i entered the building after 5, so the main postal service room was moderately busy, with an after-work queue wrapped around the room, though one with more space than i've experienced before. nonetheless, the lady working the counter kept the line moving efficiently, and from what i'd overheard, did so without comprising quality service. and the same stayed true in my interaction with her, in which i requested to send a pre-stamped letter with priority mailing. then, after she informed me of the $10.10 price for priority mailing a letter, which i did not have today, she politely informed me that first class mailing of 2-5 business days is the next quickest method available, and filed my letter free of charge behind the counter rather than directing me to the letter mailing room in the first part of the building. and lastly, while i did not ask for the name of the worker, she had well-kept silvery hair and a friendly smile i'd expect any supervisor to be able to identify that she receive deserved commendation for excellent guest service. read more

So, this year there was no Christmas increase in self services in the 24 hr lobby (No stamp machine or parcel drop off.). They do have extra postal boxes wheeled into the 24 hr lobby. The employees seem to be more helpful than in the past. I have never had anyone answer the door for box holder parcel pick up before 8:30am. read more

A-Ooooook! This post office will get the job done. The location is excellently placed in Utica Square so you can leisurely shop around and grab a cup of coffee from the Starbucks before you walk in. Expect a 5-20 minute average wait to be assisted in this smaller post office. The staff is kind and will be glad to help you if you drop any frustration you may have while waiting. There's a convenient machine you can purchase stamps from without having to wait in line by the PO Boxes. Sip on your latte and relax. Blame the government for this hot mess of a Post Office. The staff are always friendly once you get to the counter, but if there's a line and they see another person come in, you can FEEL the disdain and frustration that comes with being constantly short-staffed. I've been in this location when there was literally two agents and a line out the door, and one agent's lunch break was up and instead of helping deal with the customers, she just left. That's the kind of place this is. Don't even bother using this post office during Tax Season or the winter holiday season...it's a nightmare and what makes it even more frustrating is the sea of angry customers. Every time I've gone in, it has taken me at least 20-30 minutes to get any transaction done, so I tend to drive out of my way to the Post Office down by 69th and Lewis instead, which is larger and thankfully less crowded most of the time than this location. read more

I would give this post office 0 stars if that was an option. Very unprofessional employees, one in particular. I simply walked into the post office at approximately 2:01 pm and the guy behind the counter barked "we're closed" several times and pointed at the door. I explained I was only there to pick up a box to mail something next week and he continued to bark "we're closed and we have boxes outside." All while pointing at the door. The doors were unlocked and there were still several customers in line. I will never go back to this post office. read more

This post office has a reputation for being slow, poorly staffed, and the employees quite chatty, and I can't really dispute that...but if you go during off hours, you can usually get in and out quickly. The last two years I was able to mail Christmas gifts at around 2 or 3pm on peak days with just a few people ahead of me in line. They also had an employee out in the foyer who was assisting people with the self service machine. This helped a lot with the holiday congestion as those uncomfortable with the technology were willing to use the machine if someone was there to assist. This location is also open on Saturdays, which is super convenient. The Utica Square location is also a plus, as you can take care of any post office errands while shopping, dining, or grabbing a Starbucks. read more

The Utica Square post office is very old school. I usually come during my lunch hour, which is unfortunate, because they (usually) only have one person working during the lunch hour. They are very nice ladies and very helpful, but very very slow. read more

This place is slower than molasses. The people are nice but it takes you 30 minutes to mail anything. I take things here about once a month and no matter what day it is the line is always to the door. read more

Meh... Only one line open and there were 8 people in front of me. The service was friendly service but the wait was long. They don't have a self service machine so the only option is to wait in line. If you are in a rush, I'd recommend going to another location. read more

I went to the Utica Square Post Office this afternoon (9/30/13) to mail two small packages. The line was not extremely long, but it did take quite a time. I don't care much about that, though - I have come to expect slow service at USPS locations, and I wasn't in too much of a hurry. Here was the problem: the associate behind the counter offered excellent customer service to the gentleman in line in front of me. He was obviously a regular, and deserved great service. But SO DID I, even as a first-timer at this location, and I definitely didn't get it. The associate spent several minutes awkwardly trying to place two printed stickers (one for postage, one for tracking) on each package, and apparently found it challenging given the packages' relatively small size. When I offered to place them myself, she sharply told me no, and told me that if I expected USPS to care for my packages, then I would do well not to hinder them in that task by placing address labels so as to obstruct proper placement of the stickers. First of all, I placed the shipping address and the return address where I have ALWAYS known them to go. Second of all, the associate had no cause for being patronizing and unkind to me. I left so embarrassed and frustrated that I forgot to look at her name tag so as to file a complaint. And I guess the only reason I'm "yelping" is because, after 20 minutes of trying to fill out USPS's online complaint form, I got an "ERROR - TRY AGAIN LATER" message. Super annoying. read more
