I love coming here when I want to get away from the city and have a truly relaxing night or two. It…read moreis typically quiet, dark and can be very romantic. I personally love coming when it's snowing or when there is snow on the ground. In a clear night, you get the best view of the stars and sky. It's a hop skip and jump from Denver for a quick getaway, so I'm frequently here. There is no NO phone service, and please if coming in at night keep flashlights down to the ground as clothing is optional.

Obviously the location is amazing. Hard to beat hot springs in winter, especially since we were…read morelucky enough to be there while it was snowing. But service and accommodations? Negative stars. My husband and I just stayed two nights in the caboose for our anniversary. First impressions the caboose is adorable, but smells like the inside of a bong. Absolutely overwhelmingly rank. We opened all the doors and windows and used most of a bottle of febreeze we found under the sink to make it slightly more tolerable. Then when we pulled open the murphy bed we found someone else's dirty underwear. We let the attendant know, he apologized and told us he'd let his manager know and we should hear from her the next day. We watched him write a note for her. Heard absolutely nothing. No follow up whatsoever. We talked to another employee when we were checking out to let him know we left a pile of someone else's dirty laundry on the stoop and his response was "f***, I keep telling those guys they have to clean in there." Seriously not impressed for a $500 stay. On top of that the provided linens are one thin blanket, threadbare sheets and the saddest pillows you've ever slept on. I get that it's a rustic setting, but that's no excuse for a dirty, smelly room and cheapskate bedding. It was just gross.

We were scheduled to stay in another park for a week. Then overnight here. The other park was…read morehorrible. No cell reception, so no internet, no TV. We stayed one night there and then called Eagle Soaring to see if we could get in early. She gave us her LAST spot. The one she saves for "just in case". So we were appreciative and happy to get it. We could boondock but its just not our style. John checked us in and he could not have been nicer. I don't think, in all our travels I've ever had a camp host interduce him/her self. So just that was nice. Then you get to pick your own site. All the same so no problem there. Nice big sites, trees in-between most from what I saw. Spaces a little close together but stagger parked so your not looking directly into your neighbors windows. He told me, go ahead and settle in and then bring the paperwork down. Again, never in all our travels, 100s of parks, has anyone allowed that. It is a bit far from town so that can be a pro or a con depending on your outlook. It was near the highway, but honestly we were never bothered by any noise. We have an older coach, maybe they were insulated better a few years ago? Didn't use the restrooms/showers so I cant comment on that. But we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

It was close parking proximity to other campers, but clean facilities and just far enough off the highway to not hear all the traffic. There is a communal fire ring to visit if you're in a social mood. And the trees between the campground and the highway have grown considerably since then to provide more shade and privacy. Close location to Steamboat Springs makes it convenient for supplies and touring.
