After four months of not coloring my hair, I had over 3 inches of gray growth. I had finally decided to do some gray blending as I had a harsh line that was hard to disguise any longer. I haven't trusted anyone to color my hair since my last stylist retired in 2021. I had been coloring it at home using products from Sally's. I saw a response from LL McKee Salon on a Facebook post that was asking for recommendations for someone to do gray blending. They were offering a 30% off discount through the month of July. I called and got an appointment for 2 days later on July 11th. I discussed what I was wanting when I made the appointment and the lady scheduling said they would put some highlights in it. I went back with the stylist, Keirsten. We discussed what I wanted. I told her that I wanted to let my natural hair grow out and eventually quit coloring it all together. I just wanted it not to be as noticeable during the transition. I also stated that I was concerned with the spot at my temples that was extremely white and maybe to put some low lights or something in there. She said she could do all that. She also commented on what good condition my hair was in as she was looking at it. She went and started mixing products and got to work on my hair. She put color on my roots. I was confused by that, but I didn't say anything thinking she knew what she was doing. She then started putting color and foils in the rest of my hair. During the four hours I was there, I was the only client and the phone only rang once. As she was putting color on my hair, she tells me that she has been out of beauty school for 7 months. By this time, I am starting to get really anxious. She then trims my hair and as she is finishing it, she says it will look longer in the front when it is down but when you have it pulled up it will look even. I am really confused by this because why would I want it look even when I pull it up and how does she even know I pull it up. She cut it at an angle in the front and it wasn't even a straight angle it is very uneven. She then blew dried my hair and I am just staring at myself in shock. She notices it and says, "Do you not like it? I said I guess I am in shock. She asked what I mean and I said it is so dark. I thought we were putting in some highlights to blend the grays and my roots are black. I just wanted gray blending. She said, "Well that is how we are taught to do it in beauty school". I said I don't understand why my roots are so dark. They have never been that dark. She said that is what matched your "box color" that you had already. I assure you my hair was not that dark. Maybe because she put it on virgin hair and left it on there for over an hour and a half while she did the foils. I'm not sure but my hair was not close to being that dark. By this time, I am almost in tears because after losing my son in September 2023, I have been in a deep depression and just wanted something to make me feel good again. Also, I had spent four months trying to grow out my hair and that is all down the drain now. She calls the manager and asks what to do because she is on vacation. They scheduled me for a correction 3 weeks later with the manager. I said before I would keep the appointment that I wanted to speak to her to see how she was going to correct it and make sure there was not going to be more damage to my hair because I can see breakage already and feel that it is really dried out. I have colored my hair for years and never had it feel like that unless I bleached it. They assured me that she would call me when she came back to work on Tuesday. I never did receive a phone call from her, therefore, I did not keep the appointment. The other girl that was there said you don't have to pay anything to today, but you WILL have to pay for the correction. I just said okay and left but the more I thought about it, the more upset it made me the way she said it. They wasted four hours of my day, and I am back to the beginning of gray transition. Now I am starting to have gray growth again, so I have a half inch of gray, an inch of almost black and then where she started to the highlights. I don't even want to go out with my hair down. I gave them a chance to make it write before I decided to do a review but since they didn't, I figured others should be warned before you decide on a new salon. read more
