the work for I should've only been charged two hours labor not four horrible business. read more

I made arrangements last week to have my van worked on. I was informed to bring it in the following Monday at 8am. It should only take a hour. At 10:15 I asked what is going on ? We are waiting on part. I said I gave you a deposit last week so you could get the part. We are in the mountains. I politely asked for my deposit back. He expected me to wait all day. read more

My car broke down over the weekend and I was lucky enough to be right by Utopia. I left my key in the drop box and they got back to me by 9:30 Monday with a full diagnosis. It wasn't good news but I really appreciate that they were so prompt, as I was from out of town. They let me leave my car there for a few days while I worked out a long distance tow. If I could give zero stars I would. I brought my car to these guys on 3 consecutive days to learn each time they could not perform the work in any reasonable time frame. The issue was brakes and all I can say is that it is not fair to have a client wait all day for a brake job especially when parts were pre ordered. It seems they cannot provide appointments or more to the point stick to them. On the third day I was then told sheepishly after I had waited 4 hours that the previous person's job had 'run over' and they would try to get to my car before closing after coming at 8 am. I simply canceled the job, found a shop in Denver who indicated the parts they ordered were not good quality and happily dod the work for half the price. Rather go to Denver and come back in half the time these guys were doing the repair. I also have to add that if you are doing anything beyond tires I don't think these guys have the expertise and it is real hit and miss. They should not advertise themselves as a generalmshop, they are not and simply exist due to lack of competition in Fairplay. If you want a job done within the promised time and with assured quality, DON'T COME HERE! read more

Had a soft tired and needed to fill up with air. I don't trust grocery stores or gas stations for air pump so I stopped by Main Street garage. They were casual and helpful, super nice. The gentleman who took care of our tire was friendly and professional. We were staying in Fairplay and one of our tires got a bubble in it and was spewing air. They were able to get to it within a few hours to see if it was able to be patched. Unfortunately, it was not. A tire needed to be ordered from Denver. We called the next day to see when we could pick up the new tire. But we had a miscommunication with the gal on the phone. We thought she ordered the tire and she thought we were going to call her back to tell us if we wanted to order a tire. I don't know how the ball got dropped. It could have been cell service or lack there of. We could have said order a tire and she never heard that. Anyway, the tire was ordered and came in the next day. We were driving back from Buena Vista and received a text that it was ready but we were not going to make it on time and they weren't open until Monday. So we paid for it on the phone and they said they'd leave it outside for us. When we arrived 25 minutes after they closed, it was not where they said they were going to leave it. Thankfully, a nice gentleman hoped out of his truck and said he worked there and could help us. (Whew!). Overall, we had a good experience besides the miscommunication about ordering the tire. They sent regular text updates and were very friendly. read more

I was driving through from Denver to get to Crestone for an event. On my way through I hit a nail and almost had to get towed all the way from FairPlay back to Denver. But when I swung by they got my tire patched and fixed with a smile on their face in less than 30 minutes. It's a lovely local business with a super cute dog as well. I didn't care about the price as I'm just lucky it was here and they were so kind. read more

My truck broke down and I towed it to Main Street Garage on a Friday and they said it wouldn't be until Monday that they could get to it. I called on Wednesday after not hearing from them, and they said they were backed up but they'd get to it tomorrow. I called a week later, again they promise they'll look at it tomorrow. Call another week later, they still haven't looked at the truck. Finally, 6 weeks after bringing it to them, they had a chance to look at it and it turns out the problem had fixed itself (electrical system had gotten wet, now it was dry and it started just fine). It's my work truck so it was really frustrating that it took them 6 weeks just to look at it and tell me nothing was wrong. Especially since they kept telling me they'd get to it the next day, each time I called they gave me a false promise. It set me back quite a bit not having my truck for that long, I would've taken it somewhere else had I known that would happen. Then they charged me $50 for looking at it after all of that. I'll never do business with them again if I can help it. read more

We had a tire issue during our visit to Fairplay on 8/23/23. We stopped in (the correct business name is Utopia Tire & Service) and the staff were so kind to us! While we had to wait while they completed other vehicles, they communicated with us the whole time. They were able to patch up our tire and get us back on the road for a VERY reasonable price! During a trip from Santa Fe to Denver, my partner's car broke down - stopped running - a short distance from Main Street Garage in a pretty heavy snow storm. The car was towed by AAA just before closing. Fearing the car was unrepairable, MSG gave him hope that it could be fixed the next day. And fixed it was. They went out of their way to get it done first thing so that he could be on his way. Throughout what was a difficult ordeal for him, they were helpful, positive and very competent. Lucky there isnt a lower rating. Total rip off. Overpriced, and cant get a repair done without having multiple attempts. And you pay for each attempt. Dont learn your trade on my dime. Takes weeks to get a simple repair done, and then it wasnt done correct. The owner, Chip, is arrogant beyond imagination. Horrible customer service. After driving our minivan down CR 18 and hiking the Limber Grove Trail, we discovered that the front driver's tire was flat. We put on the spare and dropped off the flat tire at Main Street Garage towards the end of the day. The next day, after pressure and bead testing the tire, they called and said that nothing was wrong with it. We must have hit a hole that unseated the tire enough to cause a slow leak. When I picked up the tire, they handed me an invoice for $0.00 and refused to accept payment, even when I said I owed them something for their time and trouble. Since then I have driven the minivan from Alma to DIA to Fort Collins and then from Fort Collins to the Chicago area and had no problems with the tire. Thanks Grace and Jack! read more

I like the owner he is a great person. Is hard to find good quality employees but the owner himself is a good person he is not out there trying to get people he works every day, poor guy. If someone is being ripped off here when he is not around he needs to know. Is hard to write anything bad about this place when the owner will break his back to make it right for anyone. My truck got too old now I have a new one. I had never met anyone who had met Chip the owner in person said anything wrong about him. When I have a problem I ask to speak to him his employees don't like that they will act as jealous wives but is his business let him know employees can closed down someone else business, the owner needs to be know no matter what and if he can't fix the problem is what it is is a small town Chip will do what he can to make you happy. read more

We found a leak in our tire while on vacation in the area. Given that it's the only garage in the area and we had no other options, we were worried that it was going to cost us a fortune to have the car fixed. We asked around and were told that Main Street Garage was great. We went in and told them what was going on with our car. They had great customer service and our mechanic was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. After about half an hour, he had patched the tire and topped up the air in the three others. I had a flat tire in near Frisco, Colorado this morning. I put the flimsy donut tire on around 5:30 AM on the way to Alma, Colorado to climb some 14er mountains. I did a Google search for the nearest tire repair shop to Alma. Main Street Garage in Fairplay came up as the nearest place. I pulled in and within 15 minutes, I had a repaired tire and I was on my way to Aspen. As soon as I pulled up they had a guy out there taking the flat tire out of my hands within 1 minute. These guys are quick and no-nonsense. I paid my $18 and was on my way. Highly, highly recommended! read more

I was on vacation in Fairplay for a week. On the last night, the tire on my rental car went flat. The spare tire was also flat (thanks, Avis!). To make my flight in Denver the next morning, my best option was to have the tire repaired rather than have Avis bring me another car. I was at Main Street Garage when they opened. They worked my tire repair in so that I could make my flight. They had me on the road in less than 30 minutes for a very reasonable price.
