Very disappointing. The request was for a cut and style, with clear photographs, front and back, to show what was wanted. The stylist said there was plenty hair to work with and it would be great. The end result was a choppy mess. The weight of the hair is all wrong and the back is a total mess. I could have cried. Was given a discount but really there is no way to compensate for hair that is embarrassing and will be until it grows out. read more

I exclusively use Jennifer West at Utopia for all my hair needs. However, recently got a haircut by a family member who is going through cosmo school At a different salon. It was exactly what I asked for from the family member, but it looked horrible on me. I went to Jennifer, desperate and miserable. I asked for her help and she worked her magic. if you're considering snake eyes piercing just go somewhere else. Got mine done same day I walked out it was crooked figured maybe it was just part of my tongue swelling up, than the other part of my tongue. But a month and some change goes by & my tongue is so crooked. There is cater holes where the balls are because they put a bar that is too short in my tongue. read more

While the staff seems friendly, I cannot recommend this place for waxing. My hour long appt was for a bikini, almost Brazilian wax. Three days later I have hair growing in. I was charged for a Brazilian, which I could understand since it took as much time as a Brazilian, but why is hair growing back in only 3 days later? The employee who did the waxing said she had been here for 4 or 5 years. I've had waxes done before that have lasted far longer so I'm not sure what happened here. For piercing? 5 stars. Laura is fantastic and I will continue to go here for piercings, getting jewelry changed, etc. read more

The piercer is very professional, and will treat you right. Put you immediately at ease and it goes so smoothly that you don't even really realize that you've been pierced until it's already done. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SALON. 12 Y/O granddaughter wanted a perm. Showed stylist picture and asked for curls. Stylist used rods that were too large and perhaps didn't leave the perming solution on long enough. What we got were slight waves, no curls. Told not to wash or touch hair for 48 hours. Was told we could lightly spritz hair and use the curling product stylist had used if we wanted to encourage more curls in the a.m. Did. No curls. Returned to salon. Asked for partial refund so we could go to my stylist and have her correct situation. No refund. Asked for refund of at least the tip which was 20% of $127 since the stylist's work was unsatisfactory. No refund. SO, if you do choose to use Utopia, do it with the understanding that they DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. read more

Most of the time I love the way the stylist cut my hair and does a fantastic job, however, I schedule my appt for highlights and a cut, I do admit my hair could use an extra hair conditioner, but at the time money was tight, so I opt for a product I could do at home. She seems upset and complained to the other stylist regarding my decision. I felt that it was better to have discussed this with me, instead of complaining to others. read more

Just an update - my piercing healed beautifully! Never developed a keloid, never got infected. I honestly did not clean it and leave it alone for as long as I should have (I couldn't resist playing with it and moving it around in my ear), but it still healed wonderfully. I'm sure this is in part due to the clean and safe piercing tools used at Utopia, including piercing with a needle, not a gun. read more

I am not one to usually take the time to post yelp reviews--but Utopia deserves the 5 star rating. And here's why. I called to make an appointment at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning. They scheduled me for an appointment at 11:00 AM the same day. When I arrived, the front desk woman (the same woman who booked the appointment earlier) asked that I take a seat and she would let my stylist know I was there. I sat down and waited maybe 3 minutes and my stylist, Ashley, came to get me. The hair style I wanted was just layers and some style, since my hair had gotten so long. I haven't had a hair cut in a long time, since I had been so nervous on what to get and where to go. Ashley not only listened to me, but also asked questions to better understand what I wanted. She was a joy to be around the entire time. I have never been to a salon where every single employee I spoke with was that fantastic. All of them were honestly incredible to speak to and interact with. I can't say it could have went any better. I left around 12:00. Ashley performed so well, and was professional, she deserves a raise. She knew I was nervous, and acted with confidence to better soothe my emotions. It worked! It was $40 for the hair cut and I left $14 as a tip for Ashley-- so $54 was well worth it. Absolutely amazing experience. I will definitely be back! Thank you to all of you who helped me today. I made an appointment for my second hole to be pierced. I waited an HOUR to be brought back. I told the piercer that I have sensitive ears and I needed earrings to not irritate them. The piercer seemed annoyed by me asking if she could use a sensitive earring. She told me that all of them were for sensitive ears. It's been 2 days and my ears hurt very bad WITH proper cleaning and the earrings have rusted already. Horrible service. I would rather go to Clair's and that says something. read more

I had an extremely poor haircut done at Utopia. Then the receptionist failed to mention the one week limit for fixing it - it had been 2 weeks, and he was aware of that. fact. when I made the appointment for the correcting cut. When I arrived at the time of the appointment, I was made to wait for over 30 minutes. Then the stylist informs me that since it was Week Two it would cost a minimum of $20. As this was unacceptable, I went to Hair Cuttery and had the cut fixed. It took the stylist about 45 minutes to fix this cut, and it turned out absolutely beautiful. I will never malign the name of the Hair Cuttery again! I had always thought they were "lesser" in quality and in this case that was certainly untrue. After 10+ years, I will not return to Utopia. read more

Had my hair done by Trent today. I got a highlight and cut. I do blonde highlights and I had an angled bob cut done. It turned out really great. He styled it when we were finished, and gave me really cute beach waves. We just moved to the area, and I will definitely go back to Trent. I did go here one other time in the fall, and I was satisfied, but not "wowed" . Today however, I was "wowed". It really is dependent on who you get, so I will be going back to Trent. I usually love this salon. I usually walways have an appointment with my stylist. Today I ended up doing s walk in appointment. I told the young lady what I wanted done. She cut a little bit..and didn't even do what I wanted done...didn't make any small talk. Made it so uncomfortable. It seemed like I was bothering her because she wanted to go to lunch with a few other ladies who were going. Definitely stick with your normal stylist if you have one here. Customer service is really bad. Had a 330 pm appt for waxing. Girls in the reception area was just blabbing the whole time I was there. I was even early for my appt. 330 came and nothing. 345pm, they said it was taking time for the wax to melt. Duh,,,didn't we have an appt at 330? Will never be back and will spread the word. Terrible customer service. I have been going to Utopia for 5 years now. I was scheduled for a hair cut and eyebrow wax with Kristen. Once the cut was done I stated I was also scheduled to have my eyebrows done. Kristen said she couldn't do it because she had to finish up another client, even though I was scheduled for both. I understand that schedules can run behind and things can be overlooked, however, there where a sincere lack of professionalism in telling a client that a service cannot be rendered even though they were scheduled properly. I have been coming to this salon now for about 3 years. I have never had such great work with coloring. I always get many complements on the colors my stylist chooses for me. She really takes her time and does a fantastic job. We have also used the salon for prom hair and makeup, and again great job. Having lived in various parts of the country over the years, and thus having a variety of stylists, I have no problem putting Tami at the top of the list. She does an excellent job. I also enjoy our conversations - she is personable without being too chatty. And, the prices are very reasonable, not to mention the added bonus of a scalp and shoulder massage!
