They recognized my reservation, greeted me warmly, and surprised me with a complimentary upgrade to one of their beautiful luxury tent cabins. It completely changed my day. The luxury tent cabin is absolutely immaculate, beautifully decorated, air-conditioned, and thoughtfully designed from top to bottom. The photos online simply don't do these accommodations justice--they're even more beautiful in person. The stunning handcrafted king-size log bed immediately caught my eye, and it was one of the most comfortable nights of sleep I've had in a long time. Every detail has been carefully considered, creating the perfect balance between rustic mountain charm and modern comfort. After a long morning of driving through the mountains, it was exactly what I needed to truly rest, recharge, and prepare for another day on the road. What impressed me most wasn't just the accommodation--it was the people. Exceptional customer service is becoming harder to find, and Chris and Andrea reminded me what genuine hospitality looks like. They treated me like a valued guest, not just another reservation. Sites were a little close to each other but quiet place to camp…read more Laundry and bath houses were good. 2 washers and dryers so plan your time when others are not trying to use it. Loved the bike/walking trail access. We rented ebikes from them and it was an easy ride into Glenwood for rafting, food and the hot springs. The bike even came with helmets and locks. The staff at the KOA was very friendly and super helpful. We rented a two-room cabin (one full…read moresized bed and two twin sized bunk beds). Our cabin and the bathrooms were clean. The cabin was very comfortable and came with a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and minifridge. The beds were very comfortable and the heaters worked well. The only issue we had was that the KOA is located. It is located off of the major highway so there was a lot of highway noise. There's also a railroad track right behind the campground, but the track isn't used very often. Apparently they get a train once every two to three weeks. An additional minor issue is that the WiFi is very weak and did not reach to our cabin. For the WiFi to work, you had to be near the office. There's an outdoor pool that was closed because we were there in late October. There's an outdoor volleyball court and a small children's playground.

Things have been changing over the last few years here. It was good to see they now have signs in different areas around campsites as where to walk, and where not to walk. They had a special program at the amphitheater on the Saturday that we were there, but they did not allow dogs, so I was unable to go. (I think different national parks and monuments handle this differently, as in Capitol Reef, in Utah, we have been invited to their night events when camping by the presenters themselves.) On recent trips, we have seen some strange things. But this past weekend (during an early and cool part of summer,) we were left stunned by some of the fellow campers. Originally, we booked on recreation.gov to camp for several days. When we arrived, we were able to move to the C section, which is no generators, and is generally more peaceful. Usually, most people are very respectful of other campers. There were young boys at the campsite next to ours who were very loudly discussing how they were killing ants with charcoal briquettes. Later, the father tells them to bury the briquettes in the dirt. The charcoal thing was a bit worrisome with the dry branches all around the campsites. Another night, at 3 AM, a young child is screaming and crying. A few minutes are understandable. This went on for over a half hour. While this campground and area will always be very special to me, camping in my own backyard in the suburbs is more peaceful than camping here during the summer.

We came about midnight and I accidentally set my car alarm off, sorry to our neighbors lol, we made a little more noise on accident just cus it was really dark. Only drawback was marina area where you park and put your kayaks, paddle boards etc is PACKED and there is a guy renting gear that takes up a large corner portion of the parking area.

Less than an hour away from Steamboat Springs, Pearl Lake State Park is a jewel (yes, I went…read morethere). It is about 2 miles off of CR-129. We went to do some morning photography and caught some stunning scenery, with Aspen groves turning yellow. While it was still a bit early for the full fall beauty, the serenity and quiet of the surroundings, other than nature, was nice. The campgrounds are in great shape. The restrooms were very clean. The lake does not allow motorized boats, but kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, etc. are fine. We saw a lone kayaker enjoying the morning on the lake. This is a beautiful place for camping, hiking, fishing or just sitting back and watching the sun move slowly across the sky while you enjoy a bottle of Syrah or Pinot.

This beautiful wilderness area is spectacular but this particular campsite is worth the 11mile dirt road to get there. No reservations accepted but according to the host (who lives onsite), no reservations are needed. Apparently, this is camper's dream spot but also a best-kept-secret!

Since I haven't been in the summer when I feel you can really take advantage my opinion is definitely skewed but it's worth the short and beautiful drive from Steamboat (about 50 minutes). The park was $9 to get in and you also have access to go to Pearl Lake with the day pass, but out of the two options this one was definitely better. There's a short hike about 1.1 miles called Tombstone nature trail. Looking forward to going back sometime in the summer when there's more to explore and I can spend time on the water.

The amenities are amazing. Everything from little pedal go karts to giant chess. Small convenience store that has everything and at reasonable prices. people are very friendly and accommodating. They have a nice pet area, but even better some of the sites have their own yard fenced in with picnic table.

I love this campground! It's one of three closest to Maroon Bells. It's now becoming an annual…read moreretreat for me. There are four spots at this campground, which is right by the Maroon Bells Welcome Station. Last year, I was set up at site 4, which is by a serene stream that put me to sleep at night. This year, I was at site 1, a little further away from the babbling brook, yet still close enough to hear it. Site 4 is the accessible site. It's right by where you park, and the enclosed toilet. In contrast, site 1 is pushed back a ways. You definitely feel like you're in a secluded area at this site. When you check in, you'll pay a $10 pass fee, which allows you to drive up to the Maroon Bells parking area. I've had nothing but great experiences at this site and highly recommend. This year, I was able to see deer in the area, including the cutest fawn jumping across the great entrance. As it's only four spots, it can book up quickly. It's definitely worth it, though, as it's a quieter campground. Each site has about two parking spots right at the entrance to the site.
