The staff at the KOA was very friendly and super helpful. We rented a two-room cabin (one full sized bed and two twin sized bunk beds). Our cabin and the bathrooms were clean. The cabin was very comfortable and came with a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and minifridge. The beds were very comfortable and the heaters worked well. The only issue we had was that the KOA is located. It is located off of the major highway so there was a lot of highway noise. There's also a railroad track right behind the campground, but the track isn't used very often. Apparently they get a train once every two to three weeks. An additional minor issue is that the WiFi is very weak and did not reach to our cabin. For the WiFi to work, you had to be near the office. There's an outdoor pool that was closed because we were there in late October. There's an outdoor volleyball court and a small children's playground. read more

My family of six and another couple who are close friends have been going to this KOA for over 20 years. It is not a destination spot, so it doesn't get the high volume that such KOA's get, which is why we loved this one. We enjoyed the quiet and the peacefulness of this location. The cabins are situated away from where the RV's park, so unless someone with a tent spends the night are usually alone. The heated pool was not overwhelmed by countless screaming children so we adults could actually enjoy it. The previous owner was a wonderful lady who took very good care of the campground, but she never lost her focus, which was that her guests came first. We always stayed in the 3 single cabins and reserved them for the end of July every year. We brought our dogs every year and which cabin they stayed in was never an issue. Our friends, just the husband and wife, would always stay in the same cabin and my family would take the other two. Over the years we became friends with the owner and we looked forward to seeing each other in July. Sadly she sold the campground to another couple last year and the problems began. Months before our reservation the owner's wife called and harassed us for our credit card info even though they had it when we made the reservations the prior July. Their website and campground info did not mention a change in their dog policy staying in the cabins, yet which cabin our dogs could stay in became a big issue. Again, the website and campground info stated the pool opened at 11am, but the owner's wife got very rude with my children when they asked it be uncovered after 11am and she advised them it now opened at 1pm and she was inflexible about it. It seemed by the end of our stay last year that we had smoothed things over with them and they were willing to allow us to keep our pets in our cabin of choice. In January when I called to make the reservations for July 2017 she again stated the dogs would be no problem. Then, less than 2 weeks before our reservation we again got an email advising we could not keep our dogs in the cabins we had reserved. When I called the owner Edd to discuss this with him and reminded him of our prior conversations he got very rude and angry and slammed his phone down in the middle of our talk. We felt we had no choice then but to cancel our reservation and end a 20 year friendship with this KOA. This left us with no time to make reservations at another KOA so in effect their actions ruined our vacation. The new owners have invested a lot of money to make improvements to the campsite but they have lost focus that this is a service business and their guests should come first. They have reversed this so that the campsite comes first and guests second. They are inflexible and unwilling to compromise when differences occur. Because of this I can't recommend this KOA and recommend either the Steamboat Springs KOA or the Flaming Gorge/Manila KOA. read more

We had tried to stay at the Steamboat Springs KOA over the weekend but were told they were full despite not all the sites being so. When we asked about nearby camping, Craig KOA came up, but not in a good way. We were told it is a blue collar town and definitely not as nice. I called up the camp site anyway to see if they had openings and options and spoke with a gentleman who helped me get a campsite, book it, and took care of everything for us for the weekend. It is a 45 min drive with a 33 foot trailer to Craig from Steamboat Springs, but there is a difference between the towns. While Steamboat is an uppity more expensive location, Craig has everyday people living and working. The campground here was exactly like Steamboat's KOA, just no river. Super friendly staff and inhabitants of the camp as many people lived there. It was very clean, even the trailers, the bathrooms were so nice and warm during a cold spout and clean to my standard. My wife, puppy, and I stayed in one of their camping cabins on a recent 4-day visit to Steamboat, Craig, and the surrounding areas. It was clean and comfortable with its own fire pit, picnic table, and charcoal grill. They have an enclosed off-leash dog park with a shaded picnic table in the corner which is nice. This KOA also has a dog wash station that we did not use during our stay but let's just say we should have due to the long drive home with our puppy. The office/store/restrooms/showers were all clean and the owner/employees were all great to deal with. They also carry ice and other convenient items at low prices. The only bummer was the large amount of cotton falling from the Cottonwood trees next to our cabin when we went the last week of June. At times it was like a summer snow storm and cotton was flying everywhere. We lived with it since we were sightseeing and out fishing most of the time. I would recommend this Craig KOA. It worked great for our basic car camping/sightseeing needs. read more

