We got a flat tire about 35 miles away on 82. Our rental had no spare tire, only a bottle of sealant and pump that attached to the cigarette lighter. Not very dependable... Shaun was pretty rude and condescending to me when I had a few questions about the repairs he was about to make on my vehicle. The repair and service was subpar. The coolant hose they put on was flimsy and burst with the heat of the system, and the clamps were the wrong size and so loose I could spin them with my fingers around the hose. This left me stranded on 24 several times before I could get it replaced on my own. the only good thing I have to say is they were quick with a warranty replacement part. I suggest the several better options for repair in/near leadville, like RPM. read more

I was traveling thru Leadville when my car broke down I had it towed to dependable auto for repair. I was told it would be a 4 hour repair 2 days later I was told they couldn't find the right part and was given a part number. It took me 1 minute to find the part using Google and another 3 minutes to order and pay and have it shipped. The part showed up 6 days later then Shawn at dependable basically told me to fuck off and wait another 2 weeks because he was going on vacation. After 3 weeks of camping waiting for my car I finally got it back. Sure it was fixed but everything of value was stolen from my car totaling almost $500 worth of goods. When I called Shawn to complain he threatened me with bodily harm. I highly recommend using anyone else for repair work in Leadville if you like keeping your personal belongings. read more

Stopped here near closing time with several nails in my tire on a large dump truck. They happily agreed to help out and took the tire off the rim and patched it from inside vs a plug. It saved the tire and their price to complete it all was less then one plug at the normal place I go to in Summit County. This is a business that truly cares and I highly recommend them. Terrible service. Dropped off vehicle for front end alignment on a solid axle vehicle with an 8:00am appointment,there is no waiting area and it took them 6 hours to do a couple of turns on the steering linkage. I had to take vehicle to another shop as the toe in was completely wrong and eating my front tires......the alignment is now as it should be thanks to big o tires in Frisco. I did a better job with a simple tape measure prior to having the "professionals" at dependable mess everything up! Don't recommend this business unless you like to pay for crap work! read more

A+ rating for our repair today. After having traveled 2,000 miles & many mountain passes with 1,000 miles to go we heard metal on metal on our front brakes. We hit the town of Leadville shortly thereafter & pulled into Dependable Auto. There 3 bays were full but they said that they would repair our truck. We pulled into their shop at 4pm & left going down the road by 5:30 in a safe vehicle! They got the brake pads delivered within 20 minutes & immediately completed the repair. The bill was comparable to what we pay at home & they treated with hospitality & respect. Hats off to this establishment who kept us rolling safely down the road without skipping a bit. We went for a bike ride for some ice cream while waiting in this historic town. read more

I went to have my snow tires put on here, and a day later one of my tires was flat. Was probably pinched, but they told me it was a faulty air cap. Then I took my LandCruiser in for a timing belt change, which I just had to have redone because the rings were not placed correctly on the water pump when they put it back together, and it messed everything up. Very unhappy with my $1,100 that was wasted on a bad repair job. Go to RPM, they had to literally redo and properly fix everything that this place had just done! Ridiculous! read more

Terrible. Came in with an overheating issue over and was told the next day the cooling fan motor had burned out. fine, makes sense and the repair was authorized. The mechanic that we initially talked to was very pleasant and said the vehicle would be ready in a few days. Once the fan motor was installed, it still overheated. They decide to remove the new motor, and put the old one back. The motor that the initial mechanic stated was visibly worn out, and instead replace the thermostat. After picking it up a week later, it overheats again less than 10 miles down the road. When I return to the shop, the final mechanic that worked on the car, who I then learn is the owner says it's the headgasket. not a cheap repair. When i ask why it's the headgasket when they couldn't figure it out before, the owner becomes UNGLUED!!! this guy yelled, screamed, and threatened to call the police. unlike my car, this guy went 0-100 in no time flat. Obviously we decided not to authorize the repair. The poor lady working the desk seemed unsuprised by his behavior. We then called a tow truck to take the vehicle to Silverthorne, and get away from this guy and any calls he can make to other shops in the area. While waiting for the tow truck, the owner was flipping his lid outside. The lady who at the desk inside was much calmer and eventually did give us a full refund. The shop we took it to in Silverthorne takes a look and within an hour says it's the fan motor, and that the thermostat was installed backwards. This diagnosis was made without any prompting or explanation of the events that occurred a couple hours earlier. when we told the shop manager about our experience at "dependable", another tow truck driver dropping of another vehicle laughed and said that the owner at "dependable" did have a reputation for having a short fuse. I'm sure other mechanics there are good, and based on some other reviews do some good work. I don't believe it's a scam shop trying to upcharge repairs; however, I do feel there is a high level of incompetence and certainly some anger issues with the owner. If stuck in Leadville with no other options, be very wary. it's worth the extra money to tow the vehicle into Dillon, Leadville, or really anywhere other than this shop. read more

I would give this place six stars if I could. They checked out my car and realized the problem was something out of their hands and needed to go to my specific dealer. They let me keep my car with them for a bit while I figured out a towing situation, told me the exact place I should take it to suit my problem, and were kind in their pricing as my problem was gonna have a long solution. These guys did some work on me car and after getting it back there was oil stains all over the diver seat. When we brought it up to the owner he said that they were already there when you could still touch the stain and get oil on you hand. He then did a half-ass job of trying to clean in and just smeared the oil around more. They were very rude and unprofessional. read more

If there were 6 stars that would be more accurate. Yesterday, my pup and I were traveling to twin lakes to secure our holiday weekend spot for the rest of the crew coming up today. About 20 minutes out, my temperature light came on and essentially my truck overheated, and again, and again until I decided it was time for a tow. I called O'Reilley's auto who then sent me to call dependable auto repair. I spoke with Shaun, who turned out to be my savior that day. I explained to him the situation; that I had a vehicle that was not drivable as my only form of transportation, and that I had AAA "on the way" with no ETA. He gave me a local tow contact and he said if I could get my truck in in the next 45 minutes he could squeeze me in and get me fixed up and back on the road (if possible). If he had not provided that tow contact, I would probably be still sitting on the side of the road this morning. I called Joe (the tow), also awesome, and explained the sense of urgency. Joe was there in 25 minutes, notched me up and my pup and him were on our way to Shaun. Shaun and his team took a look at my truck, replaced my thermostat, flushed the coolant, test drove the vehicle and I was back on the road to twin lakes in less than an hour. What a turn of events when I was thinking I would have to hitch a ride to a local hotel and stay the evening in Leadville. For the sake of being pg, I'm not going to cuss them out, but the guy Shaun, who I had to deal with was a royal jerk! When I called he didn't say I was calling Dependable Auto, just a short "hello" then barely gave me a chance to explain my car trouble, and just said "why don't you come by and we'll see what we can do" upon arrival he was rude and didn't say anything to me except he asked year make and model. Didn't give me an estimate, didn't take down my name, didn't ask for my phone number, didn't offer for me to sit on the sofa in the lobby, didn't give me an estimate on time. The last thing I needed on top of car troubles is someone who I was trusting with my vehicle to be an A-hole! So my little dog and I walked around Leadville checking in here and there to see if my truck was done. As far as I can tell the work that was performed was done well. And that's why I gave 3 stars. This is a horrible shop that treats the locals like garbage and takes advantage of the fact that most of their customers will never be in town again. FYI the owner is not a certified mechanic and they do shoddy work, in addition to being very rude and unaccommodating. RPM is only about a mile away and worth the wait if you can't get in right away. read more