We stayed one night as we were traveling back home from Denver and Cheyenne. The place is nice with a fair amount of trees. The highway is really close, but at night it didn't seem too busy and the noise didn't wake me. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice and well-maintained. The owner was very helpful and gave me directions to the Elkhead reservoir so we could get some sunset fishing in. He also told me where I could find the cheapest gas in town. We would stay again. read more

The staff at Craig KOA was amazing and super accommodating and friendly. We didn't have reservations and called in totally last minute. The site we ended up with was a monthly site and we just happened to call as the last camper had pulled away! Due to the future resident's plans, we were offered the site for the entire week. Nothing but friendly people all over the campground! And they offered free coffee for those of us whose husbands forget to add water to the pot and burn the pot! . Awesome paddle boarding at Elkhead Reservoir - 10 minutes up the road. 45 minutes to Steamboat and 10 minutes to a wal-mart. I'd stay at the Craig KOA again and I'd recommend it to anyone who knows the capacity of a KOA and what they offer. No frills, but awesome staff and they would absolutely bend over backwards for their kampers! read more

While the showers/bathrooms were clean, I just could not stand opening my RV door less than 8 feet away from my neighbor dump connection---even when no one was staying on the other two slots beside me. So unless your desperate or can insist on some space---keep on trucking. read more

Since there are few RV campgrounds in Craig, I've stayed here every year for 10 years. The new owners are not quite up to par yet. They've instituted a new $5/day fee for additional vehicle parking and a $5/hook game hanging fee that I find objectionable. They're just not as friendly towards hunters as the prior owners. They seemed more intent on collecting their new fees than they did in restoring WiFi service or repairing the men's shower which was out of order. read more

My family has been going to this campground for abut 25 years. First when it was a KOA, then when it was an independent campground and now it is again a KOA. We have never had any problems until now. We always go there the end of July for a 3 night stay and take the kamping kabins (we use 3 out of 4 kabins). Each part of the family likes a certain kabin During our stay last year (2016) we were informed that the dogs that we had with us can only be in 1 specific kabin. As we checked out last year, we talked to the owners and they said that something could be worked out with the dogs so they do not have to be in that one kabin and when we made the deposit in January of this year ( for our July stay), they said the same thing, that we could work something out. We received and email from them on the 15th of July stating that nothing could be done, that the dogs have to stay in that specific cabin. When we called, they stated that there was nothing that could be done, that the dogs had to stay in that specific kabin and that what they had informed us when we checked out and also in January did not matter. Their rules are inflexible. Needless to say, if they had let us known back then that they would not bend, we would not have booked this year. We would have been willing to switch kabins, but the person we talked to was so rude that he hung up on us in the middle of the conversation. Therefore, we are looking for another KOA to enjoy. I have always recommended that campground, but not any more. read more

We've lived at the KOA for several months now and if we had another option to move to we would have. In the winter when the snow was sporadically plowed it was pushed up along the sides and blocked our vehicles in. Now that the snow is gone they get by with a minimal amount of landscape maintenance, so far the minimal maintenance has not included mowing the grass or cleaning and filling the pool. The office hours are basically from morning to when they feel like taking a break and from whenever they decide to comeback to sometime in the evening. There are feral cats that are supposed to control the snake and mouse population but spend their down time crawling under trailers to pee and poop on people's things. The dog run is an area by the railroad tracks that is not fully enclosed and they won't allow temporary/portable dog pens to be set up outside of the trailer. When there is nobody around, dogs are still not allowed off leash in case they decide to chase one of the precious feral cats that destroy property. Despite the fact that we have been here for months, they know our dog is extremely friendly, I'm one of the few people that has consistently picked up dog poop, and we have been timely and amicable tenants, they refuse to work with us on any issue we may have (e.g. Cats peeing on our stuff) and there have been a couple employees that have been rather abrasive and rude. Ultimately, we are trying to get out if here but circumstances are forcing us to stay and continue to pay a rather decent amount to a campground run by lazy and rude people. Avoid this place if you can. read more
